Closing The Gap Between Copyright Management Information And Metadata: A Critical Analysis Of Section 1202 Of The Digital Millennium Copyright Act And A Proposal For Sound Recording Standards, Haley Bridget Mccullough Mar 2026

Closing The Gap Between Copyright Management Information And Metadata: A Critical Analysis Of Section 1202 Of The Digital Millennium Copyright Act And A Proposal For Sound Recording Standards, Haley Bridget Mccullough

Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal

“Music metadata” is virtually any of type of content electronically embedded in a digital audio file and may include information that identifies various rightsholders of a copyrightable sound recording, such as producer(s) and performer(s). A standardized system for music metadata does not exist, and instead music industry stakeholders devote significant resources to maintain redundant and incongruent databases. As a result, licensees expend significant effort in tracking copyright holders and licensors risk inadequate protection and potential loss of royalties. Music metadata overlaps with copyright management information (CMI), which is information conveyed with a copyrighted work. For example, music metadata includes information …

How The States And The Ncaa Are Changing The Landscape Of Collegiate Name, Image, And Likeness Compensation, Carly Sirota

Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal

This Comment evaluates the recently enacted laws in California and Colorado which require universities in those states to allow student-athletes to receive compensation for their name, image, or likeness. When California first introduced this legislation, there was intense pushback from many in the intercollegiate community. However, less than a year after the bill was enacted, the NCAA’s Board of Governors has committed to changing their bylaws in compliance with the law. The Comment discusses some legal implications of the law for many student-athletes, especially female student-athletes, and how the NCAA should go beyond pay-to-play law compliance to create an equal …

This Comment will examine the many ways that courts struggle to balance the right of publicity and the First Amendment. The main issue is that docudramas are an intermediary production between movies and documentaries, and producers are claiming the protections that exist for those two mediums also protect their works. There has been only one Supreme Court case on the right of publicity. Since this ruling, however, lower courts have found that precedent to be too narrow and have decided cases individually. This has enabled courts to try docudrama right of publicity cases with a multitude of tests.

The Right Way To Pay Intercollegiate Student-Athletes: A Legal Risk Analysis, Ian K. Schumaker, Leeann M. Lower-Hoppe

Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal

“How should student-athletes get paid?” This is the next big question in the intercollegiate sport industry. While the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) fights relentlessly to protect the amateurism of intercollegiate athletics, public pressure continues to mount for establishing a method of paying student-athletes beyond scholarships and educational expenses. There are two compensation methods frequently discussed by the media, fans and practitioners in the industry: 1) compensating student-athletes through the university, or 2) compensating student-athletes through their name, image and likeness (NIL).

Method I gives rise to legal issues pertaining to Title IX, Fair Labor Standards Act, worker’s compensation, vicarious …

Fortification Of Flour Cultivated In The Territory Of The Republic Of Uzbekistan With Own Iron And Zinc, Nodira B. Kurbanova, Gulnoza Z. Djakhangirova, Bakhtiyar I. Kurbanov, Dase D. Klava

CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

The aim of the study is to investigate the regional characteristics of iron and zinc content in wheat and flour produced in Uzbekistan using instrumental neutron activation analysis, and on this basis to provide a scientific justification for effective approaches to flour fortification and the preservation of micronutrients during grain processing. The study analyzed wheat flour produced from grain grown in five regions of Uzbekistan (Khorezm, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Tashkent, and Fergana). Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) was applied for the first time in Uzbekistan to comprehensively assess the microelement composition of flour. It was found that fortification using natural sources …

Structure And Morphology Of Ultradispersed Erbium Ytterbium Oxide Powders Obtained By Deposition Method, Eygeniy N. Poddenezhny, Andrei A. Boiko, Natalya E. Drobyshevskaya, Vladimir S. Urbanovich, Ekaterina E. Trusova

CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

The aim of research is to develop a new method for synthesis of ultra-dispersed crystalline powders of lanthanide oxides, in particular, erbium oxide doped with ytterbium oxide, intended for making transparent ceramics. The formation of nanostructured powders of the erbium oxide – ytterbium oxide system using deposition and heat treatment processes by co-deposition of salt solutions mixed with ammonium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide complex solution at temperature of 10 °C followed annealing at 100, 650, 900 and 1200°C was studied. Studies of the morphological and structural characteristics of the powders using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray phase analysis showed that …

Chemistry Faculty Publications

This study reports the synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, and biological evaluation of a novel moxifloxacin hydrazide derivative (MOX-H) and its metal complexes with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), VO(IV), and Gd(III). The ligand was synthesized by hydrazinolysis of moxifloxacin hydrochloride, and the resulting hydrazide was subsequently complexed with the respective metal salts. The interaction between MOX-H and the metal ions yielded the corresponding complexes, formulated as [Co(H2O)Cl(MOX-H)2]Cl & centerdot;2.5H2O, [Ni(H2O)Cl(MOX-H)2]Cl.4.5H2O, [VO(MOX-H)2]SO4.3.5H2O, [Gd (H2O)(MOX-H)2(NO3)2]NO3.2H2O, and [Cu(MOX-H)2(H2O)Cl]Cl & centerdot;xH2O (where x = 2, 2.5, 0.5, for products synthesized via template, microwave-assisted, and hydrothermal methods, respectively). The synthesized analogues were characterized by elemental analysis (CHN), FT-IR, …

Who Let The Werewolves Into The Manuscripts: Written And Pictorial Representations Of Werewolves In English Manuscripts, Allison Slowiak Mar 2026

Who Let The Werewolves Into The Manuscripts: Written And Pictorial Representations Of Werewolves In English Manuscripts, Allison Slowiak

LSU Master's Theses

The werewolf – a fictional figure that transforms from human to wolf – serves as a compelling example of how medieval thought shaped ideas about identity and transformation. The motif of the werewolf, present in a small corpus of works from the tenth through the fourteenth century, emerged to explore the limits of change while also comparing the likeness of humanity to its animal counterpart. This paper explores medieval literature - Beowulf, Bisclavret, Biclarel, and Melion – from both French or English descent to offer overlapping and contrasting thoughts about human likeness to wolves. The manuscripts - The Nowell Codex, …
