A Unified Switched Nonlinear Dynamic Model Of An Electric Vehicle For Performance Evaluation, Dibyendu Khan, Kuntal Mandal, Anjan Kumar Ray, Abdelali El Aroudi
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications
The advanced modeling and estimation of overall system dynamics play a vital role in electric vehicles (EVs), as the selection of components in the powertrain and prediction of performance are the key market qualifiers. The state-space averaged model and small-signal transfer function model are useful for assessing long-term behavior in system-level analysis and for designing the controller parameters, respectively. Both models take less computation time but ignore the high-frequency switching dynamics. Therefore, these two models could be impractical for the development and testing of EV prototypes. On the other hand, the multi-domain model in available simulation tools gives in-depth information …

Safe-Net: Secure And Fast Encryption Using Network Of Pseudo-Random Number Generators, Jonathan Mccurdy
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
We propose a general framework to design a general class of random number generators suit- able for both computer simulation and computer security applications. It can include newly pro- posed generators SAFE (Secure And Fast Encryption) and ChaCha, a variant of Salsa, one of the four finalists of the eSTREAM ciphers. Two requirements for ciphers to be considered se- cure is that they must be unpredictable with a nice distributional property. Proposed SAFE-NET is a network of n nodes with external pseudo-random number generators as inputs nodes, several inner layers of nodes with a sequence of random variates through ARX …
Design And Optimization Of Devices And Architectures For Neuromorphic Silicon Photonics, Matthew Van Niekerk
Design And Optimization Of Devices And Architectures For Neuromorphic Silicon Photonics, Matthew Van Niekerk
Theses
Neuromorphic photonics is an exciting field at the intersection of neuroscience, integrated photonics, and microelectronics. To realize large-scale neural network-inspired systems, we must have a toolbox of linear and nonlinear operators. Here, we review state of the art for integrated photonic linear operators, which can perform linear operations using interference or wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) techniques, and nonlinear operators, which perform nonlinear operations with a combination of photodetection and modulation. We present some devices that fit into the needed toolbox. A new type of directional coupler, using skin depth engineering of electromagnetic waves, suppresses optical crosstalk and eliminates the need for waveguide …

School of Integrative Biological & Chemical Sciences (Formerly Dept. of Chemistry)
The effect of fluoro substitution on the C–C bond activation of aromatic nitriles has been studied by reacting a variety of fluorinated benzonitriles with the nickel(0) fragment [Ni(dippe)] and by locating the reaction intermediates and transition-state structures on the potential energy surface by using density functional theory calculations with the [Ni(dmpe)] fragment (dippe = 1,2-bis(diisopropylphosphino)ethane, dmpe = 1,2-bis(dimethylphosphino)ethane). As in the previous reports, the reaction of fluorinated benzonitriles with the [Ni(dippe)] fragment initially formed an η2-nitrile complex, which then converted to the C–CN bond activation product. Thermodynamic parameters for the equilibrium between these complexes have been determined experimentally in both …

Two-Particle Azimuthal Correlations In Γp Interactions Using Ppb Collisions At √SNn=8.16tev, A. Tumasyan
Two-Particle Azimuthal Correlations In Γp Interactions Using Ppb Collisions At √SNn=8.16tev, A. Tumasyan
Department of Physics and Astronomy: Faculty Publications
The first measurements of the Fourier coefficients (VnΔ) of the azimuthal distributions of charged hadrons emitted from photon-proton (γp) interactions are presented. The data are extracted from 68.8nb−1of ultra-peripheral proton-lead (pPb) collisions at √sNN=8.16 TeVusing the CMS detector. The high energy lead ions produce a flux of photons that can interact with the oncoming proton. This γp system provides a set of unique initial conditions with multiplicity lower than in photon-lead collisions but comparable to recent electron-positron and electron-proton data. The VnΔ coefficients are presented in ranges of event multiplicity and transverse momentum …

Enhanced Performance Of Gene Expression Predictive Models With Protein-Mediated Spatial Chromatin Interactions., Mateusz Chiliński, Jakub Lipiński, Abhishek Agarwal, Yijun Ruan, Dariusz Plewczynski
Faculty Research 2023
There have been multiple attempts to predict the expression of the genes based on the sequence, epigenetics, and various other factors. To improve those predictions, we have decided to investigate adding protein-specific 3D interactions that play a significant role in the condensation of the chromatin structure in the cell nucleus. To achieve this, we have used the architecture of one of the state-of-the-art algorithms, ExPecto, and investigated the changes in the model metrics upon adding the spatially relevant data. We have used ChIA-PET interactions that are mediated by cohesin (24 cell lines), CTCF (4 cell lines), and RNAPOL2 (4 cell …

Bifurcation From Infinity With Oscillatory Nonlinearity For Neumann Problems, M. Chhetri, Nsoki Mavinga, R. Pardo
Mathematics & Statistics Faculty Works
We consider a sublinear perturbation of an elliptic eigenvalue problem with Neumann boundary condition. We give sufficient conditions on the nonlinear perturbation which guarantee that the unbounded continuum, bifurcating from infinity at the first eigenvalue, contains an unbounded sequence of turning points as well as an unbounded sequence of resonant solutions. We prove our result by using bifurcation theory combined with a careful analysis of the oscillatory behavior of the continuum near the bifurcation point.
