International Education And Spiritual Emptiness A Reflection From Europe, Nitya N. Timsina
International Education And Spiritual Emptiness A Reflection From Europe, Nitya N. Timsina
Journal of Comparative & International Higher Education
This essay is a revolt against a biased understanding called “internationalization” in education which grounds all historical, geographical, philosophical, ecological, and cultural distinctions in the world into a Platonic absolute. The key to this problem, this essay argues, lies in the drive to ontological, conceptual, or theoretical understanding in our approach to knowledge with its primacy in the Western thought. This essay calls into question this absolute sphere of influence, power and mastery enjoyed by the Western sciences, and a sense of space and authority it enjoys to make others impossible in the world. It does so by bringing different …

High-fidelity DNA polymerases employ complex mechanisms to catalyze template-dependent DNA synthesis while quickly discarding mismatches. Atomic-level structural details about short-lived states during nucleotide discrimination are necessary to gain insight into the kinetic checkpoints that contribute to fidelity. We performed microsecond molecular dynamics simulations of DNA polymerase I, large fragment, from Bacillus stearothermophilus (Bacillus fragment, or BF) in complex with a template guanine and a mismatched thymidine triphosphate to observe the early events in the process of selection against a mismatch. Although the nucleobases formed a wobble base pair early, the mismatched pair was blocked from fully entering the active site …

Artificial intelligence (AI)-based prostate cancer detection through whole slide images (WSIs) offers promising potential to address the global pathologist shortage while improving clinical consistency. Digital slides and improving image analysis methods encourage the creation of tools to aid in WSI classification. Despite promising advances, these tools are still limited by available training data. Current publicly available datasets, such as Kaggle's PANDA Challenge, while large in scale, rely on slide-level labels that may introduce noise and limit model reliability. Others contain detailed annotations, but are smaller in size due to manual processing efforts. In this work, we introduce PANDA-PLUS, a 546-image …

Algorithm For Stabilizing The Reference Trajectory Of Self-Tuning Systems With A Reference Model, Isamidin Hakimovich Sidikov, Feruzakhon Botirxon Qizi Sodiqova
Technical science and innovation
The paper addresses the problem of stabilizing self-tuning systems using adaptive control methods based on a reference process model. As the optimality criterion, the functional of maximum speed of response is selected. The algorithm for synthesizing the self-tuning system is based on a relay-linear control law, which possesses the property of invariance to small disturbances. The issue of ensuring the practical stability of the system under adaptive and multiplicative disturbances is examined. An algorithm for the synthesis of a reference trajectory stabilization system has been developed on the basis of a quasi-optimal passive self-tuning system (STS) with a reference model, …

Development Of Technical Solutions To Prevent The Formation Of Sludge Regime At The Bottom Of A Well, Rustam Umarkhanovich Juraev, Jonibek Tursunov
Technical science and innovation
The trouble-free process of drilling wells largely depends on the effective cleaning of the borehole. The formation of a slurry regime at the bottom of the well leads to the process of repeated crushing of drilling fines, which in turn leads to a decrease in the mechanical drilling speed, to an increase in the energy consumption of the rock-crushing tool for repeated crushing, and also increases the risk of oil seals. In addition, the formation of a slurry regime at the bottom of the well increases the intensity of abrasive wear of the drilling rig. This article provides a theoretical …

Detection And Correction Of Object Orientation On Production Lines Using Photodetector-Based Systems, Utkirjon Ubaydullayev, Elmira Raxmanova
Technical science and innovation
This article addresses the issue of errors occurring in high-speed production lines, particularly those caused by misalignment or incorrect positioning of manufactured objects. Although production lines have significantly enhanced industrial efficiency worldwide, they are not immune to mistakes, especially under rapid operation conditions. To mitigate these errors without human intervention, the proposed solution integrates photodetector sensor matrices with robotic manipulators. The system uses high-resolution photodetector arrays, such as the Hamamatsu S13774 CMOS Linear Image Sensor, to capture shadows of objects on the production line, converting these into numerical data. This data is then processed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and …

The Advanced Particle-astrophysics Telescope (APT) is a mission concept for a space-based gamma-ray telescope whose capabilities include prompt localization of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) to support multi-wavelength and multi-messenger astrophysics. ADAPT — APT's balloon-borne prototype — can localize GRBs in well under a second using on-board computing hardware. ADAPT will partner with ground-based, fast-slewing optical telescopes, rapidly providing alerts that enable the partner to observe a short-duration burst within a few seconds of detection. In this work, we investigate the utility of having ADAPT issue progressively more accurate location estimates for a GRB as detected Compton events from the burst accumulate …

FPGAs are widely deployed on high-energy astrophysics telescopes to read out sensor data from front-end electronics. To support continuous data streams or high trigger rates, FPGA logic may be employed to process raw sensor readout values, reducing the volume of data transmitted, processed, and stored by downstream CPU-based computational platforms. Across instruments, these FPGA-based processing pipelines often have similar semantics and share common stages. However, diverse telescope designs require unique implementations of the constituent algorithms, and the logic is often rewritten from scratch for a new instrument. Writing, simulating, and debugging firmware is difficult and time consuming. However, High-Level Synthesis …

The Analysis Of Non-Newtonian Blood Flow Through An Atherosclerotic Artery In The Presence Of Body Acceleration, Radiation Effect And Magnetic Field, Johnson N. Katabwa
Tanzania Journal of Science
The unsteady analysis of two-dimensional laminar flow of the non-Newtonian blood through an atherosclerotic artery in the presence of body acceleration, radiation effect and magnetic field has been studied. The blood flow has been assumed to satisfy the Herschel-Bulkley fluid model characteristics. The two- dimensional model equations have been developed from the physical laws of continuity, momentum and energy conservation. These equations are transformed to non-dimensional form and solved numerically using explicit finite difference method under suitable radial coordinate transformation. The study findings show that, the presence of body acceleration increases both velocity and temperature profiles of the blood in …

Adapting media properties, in particular fantasy, science fiction, and horror books, has been a staple of the development of tabletop role-playing games since their inception. Different properties, ranging from Lord of the Rings to Call of Cthulhu and everything in between has been undergoing this process. Developing an indie game based on indie and self-published books can be used as a promoting tool on overlapping audiences, which is the case for the selected book series for this design exercise. This paper has the aim of sharing these developing experiences during the early stages of creating a quick start guide supplement …
