Potential Mediators In The Relationship Between Racial Identity And Neuropsychological Performance In A Retired Nfl Cohort, Claire Stafford, Charles Golden, Ryan Bennett Feb 2026

Potential Mediators In The Relationship Between Racial Identity And Neuropsychological Performance In A Retired Nfl Cohort, Claire Stafford, Charles Golden, Ryan Bennett

Archives of Assessment Psychology

Historically, Black Americans have consistently performed more poorly than White Americans on various neuropsychological tests, with debates surrounding the causes of these differences ranging from genetic to societal factors. These differences have been documented across various cognitive domains, including memory, attention, executive function, and processing speed. Findings from previous research suggest that individuals with higher levels of education and stable marital relationships tend to exhibit better cognitive functioning, while certain football positions are linked to differences in cognitive abilities. However, the specific effects of these factors on neuropsychological performance require further investigation. The present archival study was derived from a …

Protecting Journalism From National Security In Contemporary India, Manish . Feb 2026

Protecting Journalism From National Security In Contemporary India, Manish .

National Law School of India Review

Freedom of the press is an important element of a robust democracy. In India, press freedom lacks statutory protection, leaving constitutional protection under Article 19(1)(a) as the only remedy. In recent years, the use of anti-terror laws against journalists investigating alleged lapses or excesses by the state has posed a particular threat to press freedom, given the largely minimalist and statist interpretation that the Supreme Court of India has given to these laws. This has been compounded by the election and re-election of an autocratic populist government to Parliament, which has sought to use law as a means of ensuring …

Effective Data Obfuscation With Scope And Address Range Preservation, Mariusz Kaźmierski Feb 2026

Effective Data Obfuscation With Scope And Address Range Preservation, Mariusz Kaźmierski

Defensive Publications Series

This submission proposes a novel data obfuscation technique that preserves critical network scope and address ranges, addressing enterprise concerns over privacy and compliance with regulations like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) while providing necessary insights and structure for network equipment vendors to properly analyze network data. Unlike previous solutions, the proposed technique maintains network integrity by intelligently handling broadcast, reserved, and well-known Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This intelligent handling enables secure, compliant data sharing for proactive support, giving enterprises confidence without sacrificing control, and also provides for the ability to capture data for artificial intelligence (AI) workflows and to support …

Dynamic Content Playback Speed Adjustment Based On Content Classification And User History, Pratap Kalenahalli Sudarshan Feb 2026

Dynamic Content Playback Speed Adjustment Based On Content Classification And User History, Pratap Kalenahalli Sudarshan

Defensive Publications Series

Content sharing platforms can provide a playback speed setting that remains static across different types of media. This limitation requires manual adjustment when a user switches between content categories, such as educational tutorials, podcasts, or music. This disclosure provides a mechanism for dynamically adjusting playback speed based on content classification and historical user preferences. Content can be categorized using classification systems and generative summaries to determine its nature and flow. An initial playback speed can be determined by analyzing average speeds for similar content across the content sharing platform. This speed can then be personalized by incorporating the specific user’s …

Monetizing Media Inventories Using Multi-Modal Contextual Analysis And Predictive Ad Targeting, Caroline Pieracci, Carlo Bufalini Feb 2026

Monetizing Media Inventories Using Multi-Modal Contextual Analysis And Predictive Ad Targeting, Caroline Pieracci, Carlo Bufalini

Defensive Publications Series

Monetizing large media libraries, for example, archived content, may be challenging when targeting methods lack a granular understanding of context within a media asset. A system can employ a contextual intelligence engine to perform a multi-modal analysis of visual, auditory, and textual elements within media content, which can generate a detailed, time-stamped metadata profile for each asset. This structured data may be used for multiple targeting applications, such as linking user intent signals to relevant archived content, identifying trends for ad placements, or predicting potential viewership. This process can facilitate the dynamic creation of contextually relevant advertising opportunities. Such opportunities …

Factors That Contribute To Lone-Wolf Terrorist Attacks In The United States, Kevin Klatte Feb 2026

