Automated Self-Improving And User-Responsive Video Chapter Generation Using Generative Artificial Intelligence, Ilia Labzovsky, Danny Karmon
Defensive Publications Series
Traditional video segmentation methods that offer limited granularity, static chapter structures. Such solutions lack deep semantic understanding and do not incorporate user interaction data for video segmentation, leading to inefficient information discovery and a poor user experience. This disclosure describes the use of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) to automatically create and dynamically refine smart chapters for long-form videos. These chapters are rich in detail, including titles, summaries, key concepts, and preview clips. With user permission, user interaction data can be used to dynamically adapt the chapter structure for individual viewers or the overall population. The techniques transform static videos into …

Textbooks: Required, Alternatives, Hybrid, Or Disappearance, William Saunders, Carlton Perkins, Michara Delaney-Fields
Southwestern Business Administration Journal
The conversations around transformational changes in higher education are centered around a myriad of issues. Technology, the lasting effects of the pandemic, student satisfaction and readiness for future employment requirements are a few of the leading concerns. However, one subject that is not receiving enough attention is the growing resistance and hesitation among college students to purchase textbooks. Although the movement has not reached the status of a full-blown protest or outright refusal, there is enough attention being brought to the subject that educators may want to be prepared for an eventual change. The need and requirement for textbooks in …

The Innovative Technique For Obtaining The Solutions Of Jeffery Hamel Nano-Fluids Flow Problem, Haedir Abd Alrazak Namoos, Abeer Majeed Jasim
Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
The study of heat transfer in nanofluid flows is increasingly important in many engineering, medical, and industrial applications. These fluids offer enhanced thermal cooling properties compared to conventional fluids. The research problem lies in the challenges of solving the Jeffrey-Hammel flow model for nanofluids, which includes coupled nonlinear differential equations that describe the thermal and hydrodynamic behavior of this type of flow, taking into account the influence of multiple factors such as the type, size, and concentration of nanoparticles. This research aims to propose a new hybrid analytical technique that combines the Laplace transform and the q-homotopy analysis technique with …

Drawing from peer-reviewed literature, the work explores narratives and collective memories that influence perceptions of care, including the role of faith-based coping, stigma, and alternative healing practices. Special attention is given to the compounded effects of intersectional identities …
A Complex Border: Intractability And The Physical Roots Of Discursive Legitimations In Cyprus, Hilmi Ulas
A Complex Border: Intractability And The Physical Roots Of Discursive Legitimations In Cyprus, Hilmi Ulas
Peace Studies Faculty Articles and Research
The Cypriot conflict is one of the most intractable conflicts of the modern era, and the collapse of complexity among the actors in the conflict—mainly the Republic of Cyprus, North Cyprus, and Turkey—appears to be the main cause of the continued “no war, no peace” state. Subsequent socio-psychological self-organization among these actors then produces conflict-perpetuating feedback loops and dynamics. These dynamics include identity narratives, narratives of “the other,” and narratives of the nature of the conflict, which, at the grassroots level, can legitimize ongoing engagement in the conflict, whereas peace is painted as an undesirable and undeserved/unjust compromise. Given this, …
Ineffective Parenting, Alexis Rian
Ineffective Parenting, Alexis Rian
Master of Arts in Human Services
Ineffective parenting can lead to long-term, severe, and lasting consequences for children. Children depend heavily on their primary caregivers for safety and to have their basic needs met. However, not all parents demonstrate positive parenting styles, whether due to a lack of knowledge, limited capacity, or simply a lack of interest. Parenting styles fall into four categories: authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved. The type of parenting style a caregiver adopts can significantly influence the attachment style a child has with them. Four attachment styles that children have are insecure avoidant attachment, secure attachment, insecure resistant attachment, and disorganized attachment. Children …
Not In My Neighborhood! The Harsh Realities Of Sex Offender Registration Laws, Kyle B. Rossow
Not In My Neighborhood! The Harsh Realities Of Sex Offender Registration Laws, Kyle B. Rossow
Master of Arts in Human Services
Sex offender registration laws were created in response to public fear and high-profile tragedies, with the primary goal of enhancing public safety through stringent monitoring of sexual offenders. This paper explores the historical development of these laws, including high-profile cases that later influenced legislative acts, such as the tragic incidents of Jacob Wetterling, Megan Kanka, and Adam Walsh. This paper also explores how media portrayals and public opinion factor into these legislative decisions. While the laws aim to protect the public, they often result in collateral consequences for individuals who have to register. Sex offenders are often held back by …

A Closer Look At The Relationship Between Cultural Intelligence And Organizational Citizenship Behaviors, Lesli B. Quiroz
Master's Theses
As organizations—particularly in the United States—become more multicultural due to globalization, they increasingly rely on individuals' ability to succeed in complex, cross?cultural environments. Cultural intelligence (CQ), or the ability to successfully adapt to unfamiliar cultural settings, has been previously related to expatriate cross-cultural adjustment, group effectiveness, and more recently, to organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB), which are voluntary extra-role workplace behaviors that lead to positive employee and organizational outcomes. This study mainly sought to theoretically expand the limited research on the relationship between CQ and OCB with some research questions. In a sample of 93 participants based in California, results found …

Improving High Frequency Absorptive Filters For Quantum Computing, Christopher B. Sutton
Improving High Frequency Absorptive Filters For Quantum Computing, Christopher B. Sutton
Graduate Masters Theses
Coaxial transmission lines in superconducting quantum circuits are subject to infrared radiation (IR) leakage as signals travel from room temperature (≈ 300 K) to low temperature (≈ 10 mK). Current experimental configurations typically include an epoxy based filter on all cables connecting classical devices (pulse generators, VNA, etc.) to the quantum circuit. The epoxy is characterized by its dielectric properties per unit length and acts as an absorber, attenuating IR noise. Historically, such IR filters have been fabricated by the experimentalists who require them, more recently they have become commercially available. This work investigates the performance of filters which were …
