Effect Of Cycle Coaching On Middle School Math Achievement, Lauren Wilson Apr 2025

Effect Of Cycle Coaching On Middle School Math Achievement, Lauren Wilson

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The problem addressed in this project study was that 96% of middle school students at the local district did not meet proficient level on the math state assessment (MSA). School leaders implemented coaching cycles grounded in the theory of action for teacher coaching to enhance teacher knowledge and practice and to improve student achievement; however, the effectiveness of this intervention was unknown. The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate the difference in MSA scores between middle school students whose teachers participated in cycle coaching and students whose teachers did not, while controlling for the previous year’s MSA score. …

Antioxidant Activity Of Pamam Dendrimer Stabilized Ascorbic Acid, Gabriella Srikureja Apr 2025

Antioxidant Activity Of Pamam Dendrimer Stabilized Ascorbic Acid, Gabriella Srikureja

Honors Theses

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is an essential micronutrient for human health. It acts as an enzymatic cofactor in anabolic biochemical pathways such as the synthesis of collagen, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Unfortunately, this versatility comes at the cost of a high degradation rate both in and outside of the food matrix. Previous research exploring stabilizing aqueous ascorbic acid through Poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers found success in reducing the rate of degradation.

To confirm the antioxidant activity of ascorbic acid in its stabilized dendrimer complex, 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assays examined via Cary 5000 UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer found that performing the DPPH assay under aqueous conditions …

Constructing And Confirming The Viability Of Nested Helmholtz Coils As An Education Model For Clinical Mri Systems, Yoel Kim Apr 2025

Constructing And Confirming The Viability Of Nested Helmholtz Coils As An Education Model For Clinical Mri Systems, Yoel Kim

Honors Theses

Our goal was to construct a viable laboratory model utilizing oscillating compasses as a visual and manipulable analogue for magnetically resonant proton procession in a clinical magnetic resonance (MR) system for students without a strong background in nuclear physics. The constructed model -- which utilized concentric perpendicular helmholtz coils -- was tested for its ability to replicate the 3 central components in the clinical MR system: the main coils, the RF coils and the gradient coils. Experiments were conducted to demonstrate that each portion of the apparatus was successfully able to model its analogue in the clinical MR system, as …

Formative Research For A Family Counseling-Special Education Advocacy Intervention, Rosalind C. Ceasar Apr 2025

Formative Research For A Family Counseling-Special Education Advocacy Intervention, Rosalind C. Ceasar

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Families of children with disabilities may face challenges with their children’s education which increases their risk of mental health problems. This formative, qualitative research was to explore the practices of mental health counselors who incorporate special education advocacy into counseling, to advise the development of a family counseling-special education advocacy program. The research question was: what are the special education advocacy practices of mental health counselors when they work with students who require special education and related services and their families, and how can the practices inform the formal development of a family counseling-special education advocacy intervention? Bartholemew et al.’s …

Neutrosophic Automata And Its Algebraic Properties, Anil Kr. Ram, Anupam K. Singh

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

This research endeavors to elucidate the interrelationships among various classes of operators, including neutrosophic successor/neutrosophic source/neutrosophic core operators of neutrosophic automata based on neutrosophic resituated lattices. Furthermore, it delves into the characterization of algebraic properties such as neutrosophic subsystem, neutrosophic connectivity, and neutrosophic separability of a neutrosophic automaton using these operators. Finally, we study the concepts of neutrosophic primaries of the given neutrosophic automata using neutrosophic core operators.

An Approach For Hybridizing N-Subalgebra With Quantified Neutrosophic Set Using G-Algebra, Neha Andaleeb Khalid, Muhammad Saeed Apr 2025

An Approach For Hybridizing N-Subalgebra With Quantified Neutrosophic Set Using G-Algebra, Neha Andaleeb Khalid, Muhammad Saeed

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Neutrosophic sets are a generalized form of fuzzy sets as well as intuitionistic fuzzy sets, as they address the uncertainty factor as an independent component along with truthfulness and falsity. However, traditional neutrosophic approaches often struggle with effectively managing and quantifying indeterminate elements in complex algebraic structures. To address this limitation, this paper employs an expanded version of the neutrosophic set, incorporating a subalgebra. The proposed research is multifaceted: firstly, the new concept of N-Subalgebra (NSU) is proposed. This is the modified setting in the family of subalgebras whose proposed name is the representation of the author's initial name. Secondly, …

A Neutrosophic Micro Vague Correlation Measure: Application To Multi-Criteria Decision Making Problems, Vargees Vahini T, Trinita Pricilla M

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Statistical methods called correlation measures are employed to express the degree of association or relationship between two variables. The correlation coefficient which may be computed in a variety of ways is the most often used kind of correlation measure in many disciplines including biology, psychology, economics, and finance. Knowing the correlations between variables is essential for analysis and decision-making. This paper aims to commence a novel type of correlation measure called Neutrosophic Micro vague Correlation Measure and Neutrosophic Micro Vague Weighted Correlation Measure. Further demonstrates the implementation of the Neutrosophic Micro Vague correlation measure in the MCDM Problem. By adopting …

A Reconsideration Of Advanced Concepts In Neutrosophic Graphs: Smart, Zero Divisor, Layered, Weak, Semi, And Chemical Graphs, Takaaki Fujita, Florentin Smarandache Apr 2025

A Reconsideration Of Advanced Concepts In Neutrosophic Graphs: Smart, Zero Divisor, Layered, Weak, Semi, And Chemical Graphs, Takaaki Fujita, Florentin Smarandache

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

One of the most powerful tools in graph theory is the classification of graphs into distinct classes based on shared properties or structural features. Over time, many graph classes have been introduced, each aimed at capturing specific behaviors or characteristics of a graph. Neutrosophic Set Theory, a method for handling uncertainty, extends fuzzy logic by incorporating degrees of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Building on this framework, Neutrosophic Graphs [9, 84, 135] have emerged as significant generalizations of fuzzy graphs. In this paper, we extend several classes of fuzzy graphs to Neutrosophic graphs and analyze their properties.

