A Case Study Of Faculty Composition And Workload In Sport Management Programs At Small-To-Medium-Sized Colleges And Universities, Joshua Greer, Nicholas Zoroya, Aimee T. Vlachos, Alan Ledford
The COSMA Journal
Sport management has transitioned from its origins in physical education to an established, business-oriented academic discipline, prompting new questions about how faculty composition and workload shape program delivery in resource-constrained contexts. This case study investigates faculty structures, instructional variety, and workload in sport management programs at small- to medium-sized U.S. colleges and universities, as defined by the Carnegie Size & Setting Classification. A mixed-methods survey of faculty (n = 61) was analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic content analysis. Quantitative results indicated that core courses are primarily taught by full-time faculty, with most programs relying on one to three full-time …

Analysis Of The Determinants Of Cash Holdings And The Implications For Local Government Spending Effectiveness In West Java, Ismail Marzuki Randos, Nia Suciyati
Journal of Accounting Auditing and Business
Cash management is fundamental to sustaining uninterrupted local service delivery and supporting credible budget execution. In West Java, municipal cash holdings exhibited fluctuations over 2019–2023, with only a limited number of districts/cities consistently maintaining cash holdings ratios above the operational sufficiency threshold. This study examines (i) the determinants of cash holdings Capacity and (ii) the relationship between cash holdings and expenditure effectiveness. Cash Holdings Capacity is classified as sufficient when the cash holdings ratio exceeds 100%, whereas Expenditure Effectiveness is classified as effective when the effectiveness ratio exceeds 90%. The quantitative analysis applies binary logistic regression to 27 districts/cities in …

The Relationship Between Cloud Computing Factors And Cloud Computing Behavioral Intention Of First-Year University Students, Gabriel Albino
The Relationship Between Cloud Computing Factors And Cloud Computing Behavioral Intention Of First-Year University Students, Gabriel Albino
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In an era where vast amounts of data are generated daily, the ability to manage information through cloud computing has become critical; however, asymmetries in using this technology persist, particularly in developing countries. Academic managers often lack information about the factors influencing cloud computing usage. The purpose of this quantitative correlational cross-sectional study was to examine the relationship between cloud computing factors, including effort expectancy (EE), performance expectancy (PE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FC), and the first-year university students’ cloud computing behavioral intention (CCBI) in the developing country of Angola. A structured questionnaire was administered to a random …

While many families experience multiple etiologies of stress during a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission, unique stressors arise for certain groups that are at higher risk for disparities in infant outcomes, including Latino families. The objective of this study was to explore the experiences of Latino families regarding support received in the NICU while their infant was hospitalized to identify ways to enhance the quality of care.

Creating A Scorecard—The Case Of How Well Texas Four-Year, Public Universities Serve Texas Latinos?, Arturo Vega
Public Administration Scholarship and Projects
The goal of this inaugural “How-to Working Paper” is to provide a resource to measure performance, effectiveness or simply the underlying dimensions of a concept, perception or attitude. This paper focuses on how to create and use a scorecard or index. The principal audience of these “How-to Working Papers” are upper-level social science disciplines like political science or sociology and master-level graduate students in, again, political science or public administration. But really any university student or civically-minded individual conducting research will benefit from this paper.

Death Of Substantiality: Why The Legal System Should Rethink The Application And Weight Of This Fair-Use Factor In The Context Of Social Media, Lindsey Vickers
Death Of Substantiality: Why The Legal System Should Rethink The Application And Weight Of This Fair-Use Factor In The Context Of Social Media, Lindsey Vickers
Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
The fair use test for exemption for liability from copyright infringement was codified in the 1970s and has not been updated since—despite major technological changes in the interim. While three of the test’s four prongs are still useful when applied to short-form media that now dominates worldwide media consumption, the factor that considers the substantiality of the portion used relative to the total work is obsolete. The current dysfunctionality of this prong in social media settings is not the only reason it should be reassessed by courts and Congress. The prong and its analysis are a bit of a Frankenstein. …
Fluid Agency In Ai Systems: A Case For Functional Equivalence In Copyright, Patent, And Tort, Anirban Mukherjee, Hannah H. Chang
Fluid Agency In Ai Systems: A Case For Functional Equivalence In Copyright, Patent, And Tort, Anirban Mukherjee, Hannah H. Chang
Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
Modern artificial intelligence (AI) systems lack human-like consciousness or culpability, yet they exhibit fluid agency: behavior that is (i) stochastic (probabilistic and path-dependent), (ii) dynamic (co-evolving with user interaction), and (iii) adaptive (able to reorient across contexts). Fluid agency generates valuable outputs but collapses attribution, irreducibly entangling human and machine inputs. This fundamental unmappability fractures doctrines that assume traceable provenance—authorship, inventorship, and liability—yielding ownership gaps and moral “crumple zones.”
This Article argues that only functional equivalence stabilizes doctrine. Where provenance is indeterminate, legal frameworks must treat human and AI contributions as equivalent for allocating rights and responsibility—not as a claim …
Fiscal Sponsorship In Truly Independent Film: Entity And Model Choice And Legal Risks, Samuel Johnson
Fiscal Sponsorship In Truly Independent Film: Entity And Model Choice And Legal Risks, Samuel Johnson
Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
This article examines fiscal sponsorship as a legal and financing structure for “truly independent” films—low-budget, non-commercial projects created by filmmakers without access to studio financing, tax incentives, or traditional investors. Neither standalone nonprofit incorporation nor purely for-profit entity structures adequately address the unique needs of such projects. After surveying the development of fiscal sponsorship as a means of funding projects that meet an exempt purpose, relevant IRS guidance, and current prevailing practices and organizational structures in independent film, the article contends that a Model C (“regranting”) fiscal sponsorship paired with a single-member limited liability company (SMLLC) offers the optimal balance …

School Social Workers’ Perceptions Of The Effectiveness Of The Strategies Used To Reduce The Dropout Rates Of African American High School Male Students, Tawanda Mclaurin
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The problem investigated in this study was that approximately 34% of African American male students had dropped out of high school in an urban public school district in the Northern United States. Grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore school social workers’ perceptions of the effectiveness of strategies used to reduce dropout rates among African American male high school students. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 10 school social workers from one urban public school district who worked with African American male students at risk of dropping out. Data was collected …
An Investigation Of A Mach 15 Flow Over A Blunt Wedge Using First-Principles Potential Energy Surfaces: Influence Of Wall Temperature, Paolo Valentini, Zach Davis, Maninder S. Grover, Nicholas J. Bisek
An Investigation Of A Mach 15 Flow Over A Blunt Wedge Using First-Principles Potential Energy Surfaces: Influence Of Wall Temperature, Paolo Valentini, Zach Davis, Maninder S. Grover, Nicholas J. Bisek
Space Dynamics Laboratory Publications
The simulation of a Mach 15 air flow over a blunt wedge is conducted using the direct molecular simulation (DMS) method. Due to partial dissociation of the air mixture at the imposed free stream conditions, the shock layer contains N2, O2, NO, N, and O. All potential energy surfaces (PESs) used to model the various molecular interactions only describe electronic ground states energetics. Thus, no electronic excitation is modeled. An isothermal wall boundary condition is imposed, with full momentum and energy accommodation. Two wall temperatures are considered in this work, namely 1,000 K and 2,000 K. …
