Application Of Driving Simulation Technology In Calibration Of Traffic Simulation Parameters, Shikun Liu, Yi Tang, Yonghong Liu
Application Of Driving Simulation Technology In Calibration Of Traffic Simulation Parameters, Shikun Liu, Yi Tang, Yonghong Liu
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: To address the insufficient accuracy in traffic simulation modeling due to the lack of in-depth consideration of complex driving behaviors, a calibration method for traffic simulation parameters based on driving simulation technology is proposed. The reconstruction and expansion project of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport Expressway is selected as the case. Using VISSIM simulation software, a comprehensive traffic simulation model of the entire route is constructed, and UC-winRoad software is employed to create the highly realistic driving simulation scenarios. Driving simulation experiments are conducted to extract the typical driving behavior characteristics in complex scenarios. Calibration functions for simulation parameters are …
3d Organ-Scale Models Of Tumor Growth And Treatment, Rafael Ramon Bravo
3d Organ-Scale Models Of Tumor Growth And Treatment, Rafael Ramon Bravo
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
To understand the dynamics of cancer, mathematical oncologists have developed models of tumor growth and treatment response. Some models are mechanistic and approach tumor growth at the cell-scale, focusing on the evolution of cancerous cells within the ecology of normal tissue, and are often simulated with agent-based modeling. Other models are more clinically motivated and model tumor growth operating at the organ-scale, using patient data to predict treatment response, and are often simulated with partial differential equations. We developed the Hybrid Automata Library which includes both agent-based modeling and partial differential equations for modeling at either of these scales. We …
Bayesian Analysis Of Hospital Service Quality: Pre- And Post-Covid, Ling Hu
Bayesian Analysis Of Hospital Service Quality: Pre- And Post-Covid, Ling Hu
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The hospital sector is the largest revenue-generating industry in the United States, with a revenue of $1.4 trillion in 2022, accounting for 5.8% of the U.S. GDP. Its service quality profoundly impacts societal welfare, especially given the aging population reached 55.8 million in 2020 and is expected to reach 82 million by 2050. Therefore, multiple policies aim to incentivize sustained healthcare service quality improvements. As an integral component of the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (HVBP) Program, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, administrated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), serves as a cornerstone …

Molybdenum Disulfide And Carbon Nanotubes Composite Electrode For Electrochemical Conversion Of Salinity Gradient Energy, Jia-Jun Li, Wei-Bin Zhang, Xin-Yu Liu, Jing-Lei Yang, Yi Yin, Ze-Qin Yang, Xue-Jing Ma
Journal of Electrochemistry
The ocean accounts for 97% of the total water resources on earth, covering over 70% of the map's surface area. With the continuous consumption of non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels and the rapid development of renewable energy, humans are increasingly paying attention to the utilization of ocean resources. Ocean energy includes tidal energy, wave energy, temperature difference energy, and salinity gradient energy. Salinity gradient energy is the energy generated by the interaction of seawater and fresh water, which is the ocean energy existing in the form of chemical energy. This energy is mostly generated in estuaries. The osmotic …

In Situ Diffuse Reflectance Spectroelectrochemistry Of Cathode Materials In Lithium-Ion Batteries, Lu-Lu Chen, Hao-Ran Li, Wei-Yi Liu, Wei Wang
Journal of Electrochemistry
Developing in situ spectroelectrochemistry methods, which can provide detailed information about species transformation during electrochemical reactions, is very important for studying electrode reaction mechanisms and improving battery performance. Studying real-time changes in the surface of electrode materials during normal operation can be an effective way to assess and optimize the practical performance of electrode materials, thus, in situ and in operando characterization techniques are particularly important. However, batteries are hard to be studied by in situ characterization measurements due to their hermetically sealed shells, and there is still much room for battery characterizations. In this work, a specially designed battery …

Ten Myths About Artificial Intelligence In Education, Louie Giray
Ten Myths About Artificial Intelligence In Education, Louie Giray
Higher Learning Research Communications
Objectives: I analyze, deconstruct, and debunk prevalent misconceptions about artificial intelligence (AI) in education.
Methods: This study identifies and presents ten common myths about AI in education, followed by concise explanations that counter each myth with the corresponding reality, relying on credible sources and evidence.
Results: AI does not replace educators; it lacks the vital human qualities crucial for effective learning experiences. Thus, it can complement rather than substitute for educators. Physical classrooms remain pivotal for fostering student engagement, an element AI cannot fully replicate, challenging the notion of AI replacing the need for traditional classrooms. Despite excelling in specific …

