Stem Integration In Robotics: Strengthening Problem-Solving Skills Through Challenge-Based Learning, Joel B. Jalon Jr., Cristina B. Abanilla May 2025

Stem Integration In Robotics: Strengthening Problem-Solving Skills Through Challenge-Based Learning, Joel B. Jalon Jr., Cristina B. Abanilla

Annual Research Congress for High School and Elementary Teachers, Researchers, and Scholars (ARCHERS)

One core goal of integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and robotics is to solve problems. However, many schools struggle with STEM integration, and one recurring issue is the lack of strict instructional design in delivering STEM-integrated lessons. This mixed-methods quasi-experimental research design study explores how the STEM integration within Challenge-based Learning (CBL) enhances students’ problem-solving skills in robotics. Twenty senior high school students designed robotic solutions for community issues over 10 3-hour sessions. A thematic analysis reveals four key themes on how students perceived the instructional design enhances their problem-solving skills: applying STEM knowledge to real-world problemsolving, developing …

Transforming The Math Classroom: Exploring Teachers’ Experiences In Implementing A Gender-Responsive Pedagogy, Shiela Rose E. Salvador May 2025

Transforming The Math Classroom: Exploring Teachers’ Experiences In Implementing A Gender-Responsive Pedagogy, Shiela Rose E. Salvador

Annual Research Congress for High School and Elementary Teachers, Researchers, and Scholars (ARCHERS)

Tackling gender disparities in mathematics education is essential for promoting equity and inclusion in the classroom. This study examines teachers' experiences in implementing a gender-responsive pedagogy to transform their math classrooms. The findings resulted in the development of a three-phase framework designed to cultivate a thriving math classroom environment for all students. The framework focuses on (1) empowering individual learners by fostering a growth mindset and personalized instruction, (2) establishing a supportive classroom system through the GENDER mnemonic strategy, which emphasizes addressing gender needs and creating a more equitable learning environment, and (3) encouraging continuous improvement. The analysis indicates the …

Effectiveness Of A Contextualized Interactive Multimedia For Grade 8 Science Students, Richard G. Cadizal, Ma. Cristina Bandarlipe May 2025

Effectiveness Of A Contextualized Interactive Multimedia For Grade 8 Science Students, Richard G. Cadizal, Ma. Cristina Bandarlipe

Annual Research Congress for High School and Elementary Teachers, Researchers, and Scholars (ARCHERS)

The Computer-Assisted Instruction is undertaken widely to catch interest and to improve student’s performance. This Descriptive and Quasi- Experimental research was anchored in determining the effects of the developed and validated Contextualized Interactive Multimedia (CIMM) to the non-equivalent groups of grade 8 students of Tanglag National High School in their Science subject. To determine the level of interest of the population toward Science subject, the researcher utilized a 10-item survey-questionnaire called Test of Related Science Attitude (TORSA). Additionally, a researcher-made pretest and posttest questionnaires were administered to determine the academic performance of the respondents. Findings showed that there is an …

Relating Intrinsic Motivation And Mathematics Achievement, Benjamin G. Ola Jr., Jason O. Moseros, Eric Tadeo May 2025

Relating Intrinsic Motivation And Mathematics Achievement, Benjamin G. Ola Jr., Jason O. Moseros, Eric Tadeo

Annual Research Congress for High School and Elementary Teachers, Researchers, and Scholars (ARCHERS)

Motivation plays a crucial role in influencing behavior and engagement in various activities. It can be categorized into two types: extrinsic motivation, which is driven by external rewards, and intrinsic motivation, which arises from internal satisfaction. In the academic domain, intrinsic motivation is particularly significant for student learning and achievement. This study focuses on intrinsic motivation in the context of mathematics achievement among high school students, aiming to measure its impact and categorize it into three dimensions: intrinsic motivation to know (IMTK), intrinsic motivation towards accomplishment (IMTA), and intrinsic motivation to experience stimulation (IMES). A survey-based research tool, the Academic …

Are Cycles Of Neural Activity The Algorithm Of The Brain?, Edwin Omondi Onyango May 2025

Are Cycles Of Neural Activity The Algorithm Of The Brain?, Edwin Omondi Onyango

Computer Science Senior Theses

We propose that precisely timed neural activity cycles can serve as structural primitives for memory and computation in a system that exhibits associative learning like the brain. Inspired by biologically grounded mechanisms such as calcium-dependent plasticity, spike-timing-dependent learning, and phase-sensitive excitability, we construct a spiking neural network model in which repeated temporal coincidences drive the formation of self-sustaining activity loops. These cycles, once formed, persist as dynamic memory traces: not stored as static weights, but as reverberating patterns that replay in time when these loops are restarted. We show that noise alone fails to induce stable structure, but even sparse, …

Some Studies On Information Set Decoding Algorithms And Universal Hash Functions, Sreyosi Bhattacharyya May 2025

Some Studies On Information Set Decoding Algorithms And Universal Hash Functions, Sreyosi Bhattacharyya

Doctoral Theses

This thesis presents some studies on Information Set Decoding algorithms and Universal Hash Functions. In the context of Information Set Decoding (ISD) the thesis studies time/memory trade-off of ISD algorithms and in the context of universal hash functions, the thesis studies design and efficient implementations of polynomial hash functions defined over prime order fields. A cornerstone of ISD algorithms is the algorithm proposed by Stern and it introduced the meet-in-the-middle collision search approach to ISD algorithms. Though this algorithm is more efficient in terms of asymptotic time complex- ity than the preceding algorithms proposed by Prange, Lee and Brickell and …
