Var Analysis: Association Between Non-Performing Loan, Housing Price, Economic Indicators, And Mortgage, Yulifar Amin Gultom, Masruri Muchtar, Pardomuan Robinson Sihombing

Jurnal Akuntansi dan Keuangan Indonesia

Background: The economic crisis from 2008 to 2009 was due to the collapse of the housing price bubble, which increased the default rate or non-performing loans of mortgages. Much research on non-performing loans compared to property price and economic indicators has been done in other countries, but not in Indonesia. This research is modified to suit the housing market in Indonesia, aiming to investigate causality relationships between non-performing loans, residential property price index, gross domestic product, mortgages, and credit interest rates. It also analyzes the impulse response function and variance decomposition of each variable, focusing on non-performing loans to show …

Comprehensive Evaluation Of Robotic Storage Tank Blasting And Coating Technology Capability, Armi Faizal Awang, Stephanie Goh Siaw Tien, M Aswadi Ton Alias, M Zaini M Zakaria

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

The maintenance of storage tanks involves complex and labour-intensive processes, particularly in blasting and coating operations. Conventional methods often require extensive scaffolding, manual labour, and exposure to hazardous environments, leading to increased safety risks and higher operational costs. Moreover, conventional approaches are typically slower, which prolongs downtime and negatively impacts overall productivity. Robotic technology may offer a solution to the above issues. Robotic tank blasting and coating technology refers to the use of automated robotic systems to perform surface preparation and coating applications, typically complemented with manual methods. This paper explores the effectiveness of robotic technologies with the primary objective …

A Study On The Use Of Nichrome Wire To Ease The Flow Of Heavy Crude Oil In Pipelines, Wafaa Rashid Al-Mahrooqi, Girma T. Chala

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

Production of waxy crude oil poses significant challenges due to high wax contents, which negatively affects the production rate. Several techniques have been adopted to ensure the flow of heavy crude oil during production. However, many of the methods appear costly and pose challenges during installation. Therefore, this study aims to investigate using nichrome wire for heavy crude oil production. An experimental setup was developed to power the nichrome wire placed inside the production casing. It was observed that the temperature increased with the decrease in the diameter of the nichrome wire. Heavy crude oil’s maximum temperature was 72.3°C for …

Leveraging Lime For Trustworthy Apple Quality Assessment, İsmail Kırbaş, Ahmet Çifci

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

This study explores the integration of machine learning (ML) models and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) techniques to enhance the accuracy and transparency of apple quality assessment. Leveraging the Apple Quality dataset from Kaggle, we evaluated the performance of random forest (RF), logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) across accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Among these models, RF demonstrated superior performance, achieving an accuracy of 87.6%, underscoring its robustness in managing complex feature interactions. A novel contribution of this study lies in employing the local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME) method to elucidate model predictions, …

Kinetic Study Of Bentonite-Based Desulphurisation For Cleaner Kerosene, Haider J. Esmaeel, Safaa M.R. Ahmed

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

This study introduces a novel, non-extractive Oxidative Desulphurisation (ODS) method for kerosene using a three-phase Oscillatory Baffled Reactor (OBR). The process utilises commercial bentonite clay (aluminium silicate hydrate) loaded with 15 wt% vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅) as a cost-effective catalyst. Catalyst characterisation showed surface areas of 56 m²/g for bentonite and 50.13 m²/g for the V₂O₅/bentonite composite. Structural and thermal properties were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The ODS process was tested under various conditions, including temperatures (40–80°C), residence times (15-120 min), oscillation intensities (63.79–382.8 Reo), and sulphur concentrations (84.4–578 ppm). The optimal result, 81.73% sulphur removal, was achieved at 50°C, …

Idling Vehicles: Practices And Perceptions Among Malaysian Drivers, Paul Ting Hock King, Shaharin Anwar Sulaiman

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

Although modern cars may not require long warming up, the practice of long engine idling has long been accepted by drivers as vital for various reasons, usually by old traditions. The practice, which can shorten the life of engines, in addition to wasting fuel and causing harm to the environment, is commonly found in Malaysia. However, no statistics are available on this detrimental practice, rendering it challenging to determine the essential corrective measures for society. This study aimed to examine the habits of Malaysian drivers concerning car warming-up and idling practices, with the goal of identifying potential strategies to promote …

Physical And Mechanical Properties Of Powder Injection Moulded 316l Stainless Steel Titanium-Copper Alloy, Lucas Lim Sheng Onn, Faiz Ahmad, Saad Ali

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

316L-Ti-Cu alloy was developed with two variations of copper at 1 vol% and 3 vol% through powder injection moulding to investigate the influence of copper on the alloy. This alloy has not been researched before and is expected to serve as an alternative for implants that possess beneficial antibacterial effects from copper, which can mitigate infection-related issues that occur during orthopaedic surgery. Two sintering environments will be conducted which are under vacuum and under argon-5% hydrogen, to ascertain the optimal properties of the alloy. The main reason behind the different sintering atmospheres is to prevent the oxidation of copper, which …

Development And Experimental Validation Of A Non-Invasive Blood Group Detection System, Nurath K. Nurudini Jun 2025

Development And Experimental Validation Of A Non-Invasive Blood Group Detection System, Nurath K. Nurudini

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

An individual's blood group consists of red blood cell antigens whose composition is determined by protein presence, antigen structure, and gene series. Persons aged above six months have significant anti-A and/or anti-B in their serum. During transplantation and transfusion, ABO blood group identification is the most essential factor. The conventional method involves drawing blood samples from patients, and the blood group is determined based on the antigen-antibody reaction. This method consists of adding chemical reagents. However, this requires time of operation, and throughput analysis is high, and the process is also challenging to interpret. Accurate and rapid identification of blood …