We provide a worldline representation of the one-loop effective action for a Dirac particle coupled to external scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axialvector fields. Extending previous work by two of the authors on the pure vector-axialvector case to all four couplings, it allows one to treat the real and the imaginary parts of the effective action in a unified manner, at the price of having a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian. Unlike existing worldline representations, our new worldline action contains terms with an odd number of Grassmann fields, leading to ordering problems that in the worldline formalism are usually encountered only in curved space. …

The burgeoning field of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for diabetes management faces significant challenges, particularly in achieving precise and stable biosensor performance under changing environmental conditions such as varying glucose concentrations and O2 levels. To address this, we present a novel biosensor based on the electroless coupling of glucose oxidation catalyzed by flavin-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (FAD-GDH) and O2 reduction catalyzed by bilirubin oxidase (BOD) via a redox polymer, dimethylferrocene-modified linear poly(ethylenimine), FcMe2-LPEI. Initial cyclic voltammetry tests confirm the colocalization of both enzymatic reactions within the potential range of the polymer, indicating an effective electron shuttle mechanism. …
The Influence Of Recycled Water On Microbial Source Tracking Techniques That Aim To Identify Untreated Sewage In Surface Waters, Aldo E. Lobos
The Influence Of Recycled Water On Microbial Source Tracking Techniques That Aim To Identify Untreated Sewage In Surface Waters, Aldo E. Lobos
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Fecal pollution in recreational waters can introduce pathogens that cause increased human health risk, where exposure can occur during recreational activities such as swimming, diving, surfing, and fishing. Furthermore, human fecal pollution (i.e., sewage) can introduce nutrients and other harmful chemicals that may negatively affect the environment and aquatic species. Generally, sewage is considered the highest risk to human health compared to animal fecal pollution because it typically contains a high diversity of pathogens (including human specific viruses), antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes associated with antibiotic resistance. However, pathogens are difficult to detect due to their low concentrations in the …

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This report mainly discusses the development of RET Proteolysis targeting chimera PROTAC molecules based on Selpercatinib (LOXO-292) and Sulfono-γ-AApeptide PROTAC. A PROTAC molecule is a bifunctional molecule composed of two active domains and a linker. It works by inducing selective protein intracellular degradation. This technology was first discussed by Kathleen Sakamoto, Ray Deshaies and Craig Crews in 2001. Using various E3 Ligase, such as CRBN, pVHL, beta-TrCP1, Mdm2, DCAF15, DCAF16, RNF114, and c-IAP1, the PROTAC technology has been applied to several novel drug development,. Yale University licensed the PROTAC technology to Arvinas in 2013–14. For my research, Chapter one summarizes …

The Application Of Multi-Isotope Analysis To Assist In Geoprofiling Unidentified Decedents Within Florida, Liotta D. Noche-Dowdy
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The biochemistry of human tissues can provide information for geoprofiling (geographic birthplace or migration patterns) of an unidentified decedent. Utilizing isotope analyses (both stable and radiogenic) from teeth, bone, nails, and/or hair reveals specific isotopic information that correlates to diverse geographic regions reflecting an individual’s birthplace and migration patterns. Isotope analysis of enamel and bone has been employed in bioarchaeology for decades to reconstruct the diet, health, and migration patterns of past populations. Isotope ratios measured from enamel can then be compared to isotope ratios measured from bone of the individual to track patterns of migration. The enamel from the …
Going Cashless: Privacy Implications For Gun Control In A Digital Economy, Liza Goldenberg
Going Cashless: Privacy Implications For Gun Control In A Digital Economy, Liza Goldenberg
The Journal of Business, Entrepreneurship & the Law
This paper will examine how, given the United States’ shift toward a cashless economy, the country’s top credit-card companies’ potential decision to implement a new merchant code for firearm-related transactions as a method of gun control will backfire, jeopardizing consumer privacy and leading to unregulated transactions through cryptocurrencies. Since the majority of gun violence stems from firearm transactions not involving credit cards, credit-card companies should abandon the new merchant code that dissuades Americans from exercising their fundamental rights. The American economy should focus on slowing the shift toward a digital economy so that federal and state governments can implement legislation …

