Teaching Writing With Genai: Teacher Insights On How To Adapt Learning And Assessment Practices, Thanh Thao Le, Trut Thuy Pham, Minh Tuan Duong, Thi Diem Lan Le

The Qualitative Report

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) creates two connected challenges for English as a foreign language (EFL) writing assessment: teachers need credible evidence of learner authorship and learning, while teachers and learners need practical guidance for responsible use. We investigated how nine Vietnamese tertiary EFL teachers redesigned writing tasks and assessment and whether their pedagogical reasoning varied across career stages. We generated data through semi-structured interviews at two tertiary institutions and analyzed the accounts using reflexive thematic analysis. The analysis produced four themes: (1) movement from detection to authenticity-by-design, (2) Defensive, Adaptive, and Generative response patterns, (3) integrity, equity, and feasibility as …

Behind The Screen And Behind The Researcher: Reflexivity In Digital Mental Health Inquiry, Lesedi Kgatla Oct 2026

Behind The Screen And Behind The Researcher: Reflexivity In Digital Mental Health Inquiry, Lesedi Kgatla

The Qualitative Report

The purpose of this paper is to reflexively examine how researcher positionality, theoretical commitments, methodological choices, and ethical decision-making shaped the interpretation of a previously conducted qualitative study on digital mental health activism. Drawing on my earlier digital ethnographic study of two South African mental health activists who used social media to disclose their experiences of depression, this paper presents a reflexive qualitative re-examination of the research process. The original study identified three themes: visibility through vulnerability, authenticity as activism, and community, connection, and psychoeducation. Rather than revisiting these as empirical findings, this paper examines how they were co-constructed through …

Strengths, Struggles, And Hope: Iranian University Faculty Experiences Through The Lens Of Appreciative Inquiry, Mohamad Reza Farangi, Mostafa Bahraman, Roya Movahed

The Qualitative Report

Although Appreciative Inquiry has been widely applied to organizational and educational development, little is known about how it can illuminate the experiences of university faculty in resource-constrained, non-Western higher education contexts. This qualitative study explored how Iranian university faculty members experience their professional lives through the lens of Appreciative Inquiry, with particular attention to the factors that sustain motivation, resilience, and professional purpose. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight assistant and associate professors from diverse academic disciplines, and the data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. The analysis generated eight interrelated themes: ethical academic identity, pride in scholarly …

JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA

Fisherwomen constitute an essential yet frequently overlooked workforce in small-scale fisheries, particularly in coastal communities where intercultural dynamics shape everyday working relationships among fisherwomen, fishermen, traders, and buyers. Along the coast of Padang City, these interactions take place within the distinctive socio-cultural context of Minangkabau society, where communication involves ongoing negotiations of meaning across differing cultural expectations, kinship values, and gender roles embedded in the coastal work environment. Although previous studies have examined fisherwomen’s economic participation and gender inequality, limited attention has been paid to communication as an intercultural and lived process through which fisherwomen construct identity, solidarity, and resilience …

Safer Together: One Purpose, One Future, Tara Haines Oct 2026

Safer Together: One Purpose, One Future, Tara Haines

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

This art quilt is based on the theme that working together creates a safer future for our patients. The patient is at the center and is surrounded by the care team to help them navigate towards health and better outcomes. Our student nurse is on the left with angel wings, supported by their professor, the patient, the care team, and their nurse, all guided by Florence Nightingale's lamp over the often uneven path towards a safer future

I am an academic advisor for nursing students who also happens to be a balloon artist. I created all of these nurse balloon animals during Nurses' Week to represent “better together.” These balloons were then given to staff members on campus to celebrate Nurse’s Week!

Family Tree, Margaret J. Demars Oct 2026

Family Tree, Margaret J. Demars

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

I currently work as an intensive care unit nurse and was asked to paint a mural in our break room. I decided to paint a “family tree” symbolizing unity among the departments. I wanted to create something that promoted peace and serenity. Once the tree was completed, the employees were encouraged to print photos of themselves, their pets, or their families to pin to the tree. This project brought everyone together and was a really fun and engaging activity among the nurses and staff. Now, we can take our breaks and admire something other than the same white walls we …

Wave Of Healing, Annemarie Dittmar Oct 2026

Wave Of Healing, Annemarie Dittmar

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

There is so much hope and healing in nursing. As nurses, we are meant to bring hope and healing to others. To me, the sunrise is symbolic of hope, hope that healing will happen and that there are always things to hope for. The wave of water is symbolic of healing; it is a blue green wave of healing that washes over and provides calming energy and mental clarity. Sunlight and ocean waves bring hope and healing to my own soul. I used a Japanese art form called Kinusaiga, which is a type of painting with fabric. I used …

Trust As Public Health Infrastructure: Advancing Health Care Safety Through Risk Communication And Community Engagement, Karanvir Bhinder, Sahibpreet Bhinder Oct 2026

Trust As Public Health Infrastructure: Advancing Health Care Safety Through Risk Communication And Community Engagement, Karanvir Bhinder, Sahibpreet Bhinder

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

Background

Preparedness frameworks traditionally emphasize surveillance, laboratory capacity, clinical care and logistics. However, recent public health emergencies have demonstrated that even technically sound interventions may fail when trust is weak, communication is fragmented or misinformation undermines public confidence. Risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) is therefore increasingly recognized as an important component of effective outbreak response.

Perspective

Evidence from COVID-19, Ebola and other public health emergencies demonstrates that trust, communication and community engagement influence adherence to public health guidance, vaccine acceptance, healthcare utilization and the implementation of evidence-based interventions. Despite this, RCCE is frequently operationalized as a support function rather …

Advanced Practice Provider-Physician Collaboration And Medical Staff Governance: A Framework For Patient Safety, Nicholas Testa, Kaysha Hervey, Cynthia Borum

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

The growth of advanced practice providers (APPs) is occurring in parallel with persistent and projected physician shortages. One important solution and increasingly visible response to these workforce challenges is the expanding role of APPs. Strong physician-APP partnerships can help distribute workload, improve access, and support sustainable practice with the delivery of safe, quality patient care. The future of clinical care will depend on effective APP-physician collaboration grounded in sound credentialing, clearly defined supervision and practice expectations, and robust medical staff monitoring programs. We describe the governance and oversight processes in a large health care system to assess and support APP …