Factors That Contribute To Lone-Wolf Terrorist Attacks In The United States, Kevin Klatte

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Within the United States, current strategies aimed to prevent terrorism focus on terrorist organizations and international terrorism. The predominant literature on lone-wolf terrorism has focused mainly on quantitative data, and the qualitative studies that have been conducted do not uncover all factors that led to the individual committing the attack. Lone-wolf terrorism, while less frequent than international terrorism, has a significantly higher number of victims per attack and is extremely difficult to predict and prevent. The existing qualitative literature has heavily focused on the mental state, emotional status, and cognitive ability of the offender. This study explored why an individual …

Incarceration’S Impact On Young Adults’ Psychological Development, Well-Being, And Reintegration Into Society, Monica Murrell Feb 2026

Incarceration’S Impact On Young Adults’ Psychological Development, Well-Being, And Reintegration Into Society, Monica Murrell

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This qualitative phenomenological study explored how individuals who experienced incarceration during emerging adulthood understood and made meaning of their developmental, emotional, and psychosocial experiences. Emerging adulthood, defined as ages seventeen through twenty-five, is a critical developmental stage, and incarceration during this period may disrupt identity formation and emotional maturation. The purpose of the study was to examine the perspectives and coping mechanisms of individuals incarcerated during this stage to better understand how early adult imprisonment shapes trauma responses, identity development, and reintegration. Social learning theory served as the conceptual framework. Data was collected through interviews with six formerly incarcerated adults …

Cybersecurity In Higher Education Institutions: Awareness, Policy, And Experience On Employee Behaviour, Abdullahi Abiodun Yusuf, Adriana A. Steyn Feb 2026

Cybersecurity In Higher Education Institutions: Awareness, Policy, And Experience On Employee Behaviour, Abdullahi Abiodun Yusuf, Adriana A. Steyn

Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice

The digital transformation of higher education institutions (HEIs) has introduced unprecedented connectivity and operational efficiency, but it has also heightened their exposure to cyber threats. South African HEIs, in particular, face increasing vulnerability due to their reliance on technology, openness, and diverse user communities. This study examines the influence of the institutional cybersecurity environment on employee cybersecurity-compliant behaviour (CCB), emphasising the critical roles of awareness, policy engagement, and experience. Drawing on Protection Motivation Theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour, a conceptual model was developed to explore how cybersecurity awareness, policy familiarity, and prior experience shape employees’ attitudes, subjective norms, …

Hampton’S Legacies Across Black And Indigenous Education: Subhumanity, Genocide And Self-Determination Of The Past And Present, Arcasia D. James-Gallaway, M. Nathan Tanner, Francena F.L. Turner Feb 2026

Hampton’S Legacies Across Black And Indigenous Education: Subhumanity, Genocide And Self-Determination Of The Past And Present, Arcasia D. James-Gallaway, M. Nathan Tanner, Francena F.L. Turner

College of Humanities and Social Sciences

How are Black and Indigenous education in the US related? How are antiBlackness and settler colonialism interconnected? This essay addresses these questions, reexamining the history of one of the only US schools to educate both groups: Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute. To explore the contemporary legacies of Hampton, we bring together a race-centered historical methodology and Black and Indigenous studies perspectives. We argue that three enduring legacies – subhumanity, genocide and self-determination – with roots in the school itself frame the present, collective struggle for Black and Indigenous justice in education. This focus provides both historical and current insights with …

2026 Event Invitations

VLA's MediateArt Training Program is a two-day intensive workshop of basic mediation training for attorneys, artists, arts administrators, and other professionals with an interest or background in the arts.

Participants will learn effective mediation skills, particularly as they relate to art-related issues, through observing mock-mediations, engaging in mediation simulations, and receiving feedback from program faculty. The workshop will focus on "deal mediation" negotiation, facilitative leadership skills, and resolution of disputes without resorting to litigation.

Following completion of the program, participants will be eligible to take part as mediators in VLA's MediateArt Program as matters arise.
