Learning Experiences From An Interprofessional, University-Based, Student-Led Healthcare Clinic In The Uk., Katharine Wood, Helen Frank, Konstantinos Papadopoulos Jan 2026

Learning Experiences From An Interprofessional, University-Based, Student-Led Healthcare Clinic In The Uk., Katharine Wood, Helen Frank, Konstantinos Papadopoulos

Journal of Interprofessional Practice and Collaboration

Student-led clinics (SLCs) are increasingly being adopted in physiotherapy and occupational therapy degree programs. SLCs are an innovative practice-based learning model that offers unique learning opportunities while solving the challenges of sourcing appropriate placements. However, there is little recent evidence of their use in healthcare education in the UK. To address this literature gap, a synchronous online focus group with seven participants was conducted to explore the learning experiences of undergraduate occupational therapy and physiotherapy students who attended an inter-professional, non-elective, university-based SLC in the UK. A thematic analysis approach was used to identify three main themes: (1) Learning With, …

A Case For Judge-Made Law For The American Jurists From An English Perspective—Drawing Example From The Human Rights Act 1998, Samuel Kuo Jan 2026

A Case For Judge-Made Law For The American Jurists From An English Perspective—Drawing Example From The Human Rights Act 1998, Samuel Kuo

Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law

Many authors frown upon judge-made law as an inappropriate and ghastly exercise of judicial activism in American jurisprudence. This, nevertheless, is not the view of English jurisprudence. This Comment proposes instead that the American legal audience should embrace the benefits of judge-made law as a means of correcting the rigidity and inadequacies of the legislature. It does so by drawing an example from the recent debates over whether the Human Rights Act 1998 should be amended or repealed by the legislature, which is comprised of the members of parliament sitting in the House of Commons. By drawing the example of …

“We are bullish about the power of football (soccer). It will become the number one sport in North America” —FIFA President Gianni Infantino

Canada, Mexico, and the United States will host the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup. While the tournament is expected to generate more than $40 billion in economic activity across the continent, FIFA’s decision to award hosting rights to North America coincides with Gianni Infantino’s stated goal of dethroning American football as the most popular sport in North America. While billions of dollars and a healthy dose of soft power await North America on …

Changing Climate, Changing Rights: How The Unitedstates Can Learn From The Emergence Of The Right To A Healthy Environment In Colombia And India, Jasmine Furin

Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law

The right to a healthy environment embodies the idea that environmental protection and the enjoyment of human rights are connected. As this concept has developed, authorities around the world have described the contours of this right in various ways. The right to a healthy environment generally includes a safe climate, clean air, healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, access to safe water, healthy and sustainable food, non-toxic environments, access to information, public participation in decision-making, and access to justice. Thus, the right to a healthy environment is unique because it provides individuals with a more complete set of protections against environmental harms compared …

A Model For Artificial Intelligence (Ai) Literacy Education: Reflections On Teaching Graduate-Level Teacher Education Courses, Hyunjin Jinna Kim Jan 2026

A Model For Artificial Intelligence (Ai) Literacy Education: Reflections On Teaching Graduate-Level Teacher Education Courses, Hyunjin Jinna Kim

International Journal of Transformative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

This practice-oriented self-study examines the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) literacy education model grounded in my reflective teaching practices and journey in graduate-level teacher education courses. As AI tools become increasingly embedded in educational and everyday technologies, both teachers and learners often remain unaware of the algorithms, data ethics, and biases that shape AI-driven systems (Ghallab, 2019; Ng et al., 2022). Recognizing that many teachers and teacher candidates responsible for educating the next generation have a minimal understanding of AI tools’ limitations and the ethical risks involved in AI use, I drew on my own experiences and knowledge as …

Exploring Chinese Elements In J.D. Salinger’S Works: A Response To Mccarthyism In The Early Cold War Era, Yixin Lu

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

Since the publication of “The Laughing Man” in 1949, various ideas about “China” have emerged in J. D. Salinger’s famously obscure works. This article aims to argue that Salinger’s incorporation of elements related to China and ancient Chinese philosophy in his works illustrates an artistic response to American anxieties during the McCarthy Era. The article uses “The Laughing Man” and “De Daumier-Smith’s Blue Period” as case studies to demonstrate how Salinger’s engagement with “China,” including the concept of indiscrimination from Zen Buddhist ideas, as well as notions of naturalness and non-action from Taoist ideas, develops not only a mystical writing …

Ginsberg’S China Experience And Its Influence On His Series Of Poems On China, Xiankai Ren

