The Legal System For Influencers On Social Media Platforms: A Comparative Study, Ahmad Ibrahim Ballal, Najem Riyad Al-Rabadi, Ma’Moun Rashed Al-Huneiti Aug 2025

The Legal System For Influencers On Social Media Platforms: A Comparative Study, Ahmad Ibrahim Ballal, Najem Riyad Al-Rabadi, Ma’Moun Rashed Al-Huneiti

Middle East Journal of Communication Studies

This study explores the legal regulation of social media influencers through a comparative analysis between French and Jordanian legislation. The research problem lies in the absence of a clear and comprehensive legal framework regulating influencers' growing role in shaping public opinion. Using the comparative analytical method, the study examines relevant legal texts and regulatory approaches in both jurisdictions. The findings highlight significant differences, with France enacting a specific law to govern influencer activities, while Jordan still relies on general legal provisions. The study recommends drafting a dedicated Jordanian law that outlines influencers' legal responsibilities and balances freedom of expression with …

Tracing Tremor: From Upper-Limb Neuromusculoskeletal Dynamics To Movement Signatures In Essential Tremor, Landon J. Beutler Aug 2025

Tracing Tremor: From Upper-Limb Neuromusculoskeletal Dynamics To Movement Signatures In Essential Tremor, Landon J. Beutler

Theses and Dissertations

Tremor is a common neurological condition that significantly impairs the quality of life for millions. Despite this prevalence, the underlying mechanisms of its propagation remain poorly understood, and current treatment options often rely on trial-and-error methods. Moreover, the most common type, Essential Tremor (ET), presents a unique challenge due to its heterogeneity--patients exhibit a wide range of symptoms, severities, and responses to treatment. This thesis primarily advances tremor understanding through computational modeling, with a secondary focus on data-driven subtyping of ET via cluster analysis. These parallel paths aim to improve both mechanistic insight and clinical classification. Tremor propagation refers to …

Design Of A Fan-Based Test Stand For Evaluating Multicopter Handling In Turbulent Flow, Salim Roig

Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Theses

With the innovation of eVTOL rotorcraft the need to analyze how turbulence-induced disturbances from orthogonal flow affect various rotorcraft configurations outside of simulations have grown significantly. To investigate the behavior of this type of flow and how it interacts with various rotorcraft configurations, a turbulent inducing test stand was designed and constructed. The test stand will have two walls of computer fans arranged in an L-shape frame, creating wind gusts that simulate the non-linear turbulent wind experienced by eVTOL. This also aids the Eagle Flight Research Center (EFRC) in their efforts to better understand how disturbances affect the handling qualities …

Global Erk/Mapk Activation Determines Oncogenic Fitness In Kras-Mutant Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, Rachel A. Burge Aug 2025

Global Erk/Mapk Activation Determines Oncogenic Fitness In Kras-Mutant Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, Rachel A. Burge

MUSC Theses and Dissertations

In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), ~95% of cases harbor an activating KRAS mutation. The most common KRAS mutations in PDAC are KRASG12D (42%), KRASG12V (31%), and KRASG12R (15%). Patients harboring KRASG12R mutations have increased overall survival compared to those with KRASG12D/V-mutations. While KRASG12D/Vare common in all KRAS-mutant cancers, KRASG12Ris only common in PDAC.

KRASG12R is unable to activate the lipid kinase PIK3CA, a KRAS effector that is important for tumorigenesis in murine models. To investigate the tumorigenic potential of KRASG12R and the mechanisms that enable this mutation …

Spatio-Temporal Variability Of San Francisco Bay Plume From Space, Piero L. F. Mazzini, Cassia Pianca, L. Fernando Pareja-Roman, Kelly L. Cole, Ryan K. Walter, Renato M. Castelao, Elias J. Hunter, Robert J. Chant

Physics

As brackish turbid waters exit San Francisco Bay, one of the largest estuaries in the U.S. West Coast, they form the San Francisco Bay Plume (SFBP), which spreads offshore and influences the Gulf of the Farallones (GoF), an ecologically significant region in the California Current System that is also home to three National Marine Sanctuaries. This paper provides the first observationally based investigation of the spatio-temporal variability of the SFBP, using a plume tracking algorithm applied to more than two decades (2002-2023) of ocean color data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor onboard satellites Aqua and Terra. The …

Genetic Algorithm Optimization To Maximize Sensitivity Of Triboelectric Mems Accelerometers, Yu Tian, Benyamin Davaji, Shahrzad Towfighian Aug 2025

