Petroleum Engineering and Gas
Understanding the phase behavior and volumetric changes of reservoir fluids throughout the extent of reservoir lifetime are crucially required for effective-commercial oil recoveries. Ideally, reservoir fluid properties are experimentally measured by laboratory experiments known as PVT tests nonetheless, these tests are prohibitive, time-consuming, and required to restrict sampling and transporting procedures. For these discernible reasons, several modeling approaches have been developed. By reviewing the literature, one crucial obstacle that encounters field applicability of most extant models is the selection of input variables. Moreover, a great percentage of extant models employ the results of lengthy experimental tests such as differential gas …

Analyzing Novel Metal Alloys For Glucose Sensing And Electrocatalysis, Anna Grace Boddy
Analyzing Novel Metal Alloys For Glucose Sensing And Electrocatalysis, Anna Grace Boddy
Theses and Dissertations
In pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, metals and metal alloys often receive less attention compared to biological or organic compounds due to many factors including toxicity in the body for drug development or the cost of these metals. However, metals can play an important role in pharmaceuticals, having an impact on original cancer drugs, such as platinum used for head and neck tumors. Electrocatalysis is also another topic that receives less attention over topics such as chromatography in pharmaceuticals due to its potential toxic catalysts and voltages that could be harmful to the body. Electrocatalytic sensors can play an important role …
Elastin-Like Polypeptide As A Model To Study Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, Sadegh Majdi
Elastin-Like Polypeptide As A Model To Study Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, Sadegh Majdi
Theses and Dissertations
The elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) is a well-studied structural protein that is easily amenable to amino acid (AA) sequence modifications and has the potential to yield a wide variety of uses in bioengineering and biomedical applications. One unique property of ELP is the inclusion of intrinsically disordered domains (IDP) within the structure that allow for its diversity of physical properties. While it is generally understood that amino acid sequence dictates protein folding arrangements, the contributions of specific amino acid sequences to the intrinsic disorder of ELP has yet to be fully resolved. Therefore, identifying the contributions of specific amino acid sequences …

Generalized Splines On Graphs With Two Labels And Polynomial Splines On Cycles, Portia Anderson, Jacob P. Matherne, Julianna Tymoczko
Mathematics Sciences: Faculty Publications
Generalized splines are an algebraic combinatorial framework that generalizes and unifies various established concepts across different fields, most notably the classical notion of splines and the topological notion of GKM theory. The for- mer consists of piecewise polynomials on a combinatorial geometric object like a polytope, whose polynomial pieces agree to a specified degree of differentiability. The latter is a graph-theoretic construction of torus-equivariant cohomology that Shareshian and Wachs used to reformulate the well-known Stanley–Stembridge con- jecture, a reformulation that was recently proven to hold by Brosnan and Chow and independently Guay-Paquet. This paper focuses on the theory of generalized …

Non-Invasive Identification Of Vehicle Suspension Parameters: A Methodology Based On Synthetic Data Analysis, José Luis Olazagoitia, Alfonso De Hoyos Fernández De Córdova, Carlos Gijón-Rivera
Artículos científicos
In this study, we introduce an innovative approach for the identification of vehicle suspension parameters, employing a methodology that utilizes synthetic and experimental data for non-invasive analysis. Central to our approach is the application of a basic local optimization algorithm, chosen to establish a baseline for parameter identification in increasingly complex vehicle models, ranging from quarter-vehicle to half-vehicle (bicycle) models. This methodology enables the accurate simulation of the vehicle dynamics and the identification of suspension parameters under various conditions, including road perturbations such as speed bumps and curbs, as well as in the presence of noise. A significant aspect of …

Unveiling The Unique Ras Isoform And Domain Specific Regulation Of Braf Kinase, Tarah Trebino
Theses and Dissertations
BRAF kinase is a key member of the MAPK pathway, important for cell growth and division. Upstream signals promote BRAF activation by interaction with the membrane bound GTPase, RAS, which leads to relief of autoinhibition and dimerization. The N-terminal regulatory domains of BRAF, including the BRAF specific region (BSR), the RAS binding domain (RBD), and the cysteine rich domain (CRD), govern the conformational state of the cytosolic, autoinhibited monomer and drive the RAS-RAF interaction. Active BRAF phosphorylates and activates its substrate MEK, which in turn phosphorylates and activates ERK. Mutations in RAS and BRAF are the cause of many cancers …

Design And Building Of A Customizable, Single-Objective, Light-Sheet Fluorescence Microscope For The Visualization Of Cytoskeleton Networks, Nathan Felcher, Daisy H. Achiriloaie, Brian Lee, Ryan Mcgorty Phd, Janet Sheung
Physics and Biophysics: Faculty Scholarship
Reconstituted cytoskeleton composites have emerged as a valuable model system for studying non-equilibrium soft matter. The faithful capture of the dynamics of these 3D, dense networks calls for optical sectioning, which is often associated with fluorescence confocal microscopes. However, recent developments in light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) have established it as a cost-effective and, at times, superior alternative. To make LSFM accessible to cytoskeleton researchers less familiar with optics, we present a step-by-step beginner's guide to building a versatile light-sheet fluorescence microscope from off-the-shelf components. To enable sample mounting with traditional slide samples, this LSFM follows the single-objective light-sheet (SOLS) design, …

Rad-⊕-Supplemented Semimodules Over Semirings, Ahmed H. Alwan
Al-Bahir
. In this paper, Rad-⊕-supplemented semimodules are defined as generalization of ⊕-supplemented semimodules. Let R be a semiring. An R-semimodule A is called a Rad-⊕-supplemented semimodule, if each subsemimodule of A has a Rad-supplement which is a direct summand of A. Here, we investigate some properties of these semimodules and generalize some results on Rad-⊕-supplemented modules to semimodules. We prove that any finite direct sum of Rad-⊕-supplemented semimodules is Rad-⊕-supplemented. Also, we prove that if A is a subtractive semimodule with (D3) then A is Rad-⊕-supplemented if and only if every direct summand to A is …

Unveiling Efficiency: Investigating Distance Measures In Wastewater Treatment Using Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Fuzzy Soft Set, Muhammad Saeed, Kinza Kareem, Fatima Razzaq, Muhammad Saqlain
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
To reduce the threats that wastewater poses to human health and the environment, water treatment techniques must be improved. The use of a procedure that includes preparation, testing, primary and secondary treatments, filtration, disinfection, and continuous monitoring is therefore required. The objective of this research is to create a hybrid notion that extends the idea of an interval-valued neutrosophic fuzzy soft set (IVNFSS) to an interval-valued neutrosophic fuzzy set. Operations like complement, union, and integration are included in the idea. To improve decision-making accuracy, a quality-assessment distance measure is incorporated, offering a numerical representation of the disparity between various factors. …