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

As a renowned poet and representative of the Beat Generation, Allen Ginsberg was invited to be a member of the US Writers’ Delegation to visit China in 1984. His China trip as well as his reading of traditional Chinese literature constitute his China experience, which is represented in Ginsberg’s poetry. This essay examines Ginsberg’s series of poems on China. It first shows that Ginsberg’s introduction to the Beat Generation poets and their poetics provided the inspiration for his poetry writing. Then it discusses Ginsberg’s observation of Chinese society during his visit and his reading of the Chinese poet Bai Juyi. …

In Memoriam Gwangju: Transnational Memoryscapes Of Gwangju And Buenos Aires In The Works Of Han Kang And Im Heung-Soon, Heewon Chung

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

Currently acclaimed as the first Asian female author who won the Nobel Prize in literature, Korean writer Han Kang has persistently struggled with memoryscapes and traumascapes. Han’s collection of poems Winter Beyond the Mirror delineates the poetic “I”’s experiences of visiting Argentina and describes how she senses the interconnectedness between Gwangju and Buenos Aires. Korean artist-filmmaker Im Heung-soon’s recent film Good Light, Good Air addresses the same issue, and actually Im and Han have shared a mutual concern about it since Han’s novel Human Acts. This essay defines Winter Beyond the Mirror and Good Light, Good Air, coupled …

“I Have Got Rid Of, For Good, Eastern Backwardness”: Ra’Fat’S Guilty Assimilation In Al Aswany’S Chicago: A Novel, Rimun Murad Jan 2026

“I Have Got Rid Of, For Good, Eastern Backwardness”: Ra’Fat’S Guilty Assimilation In Al Aswany’S Chicago: A Novel, Rimun Murad

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

Where scholars of Arab studies have asserted that conversations of integration or assimilation in Arab American and Arab immigrant literature have shifted to notions of hybridity and multiculturalism, Alaa Al Aswany’s Chicago: A Novel stresses that the question of assimilation remains relevant due to the power differentials that exist between “East” and “West.” Chicago’s Dr. Ra’fat Thabit who insists on replacing his Egyptian identity with an “American” one—and embracing highly problematic norms—offers an understanding of assimilation as an emotional process that occasions violence towards the other. This violence, in turn, brings about feelings of guilt and shame rechanneled as …

Facilitating user actions between a media playback device and a separate personal device (e.g., a smartphone, smart watch, or wearable device) can present challenges. For example, methods that rely on shared user accounts may be less suitable for public or shared displays, while others, such as those using visual codes, can involve user actions that might interrupt a passive viewing experience. A data payload, such as a product identifier, can be embedded as an acoustic watermark into an audio signal broadcast from a source device. A separate receiving device can use its microphone to passively detect and decode this watermark …

System For Epistemologically-Informed Text Generation With Language Models, Kenneth Steimel, Aman Sardana, Scott Dozier Jan 2026

System For Epistemologically-Informed Text Generation With Language Models, Kenneth Steimel, Aman Sardana, Scott Dozier

Defensive Publications Series

Proposed herein is a system that enables Large Language Models (LLMs) to automatically generate linguistically appropriate hedging language that accurately reflects the reliability of underlying information sources. By extracting multi-dimensional epistemological metadata (source authority, temporal relevance, evidential support) from knowledge base documents and integrating this metadata directly into LLM generation processes through augmented attention mechanisms, the system produces responses where confidence expressions match actual source reliability. The approach addresses the "confidently incorrect" problem in high-stakes applications (medical, legal, financial) by ensuring LLMs communicate uncertainty appropriately, using domain-specific hedging conventions and continuous feedback-driven refinement.

Numerical Study Using Narx To Improve Pipe Vibration In Dosing Pump Systems, Shmoos Rahem Mazal, Mohammed Jawad Mohammed, Mahmoud Mustafa Mahdi Jan 2026

Numerical Study Using Narx To Improve Pipe Vibration In Dosing Pump Systems, Shmoos Rahem Mazal, Mohammed Jawad Mohammed, Mahmoud Mustafa Mahdi

Engineering and Technology Journal

Pressure pulsation is a serious problem in the piping system. It is generated at the beginning and end of the water-pumping process, or when valves suddenly close. The high turbulence of fluid particles in the presence of pressure waves causes multiple stresses on the pipe walls, requiring maintenance and eventual replacement over time. In this research, an experimental setup for a piping system vibration model induced by pulsating pressure is designed, developed, and fabricated. The objective of the present work is to create a MATLAB program using the NARX method at the beginning of the Neural Network time series. Nonlinear …

Thermal Performance Investigation Of A Double Pipe Heat Exchanger Using Experimental And Simulation Techniques, Paiman Sidiq Salih, Shadi Bakir Ahmed, Didar Othman Mohammed

