Aerial Phytomass And Carbon Sequestrated By The Kitshanga Forest Massif In The Wamba Valley In Dr-Congo, Mayanu Pemba, Ntalakwa Makolo, Kidikwadi Tango, Lubini Ayingweu

Journal of Bioresource Management

Aerial phytomass and carbon sequestrated by the Kitshanga forest massif in the Wamba valley in DR-Congo. The general objective was to evaluate the aerial phytomass and the carbon contained in the ligneous tissues of the trees. Specifically, the research aims to: (i) inventory all individuals in the Kitshanga gallery forest; (ii) identify the species in the study area; (iii) determine the floristic composition and density of the stand studied and (iv) evaluate the phytomass and the carbon sequestered by this vegetation. Inventory devices full on 1 hectare subdivided by 400 m² to obtain 25 plots which constitute the size of …

Review On Treatment Outcome Of Patient With Acute Bacterial Meningitis In Pediatrics, Uswa Insaf, Faiza Waseem, Nadia Iqbal, Tehseen Riaz, Irfan Bashir, Waqas Akram

Journal of Bioresource Management

Antibiotic treatment improves outcomes of treatment, but extensively available antibiotics efficiency is vulnerable by globally appearance of development of multidrug-resistant bacteria. An infectious etiology arises, such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, mycobacteria, or parasites, or be related with cancer, autoimmunity, or medications reaction. The causative organism was recognized by most patients treated with antibiotics, culture of the CSF and blood, by countercurrent immune-electrophoresis of fluids. Neisseria meningitidis, Hemophilus influenzae b and Streptococcus pneumoniae are the commonest causes of bacterial meningitis. Bacterial meningitis has adequately extreme in the pediatrics people of developing countries. Many people with bacterial meningitis don't have any …

Experimental-Numerical Model Comparison Of A Dynamic Power Cable For A Floating Offshore Wind Turbine, Anna Holcombe, Martyn Hann, Scott Brown, Shanshan Cheng, Robert Rawlinson-Smith, Rachel Nicholls-Lee, Tom Tosdevin, Emma Edwards, Kieran Monk Mar 2025

Experimental-Numerical Model Comparison Of A Dynamic Power Cable For A Floating Offshore Wind Turbine, Anna Holcombe, Martyn Hann, Scott Brown, Shanshan Cheng, Robert Rawlinson-Smith, Rachel Nicholls-Lee, Tom Tosdevin, Emma Edwards, Kieran Monk

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Dynamic power cables for floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) are designed using global numerical modelling tools, to optimise cable configuration. The presented study is a comparison between a global numerical model and a scale physical model, of a dynamic power cable during an operational sea state and a 1-in-50-year storm. Ocean basin experiments were performed with a 1:70 scale model of a dynamic power cable, connected in a tethered wave configuration to a semi-submersible FOWT in water depth representing 70 m, in the COAST laboratory at the University of Plymouth. Measured values of the physical model were used in the …

The Bullwhip: Time-To-Build And Sectoral Fluctuations, Yan Leng, Ernest Liu, Yifei Ren, Tsyvinski Aleh Mar 2025

The Bullwhip: Time-To-Build And Sectoral Fluctuations, Yan Leng, Ernest Liu, Yifei Ren, Tsyvinski Aleh

Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers

We develop a theory of sectoral fluctuations driven by the propagation of demand shocks along supply chains with heterogeneous time-to-build production. We solve the model in closed form. Downstream producers respond directly to current demand. Upstream producers, due to time-to-build delays, respond to anticipated future demand. Consequently, hump-shaped demand shocks to downstream goods propagate and amplify along the supply chain, generating pronounced volatility in upstream sectors and creating the bullwhip effect. Empirically and quantitatively, we show that the bullwhip is significant across downstream sectors that are important for final consumption.

Understanding The Experiences Of Biology Teachers During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Amber R. Collins Mar 2025

Understanding The Experiences Of Biology Teachers During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Amber R. Collins

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

ABSTRACT

The 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic has caused the world to focus on the transition of learning environments that are more digital and virtual than any other time in educational history. Schools all over the world were required to adjust not only the mode of instruction, such as in virtual, hybrid, or in-person, but also create guidelines and procedures that reduce the amount of interaction between the teacher and the student (Garbe, Ogurlu, Uzeyir, & Cook, 2020). The research questions that guided this study were: 1) What are the experiences of five Biology teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic in transitioning to …

How To Create A Distinctly Native Journal, Larry W. Chavis Mar 2025

How To Create A Distinctly Native Journal, Larry W. Chavis

Indigenous Business & Public Administration

In this essay, I describe three characteristics that Indigenous Business and Public Administration should aim to develop to be a distinctly Native journal. The journal should not be contained by dominant stereotypes of Native Americans. It should reflect the adaptability and innovation that Native Americans have shown in surviving the continuing colonial endeavor to erase us. Finally, the relationships between members of this community should be prioritized at least as much as the content. I developed these characteristics by reflecting on my experiences in higher education along with the ideas of other Native scholars.

Human Security And The Idiot: “Can Beauty Really Save The World”, Aaron Tyler Mar 2025

Human Security And The Idiot: “Can Beauty Really Save The World”, Aaron Tyler

The Journal of Social Encounters

A key point of progress in the systematic considerations of the causality and cessation of violent conflict is found in the evolving idea of human security. In a collective effort to respond to the chaotic reality of violent engagement, human security emerged toward the end of the twentieth century as a multilateral, person-centered paradigm for thinking about and pursuing conflict transformation. As human security enters a third generation of development, scholars and policymakers continue to discern the usefulness of this holistic, multilateral paradigm for security. The efficacy of human security outcomes will depend on how the individual and collective within …

Literacy For All: A Phenomenological Study On The Application Of Massachusetts Informational Reading Standards In Massachusetts Public High School Content-Area Disciplines, Abby S. Gillis Mar 2025

Literacy For All: A Phenomenological Study On The Application Of Massachusetts Informational Reading Standards In Massachusetts Public High School Content-Area Disciplines, Abby S. Gillis

Doctor of Education Program Dissertations

The purpose of this phenomenological qualitative study was to describe the lived experiences of Massachusetts public high school content-area teachers with applying Massachusetts informational reading standards in their instructional practices to support reading development for all students. This qualitative study utilized data collected from six Massachusetts public high school content-area teachers through one-on-one semi-structured interviews. The literature review applied the theoretical framework of SFL which focuses on the practice of studying texts through the social and cultural context of the text, in this case, in content-area curricular texts and resources. Themes focused on national and local informational reading standards, reading …