Productivity And Genotypic Diversity Of Trifolium Ambiguum In The Central Caucasian Mountains, Georgia, R G. Patterson, P R. Espie
Productivity And Genotypic Diversity Of Trifolium Ambiguum In The Central Caucasian Mountains, Georgia, R G. Patterson, P R. Espie
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Trifolium ambiguum occurred in12 diverse grassland communities, ranging from 1700 m to 2850 m, in the Kasbegi region, Central Caucasus. Total herbage mass in mid summer ranged from 310 to 763 g/m2with T. ambiguum composition ranging from 0.5 to 51%. Maximum T. ambiguum production occurred in fertile, regularly mown hay meadows, but was reduced in severely grazed pastures. It has persisted in these communities after centuries of grazing or cutting, without fertiliser input. T. ambiguum ploidy levels were predominantly diploid (82% frequency of occurrence), often in conjunction with triploid (18%) or tetraploid (27%) genotypes. The triploid T. ambiguum genotype ( …

Nitrogen Nutrition Of Brant (Branta Bernicla L.) Grazing On Saltmarsh And Pasture Species, G Q.A Anderson, M Andrews, S M. Percival, J S. Kirby
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Captive brant Branta bernicla were fed a range of food plants to determine their ability to digest nitrogen and specifically soluble protein. Soluble protein levels in droppings were only a small fraction of those in plants, indicating substantial uptake or conversion. For white clover Trifolium repens L., uric acid content indicated that at least 50% of excreted nitrogen had been metabolised, strongly suggesting that a substantial fraction of soluble protein is utilised by the geese. Carbon/nitrogen ratios increased from plants to droppings while carbon/hydrogen ratios remained nearly constant indicating greater uptake of nitrogen relative to carbon. T. repens was found …
Measuring Spatial Variation Within Pastures, C K. Mcdonald, R M. Jones
Measuring Spatial Variation Within Pastures, C K. Mcdonald, R M. Jones
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Paddock means of pasture yield and composition can be inadequate or even misleading due to the spatial variability within pastures. The use of visual estimation procedures, particularly the BOTANAL technique, provides data suitable for analysing variability as many quadrats are sampled within the one paddock. Examples show how data from routine BOTANAL samplings can reveal small and paddock scale spatial variation, and how BOTANAL data can be used to examine relationships between the yield of legume and grass in a mixed pasture grazed at different stocking rates.
Effect Of Seed Storage On Integrity Of Grass Germplasm, G Zurek
Effect Of Seed Storage On Integrity Of Grass Germplasm, G Zurek
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Experiment on estimation of qualitative changes in populations of meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.) after seed storage in different conditions were taken. Phenotypical traits for plants derived from seeds stored during 54 months in two different kind of storage conditions were compared. Storage of meadow fescue seed during 54 months in unfavourable conditions resulted in decrease of initial germination as well as in increase of abnormal seedlings and variation. Germination of seed samples stored in cold and dry conditions remain at the initial level. Results of the above experiment prove great variability of tested samples in case of reaction …

Post-Harvest Residue Management For Fine Fescue Seed Crops In Oregon, T G. Chastain, W C. Young Iii, G L. Kiemnec, C J. Garbacik, G A. Gingrich, G H. Cook
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
On-farm trials were conducted from 1992 to 1995 to investigate the efficacy of alternative post-harvest residue management practices for production of fine-leaf fescue seed crops, creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra L.) and Chewings fescue (F. rubra L. ssp. commutata Gaud.). Seed yield and seed quality were maintained in Chewings fescue seed crops without burning when residue management techniques removed most of the straw and stubble remaining after harvest. Seed yield was reduced to unacceptable levels by all nonthermal management practices in creeping red fescue.

Proximate Composition Of Mature Seeds From Soybean Plants Grown In Different Environments, T M. Kuo, E Eskins, R L. Cooper
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
The objectives of this study were to examine the influence of differences in sunlight irradiation on the accumulation of soluble oligosaccharides in mature soybean (Glycine max L.) seeds and to determine the correlations between important seed constituents. Plants were grown in field houses covered with plastic filters that varied sunlight irradiation. The most obvious effect of both blueand red-deficient sunlight was a reduction in the level of stachyose and sucrose that coincided with an increase in raffinose level and decreased oil content. Blue growth house which was deficient in red light spectrum also produced seeds with an increased protein content. …

Management Requirements For Dryland Creeping Bentgrass Seed Production, D J. Cattani, R Gjuric, D E. Feindel, P R. Miller, S R. Smith Jr
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
An extensive research project was initiated in 1992 to develop a dryland seed production system for creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) in western Canada. Two objectives involved determining the appropriate renovation method and spring nitrogen timing and rate to maximize seed yield. Renovation experiments included scalping, mowing, aeration, tillage, burning and chemical and mechanical gapping and spring N fertilization experiments included at 0, 50, 100, and 150 kg N ha-1 at two dates. Scalping (removal of stubble and growth to 1.25 cm) showed the greatest potential to maintain seed yields. Timing of renovation was also important with early (after …
