Pre-Service Teachers’ Development Of Four C Skills In Early Field Experiences Through Reflective Writing, Weihsuan Lo, Deborah Romero Aug 2025

Pre-Service Teachers’ Development Of Four C Skills In Early Field Experiences Through Reflective Writing, Weihsuan Lo, Deborah Romero

Journal of Educational Research and Innovation

This longitudinal trend research study (Creswell & Guetterman, 2019) investigates how pre-service teachers (PSTs) in a K-12 licensure program that includes a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) added endorsement develop the 4Cs (creative thinking, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration) through reflective writing during early field experiences. The study involved five PSTs who submitted three reflective journals during the 2020-2021 school year and nine PSTs who participated in an online virtual focus group. Compared to the 2019-2020 school year, where PSTs observed in-person classes, the shift to online learning in 2020-2021 resulted in maintained Analytic skills (M = 39.40) and increased …

Understanding Hispanic Cultural Strengths Through Parents’ Voices: Insights For Interdisciplinary School Personnel, David Moran, Johana Rocha, Kristy Carlisle Aug 2025

Understanding Hispanic Cultural Strengths Through Parents’ Voices: Insights For Interdisciplinary School Personnel, David Moran, Johana Rocha, Kristy Carlisle

Journal of Human Services Scholarship and Interprofessional Collaboration

Examining the strengths of Hispanic cultural values among K-12 school students is a generally understudied concept, and from their parents’ perspective specifically. This study sought to take a qualitative approach toward the exploration of Hispanic parents’ perspectives on how their cultural values promote strengths within their school-aged children. Hispanic parents (N = 8) participated in bilingual (i.e., Spanish and English) focus groups, with the results providing content that can inform culturally responsive prevention and intervention strategies to support the roles of interdisciplinary school personnel who regularly interact with the children. Findings pointed to (a) interaction with peers and school …

Winarno, Andi Nur Anna, Andi Weri Sompa, Ami Febriza S. Achmad, Nurdiana Nurdiana, Zulkifli Zulkifli, Irwan Ashari

Journal of Health Research

Background: The COVID-19 vaccine, including CoronaVac, is crucial in reducing severe infections and mortality due to COVID-19. However, variability in antibody responses across different populations remains a subject of investigation. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of age and BMI on Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody levels three months post-CoronaVac vaccination in a healthy Indonesian cohort.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 299 healthy individuals aged 18–70 in Bantaeng, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. IgG levels against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein receptor-binding domain (RBD) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Blood samples were collected about 90 ± 7 days …

The Impact Of Cell Phones And Social Media On Social And Emotional Development Of High School Students, Laura Nash Aug 2025

The Impact Of Cell Phones And Social Media On Social And Emotional Development Of High School Students, Laura Nash

Masters Projects

Studies suggest that social media can have a negative impact on the social and emotional development of adolescents when overused or abused. This paper examines the benefits of social media and several of the adverse effects of problematic social media use. A few of the adverse effects can carry over into the school setting, resulting in students missing valuable instruction time and not being fully engaged in the learning environment. This project proposal is intended to educate parents and school employees about hazards of problematic social media use and the tools that are readily available to monitor the content that …

Open And Timely Public Access To Final, Citable U.S. Case Law: A Progress Report, Peter W. Martin Aug 2025

Open And Timely Public Access To Final, Citable U.S. Case Law: A Progress Report, Peter W. Martin

Cornell Law Faculty Publications

By the early 1990s, numerous advantages of disseminating legal information electronically instead of in print had become widely recognized. These included the potential for faster and wider access and increased competition. To maximize those gains, the American Association of Law Libraries and American Bar Association recommended that the nation’s court systems adopt public (non-proprietary) systems of case citation that could function readily regardless of medium. A few had already headed down that path. In the years since, others have followed.

This article traces the progress of that movement and describes a less conspicuous alternative more recently implemented in a number …

Resurgent Education In Native American Catholic Schools: The Stories Of Indigenous Educators Who Attended Boarding Schools, William Newkirk Aug 2025

Resurgent Education In Native American Catholic Schools: The Stories Of Indigenous Educators Who Attended Boarding Schools, William Newkirk

LMU Theses and Dissertations

Although news coverage has discussed the history of Native American boarding schools with more attention, a problematic lack of Native voice has continued to remain in these discussions. In particular, the perspectives of former students of boarding schools are too often missing. Further, there are former residential school students teaching in Native American Catholic schools whose stories and experiences have not yet been documented. This research was not meant to strictly learn from their time as students in the schools, but also their perspectives and successes found within their time as educators. They are teachers with deeply important historical experiences, …

Childhood Vaccination In Mozambique Pre- And Post-Covid-19 Pandemic, Remy Mwamba Aug 2025

Childhood Vaccination In Mozambique Pre- And Post-Covid-19 Pandemic, Remy Mwamba

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

In 2019, infectious diseases and other conditions claimed the lives of over 5 million children under 5. Global immunization coverage remains below prepandemic levels, leaving behind over 14 million zero-dose children in 2022, of whom 84% lived in low- and middle-income countries. This quantitative cross-sectional study aimed to examine, using two consecutive Demographic and Health Surveys, whether the most significant household characteristics and health service utilization risk factors associated with nonvaccination before the COVID-19 pandemic still hold postpandemic in Mozambique. Andersen's behavioral model of healthcare service utilization was the foundation for this investigation. The sample included N=2034 children aged 12-35 …

Rethinking Empowerment: Financial Self-Efficacy In First-Generation College Students, David Steadman

Masters Projects

Financial wellness difficulties have increasingly been found as a trend found amongst college students in research, as loans increase and student aid decreases, research is needed to understand new approaches to financial wellness and improving this problem within higher education. This project explores financial wellness and the need for wellness support amongst first-generation college students, as they continue to face unique wellness challenges in education at disparate rates. Specifically, it focuses on Financial Self-Efficacy (FSE) as a mediating factor of financial wellness, instead of a traditional focus on purely financial literacy. Grounded in Albert Bandura’s self-efficacy theory, the First-Generation Financial …

Volumetric Imaging Of Cellular Dynamics Using Light-Sheet Microscopy: From Subcellular Structures To Whole Organisms, Md Nasful Huda Prince Aug 2025

Volumetric Imaging Of Cellular Dynamics Using Light-Sheet Microscopy: From Subcellular Structures To Whole Organisms, Md Nasful Huda Prince

Optical Science and Engineering ETDs

Advancing biomedical imaging requires platforms that combine high-resolution, speed, and stability across biological scales. This dissertation presents three innovations designed to address limitations of conventional light-sheet and oblique plane imaging. First, we introduce Reflected Inline Detection in Epi-Oblique Plane Microscopy (RIDE-OPM), a compact and drift-resistant system that eliminates a tertiary detection path while maintaining alignment flexibility, enabling robust long-term live imaging. Second, we present a high-speed Axially Swept Light-Sheet Microscopy (ASLM) platform for cleared tissues, using dual foci and synchronized sweeping to achieve isotropic sub-micron resolution at up to 40 frames-per-second, a fourfold improvement over standard ASLM. Integrated with a …
