More Blockchain More Privacy Problems: Privacy Rights & The Mosaic Theory In The Age Of Blockchain Technology, Carson Lloyd

Richmond Journal of Law & Technology

Can the law tackle the legal challenges posed by disruptive technologies, or is the law constantly struggling to keep up with rapid innovation, forcing it into a reactive position? This question lies at the heart of the complex relationship between law and technology. As emerging technologies advance at an unprecedented rate, legal systems often struggle to address the challenges they pose. There is no better example of this in practice than the emergence of blockchain technology, one of the most disruptive innovations of the 21st Century. Blockchain technology refers to a decentralized and encrypted digital ledger enabling secure real-time transactions …

The Discord Dilemma: Section 230'S Free Pass For Internet Providers Sanctioning Online Extremism, Claira L. Cooper

Richmond Journal of Law & Technology

This Article examines the relationship between the blanket immunity for internet providers guaranteed by Section 230 of the Communication Decency Act and the rise of online extremism on gaming adjacent platforms. This Article analyzes multiple recent events incited by extremists on the gaming platform, Discord, and the real-life consequences that arise when extremism is allowed run rampant on platforms. This Article argues that Section 230, in its current form, enables platforms to turn a blind eye to illegal conduct on their website by avoiding moderation, thus making it clear that Section 230 is in dire need of an update to …

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of intensive care unit (ICU) admission and respiratory failure among infants (children aged < year) in the United States. In August 2023, CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended nirsevimab, a long-acting monoclonal antibody, to protect against RSV-associated lower respiratory tract infection among all infants aged < 8 months born during or entering their first RSV season. Following licensure, nirsevimab effectiveness has been demonstrated against RSV-associated infant hospitalization, but evidence regarding effectiveness against RSV-associated critical illness is limited. In a 27-hospital case-control investigation, nirsevimab effectiveness against both RSV-associated infant ICU admission and acute respiratory failure (illness requiring continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, or invasive mechanical ventilation) after hospital admission was evaluated during December 1, 2024-April 15, 2025. Among 457 case-patients who received a positive RSV test result and 302 control patients who received a negative RSV test result admitted to an ICU with respiratory symptoms, 14% and 45%, respectively, had received nirsevimab ≥ 7 days before symptom onset. Nirsevimab was 80% effective (95% CI = 70%-86%) against RSV-associated ICU admission and 83% effective (95% CI = 74%-90%) against acute respiratory failure when received a median of 52 days (IQR = 32-89 days) and 50 days (IQR = 32-86 days) before onset for each respective endpoint. These estimates support the recommendation for use of nirsevimab as a prevention strategy to protect infants against severe outcomes from RSV infection.

Exploring The Impacts Of Moral Distress On Critical Care Nurses Using Biometric Sensors, Preston H. Miller, Jennifer Bail, Shikha Modi, Katherine Morrison, Emil Jovanov, Elizabeth Epstein

Biennial Convention (CONV)

Moral distress occurs when nurses are constrained from acting ethically or are forced into ethically inappropriate actions, leading to feelings of complicity and wrongdoing. This phenomenon is common among nurses, especially when institutional constraints prevent them from doing what they believe is right. Moral distress can cause negative physical, psychological, and emotional consequences, potentially leading to burnout, compassion fatigue, or even leaving the profession if unaddressed. Most evidence of these effects comes from subjective reports or workforce studies linking moral distress to nursing turnover; However, no studies to date have objectively measured the biometric effects of moral distress among nurses. …

Readers Are Authors, Especially In The Ai Age, Jessica Silbey

Faculty Scholarship

In this essay, Abraham Drassinower updates the argument in his 2015 book What’s Wrong With Copying (Harvard University Press) with an elaboration of the nature of copyright’s public domain: it is a domain of unauthorized yet lawful copying. As in his book, Drassinower explains that the public domain is not properly understood as a problem of balancing between copyright’s public benefits and private rewards. Instead, he understands the public domain as part of authorship and thus inseparable from copyright’s construction.

Summary This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was a staff education program on nurse burnout, which remains a pressing issue in healthcare. Burnout is marked by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a diminished sense of personal achievement. Addressing burnout within the nursing profession is important because burnout leads to job dissatisfaction, absenteeism, and turnover. The project was guided by two practice-focused questions: Will there be a change in knowledge from pre- to posttest after participating in an educational program on nurse burnout? Will the objectives of the educational program be met relative to the curriculum presented? Therefore, the purpose of …

Enhancing Antitrafficking Initiatives Through An Interagency Collaboration Framework, Robert Louis Baxter

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The challenges individual agencies face in addressing the complex issue of human trafficking and how interagency collaboration can strengthen survivor-centered support are largely unknown. Organizations often lack formal alliances that combine expertise and resources to deliver more comprehensive care. The absence of such partnerships represents a missed opportunity to provide the essential services necessary for survivors’ recovery, empowerment, and social reintegration. The purpose of the study was to use interagency collaboration to address the question: How can education, law enforcement, public health, and community-based organizations assess the barriers and benefits of interagency collaboration to create a more seamless support network …

While this session focuses on academic …

Transnational Networks Of Film Repetitions In East Asia : Proliferation And Limitations, Roman Kusaiko Nov 2025

Transnational Networks Of Film Repetitions In East Asia : Proliferation And Limitations, Roman Kusaiko

Lingnan Theses (MPhil & PhD)

A growing number of contemporary film critics, influencers, and audiences criticize film remaking, a tested and successful Hollywood practice. The main complaints are a lack of originality, overreliance on repeated titles, and an openly commercial nature. Despite criticism, film remakes have existed for decades and are a vivid and resilient form of recycling under new cultural and geopolitical circumstances. Contemporary film remaking reflects the impacts of globalization, transnationalization, and the rapid development of new media and digitalization.

Nevertheless, there is a tendency to theorize on film remaking, often relying on the dichotomy of the source and a remake or, less …