Engineering and Technology Journal

A heat exchanger is a device that transfers heat between two media. It is widely applied in various Industrial processes and power plants. Most previous studies relied either on CFD without experimental validation or on limited diameters, while this work integrates both experiments and CFD and compares three diameters. An experimental study on a counter-flow double-pipe heat exchanger with a 12 mm inner pipe was conducted to validate the CFD model. The validated model was then used to assess the effects of inner pipe diameter (12, 15, and 18 mm), flow rate, and temperature on thermal performance. For validation purposes, …

Combined Effect Of Collector Design And Nanofluid On The Photovoltaic/Thermal System Cooling Under Hot Summer Iraqi Conditions, Hussain M. Hamed, Sattar Aljabair, Ahmed A. Imrana

Engineering and Technology Journal

The operation of photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) systems is highly susceptible to the operating temperature of the photovoltaic (PV) panel, as elevated temperatures significantly reduce electrical efficiency and overall system performance. To address this critical issue, a PV/T system incorporating a serpentine channel with fins was carefully designed and experimentally tested using water and Al2O3/water nanofluids at 0.25 and 0.5%. The system’s thermal, electrical, and exergy efficiencies were systematically evaluated under different cooling conditions, along with detailed analyses of entropy generation and exergy losses. Experimental results indicated that electrical efficiency improved by 12.4, 16.1, and 22.2% when using …

Connected Migration Paths: A Reflective Account Of Research On The Integration Of Moroccan Immigrants In Canada In The Digital Age, Loubna Kiouane

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

Rather than a simple presentation of results, this article offers a reflective and intimate account of my research journey on the digital integration of Moroccan immigrants in Canada. Rooted in personal experience, the study explores the behind-the-scenes aspects of the thesis: the challenges of conducting fieldwork entirely remotely, questions about my own position as a Moroccan researcher studying my peers, and the constant adaptations this required. The text testifies to how this intellectual journey was also a human adventure, one that profoundly nourished my thinking and influenced my own life plans.

Representation Of Gender Online: The Case Of Moroccan Female Content Creators On Youtube, Basma Kaissy Jan 2026

Representation Of Gender Online: The Case Of Moroccan Female Content Creators On Youtube, Basma Kaissy

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

Social media has revolutionised the way we communicate. On YouTube, Moroccan female creators negotiate their visibility and social status. My thesis examines their uses and discourses to better understand online gender dynamics, combining quantitative analysis and nethnography, enriched by a semiopragmatic reading of signs and their effects. From a reflexive perspective, my experience as a woman in the digital world becomes both an analytical asset and a limitation, requiring constant vigilance in the face of possible biases.

Between Religion And Feminism: Analysis Of Gendered Religious Discourse On Moroccan Social Media And Its Societal Effects, Roua Chkouni Jan 2026

Between Religion And Feminism: Analysis Of Gendered Religious Discourse On Moroccan Social Media And Its Societal Effects, Roua Chkouni

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

This article examines gendered religious discourse on Moroccan social media and analyses its effects on representations of identity. Taking a multidisciplinary approach that combines gender sociology, sociology of religion and digital studies, this research draws on critical and digital discourse analysis, online ethnography and field observations. The results highlight how this content, by exploiting the virality and interactivity inherent in these platforms, contributes to the reproduction and reformulation of patriarchal norms. The study thus highlights the tension between the modernisation of media, the reconfiguration of religious authority and the persistence of gender hierarchies in the contemporary Moroccan context.

Women's Emancipation Through Religion, Nadia Kaaouas, Taoufik Ait Bouchgour Jan 2026

Women's Emancipation Through Religion, Nadia Kaaouas, Taoufik Ait Bouchgour

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

This editorial argues that studies of Maghrebi and African women’s relationships to religion are far from obsolete. It recalls how the field moved from descriptive accounts of injustices and sensationalized writings toward stronger sociological and anthropological inquiry. Anchored in a special issue of Faits de langue et de société linked to the ANR-funded RIMA project coordinated by Fabienne Samson, the dossier examines women’s emancipation through religious practice and discourse as tools for action, resistance, and activism. Contributors highlight methodological and ethical challenges of researching “at home” and online, where social media enables reinvention yet also can subtly reproduce religious norms.

Psychological Experiences Of Law Enforcement Officers Responding To Critical Incidents Alone And With A Partner, Lydia Abernethy Jan 2026

Psychological Experiences Of Law Enforcement Officers Responding To Critical Incidents Alone And With A Partner, Lydia Abernethy

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The role of law enforcement officers is to restore peace and safety when chaos occurs, which can be life-threatening and stressful as officers respond to the critical incidents unfolding. For this study, a qualitative approach and phenomenological framework were utilized to gain insight into the first-hand psychological experiences of officers responding to critical incidents. Police officers work in demanding environments that can lead to mental health conditions such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Peer support and communication among coworkers have emerged as a potentially important factor, as officers would share traumatic events with other officers. Therefore, my research focused …