Solving N-Players Continuous Differential Games Under Neutrosophic Environment, M. G. Brikaa Apr 2025

Solving N-Players Continuous Differential Games Under Neutrosophic Environment, M. G. Brikaa

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Uncertainty plays a crucial role in decision-making problems, particularly in game theory. Various forms of uncertainty have been explored in the literature, including fuzzy, soft, rough, and interval-based approaches. Game theory has been extensively studied under these uncertainty models, with researchers addressing vagueness, and imprecision from multiple perspectives. More recently, neutrosophic sets have emerged as an alternative framework for handling uncertainty. Neutrosophic numbers effectively incorporate indeterminacy in decision-making by considering factors such as intuition, assumptions, judgment, behavior, evaluation, and preferences of decision-makers. This paper presents a novel approach to solving a new class of n-player continuous differential games within a …

Normalized And Directional Interplay Scoring For The Interrogation Of Proteoform Data, Karl F Poncha, Alyssa T Paparella, Nicolas L Young

Faculty, Staff and Students Publications

Histone proteoforms, often presenting multiple co-occurring post-translational modifications (PTMs), are central to chromatin regulation and gene expression. A proteoform is a specific form of a protein that includes variations arising from genetic changes, alternative RNA splicing, proteolytic processing, and PTMs. Genome-indexed histone proteoforms define the histone code, influencing cellular phenotype by dictating DNA interacting partners. Understanding the dynamics of histone proteoforms is essential for elucidating chromatin-based regulatory mechanisms. Advances in middle-down and top-down proteomics enable accurate identification and quantitation of thousands of proteoforms in a single run. However, the resulting data complexity presents significant challenges for analysis and visualization. Here, …

A Woman's Place In Politics: The Effects Of Gendered Politics On A Global Level, Aruhi Kodeboyina Apr 2025

A Woman's Place In Politics: The Effects Of Gendered Politics On A Global Level, Aruhi Kodeboyina

Undergraduate Student Symposium

Women have been denied equality, especially with respect to their male counterparts. Feminism is the theory that seeks to explain this by the norms, beliefs, and societal pressure by which women have been excluded. One predominant realm in which women have been excluded is politics. Although there has been a rise in female politicians across the world, they continue to face the same stereotypes as before. Thus, this study delves into the implications of having more female leaders, looking more specifically at liberal feminist international relations theory. By reviewing literature, this study finds that female leaders impact a variety of …

Statistical Programming Package For Simplified Data Exploration, Liam Raymon, Jennifer Schon Apr 2025

Statistical Programming Package For Simplified Data Exploration, Liam Raymon, Jennifer Schon

Celebration of Research

Simple linear regression can be very helpful for exploring a dataset through identifying variable relationships and the percentage of variance in the dependent variable explained by the model. The project showcases a coding package for the statistical programming language R that I have created to provide a streamlined approach to exploring data through linear regression. Packages serve as extensions of coding languages to add features or functions. This package automates simple linear regression and outputs key values for data exploration such as p value, R^2, and independent variable coefficients in an organized and concise manner. In addition to regression, this …

Opioid Vs. Money Choice Preference Patterns In Regular Heroin Users, Amolak S. Jhand, Mark Greenwald Apr 2025

Opioid Vs. Money Choice Preference Patterns In Regular Heroin Users, Amolak S. Jhand, Mark Greenwald

Medical Student Research Symposium

About two-thirds of people treated for opioid use disorder (OUD) return to opioid use within the first-year post-treatment, and about 10% report use while on agonist therapy. Understanding determinants of opioid-seeking is vital to reducing recurrence and its risks. We assessed individual differences in effortful choices between opioid and money amounts, modeling real-world choices.

Our lab conducted studies in which regular heroin-users were stabilized on buprenorphine to suppress withdrawal. Within experimental sessions, the participant could choose repeatedly across 12 trials between units of hydromorphone (HYD, 1 or 2 mg IM) vs. money ($2 or $4); HYD and money amounts differed …

Prentiss Mellen, Maine's First Chief Justice: A Legal Biography, Ellyn C. Ballou Apr 2025

Prentiss Mellen, Maine's First Chief Justice: A Legal Biography, Ellyn C. Ballou

Maine Law Review

It is in the bosoms of his contemporaries of the profession, and of his clients and personal friends, that the memory of the lawyer is embalmed . . . . [Chief Justice Mellen's] life furnishes a striking illustration of the justness of the preceding remarks, since it was that of one almost exclusively conversant with the active practice of the law. Thus wrote Simon Greenleaf shortly after Prentiss Mellen's death. Greenleaf, perhaps due to the modesty of one in a similar position, was only partially correct. True, few today, even in the legal profession, recognize the name of Maine's first …

Reassessing "Confiscation" Under Section 305 Of Maine's Public Utility Law, Maine Law Review

Maine Law Review

On March 11, 1975, the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) denied a petition by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. (the company) for an "interim" rate increase. The company had sought to increase its revenues by $6,582,987 per year, pending the outcome of its petition before the PUC of October 1974 for a permanent rate increase of $21 million annually. After the PUC refused the company a rehearing on its denial of the interim rate increase, the company appealed to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, alleging that the PUC had acted so as to leave in effect rates which …