Genetic Algorithm Optimization To Maximize Sensitivity Of Triboelectric Mems Accelerometers, Yu Tian, Benyamin Davaji, Shahrzad Towfighian

Mechanical Engineering Faculty Scholarship

A genetic algorithm is used to optimize the sensitivity of a triboelectric MEMS accelerometer fabricated using CMOS-compatible processes. The optimization focuses on the structural parameters of an awl-shaped serpentine microspring (ASSM) connected to the proof mass. Constraints are defined by microfabrication standards and the available chip area. Three different constraint problems are considered, and the algo- rithm yields designs with maximized sensitivity in each case. Simulations under various sinusoidal vibration scenarios show that the optimized designs significantly outperform the previous version, achieving a 2.72× improvement at 1000 Hz and up to 20× at 500 Hz.

Experimental Investigation Of Strongly Coupled Finite Clusters In Two-Dimensional Dusty (Complex) Plasma, Ravi Kumar Aug 2025

Experimental Investigation Of Strongly Coupled Finite Clusters In Two-Dimensional Dusty (Complex) Plasma, Ravi Kumar

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

Dusty plasma, also known as Complex plasma, are ionized gases containing nanometers – to – micrometers sized particles (often referred as dust). The dust particles instantaneously get negatively charged due to high-mobile electrons present in the background plasma. These charged dust particles confined in a planar (two-dimensional) geometry interact through long-range forces (screened-Coulomb) exhibiting strongly coupled behavior, analogous to those in condensed matter and real 2D materials. This makes complex plasmas an ideal experimental platform to investigate the fundamental classical dynamics of strongly coupled many-body systems, such as phase transitions, configurational and thermodynamic properties. In condensed matter the direct observation …

Statistical Analysis Of Biomedical Data With Measurements Subject To Below The Limit Of Detection, Clifford James Crafford Aug 2025

Statistical Analysis Of Biomedical Data With Measurements Subject To Below The Limit Of Detection, Clifford James Crafford

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

Epidemiology has become increasingly concerned with measurements subject to detection limits, by which, values below this limit become left-censored. Traditional methods for handling such approaches have been found to be effective, provided necessary assumptions and conditions are met for the methods to work appropriately. However, when such conditions fail to be met or assumptions are incorrect, the effect this has on the method’s performance becomes serious. One such method is multiple imputation, which relies on assuming the distribution of the measurements when imputing quantities below the level of detection. As the reliance on the assumption can prove very strong in …

Developing Site-Specific Water Response Functions Using Historical Soil Moisture Data, Gifty Lad Ayela Aug 2025

Developing Site-Specific Water Response Functions Using Historical Soil Moisture Data, Gifty Lad Ayela

Theses and Dissertations

Variable rate irrigation (VRI) systems offer a promising solution by optimizing water application based on site-specific needs in different areas within a crop field. While accurate crop water production functions (CWPFs) are essential for VRI systems, developing CWPFs has been hindered by challenges in data collection and the complexities of modeling water’s impact on yields. This study attempts to develop site-specific CWPFs using farmers’ historical soil moisture data, collected using soil water tension (SWT) as a proxy, and yield maps. The spatial variability of the crop-water response functions was modeled using Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and the results from this …

Theses and Dissertations

Wire Arc Directed Energy Deposition (WA-DED) is a promising additive manufacturing method for producing large metallic components with high deposition rates and low costs. However, its rapid heat input can lead to residual stress, microstructural changes, and dimensional inaccuracies. Accurate thermal modeling is essential to mitigate these effects. This study presents a thermal calibration of a finite element model (FEM) for ER120S-G using thermocouples and infrared (IR) imaging. Thermal data were gathered from three experiments to complete the calibration of the FEM . Calibration focused on tuning the Goldak heat source parameters, power efficiency, and heat transfer coefficients to minimize …

Autonomous Generation Of Ids Rules From Threat Intelligence, Azim Bazarov Aug 2025

Autonomous Generation Of Ids Rules From Threat Intelligence, Azim Bazarov

Theses and Dissertations

Signature-based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) detect malicious activities by matching network or host activity against predefined rules. These rules are derived from Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), which includes attack signatures and behavioral patterns obtained through automated tools and manual threat analysis, such as sandboxing. The CTI is then transformed into actionable rules for the IDS engine, enabling real-time detection and prevention of threats. The constant evolution of cyber threats necessitates frequent rule updates, which delay deployment time and weaken overall security readiness. Recent advancements in autonomous agentic systems powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) offer the potential for automatic IDS …
