Measurements Of Water-Film Thickness On Cave Walls And Speleothems, Alexandre Honiat, Salaheddine Skali-Lami, François Bourges, Bruno Lartiges
International Journal of Speleology
The water-film that coats cave walls and speleothems is a key player for the regulation of cave microclimate and the control of speleothem growth. In this paper, we demonstrate the capability of a confocal optical sensor to quantitatively measure on-site the rapid variations of water-film thickness when dripping, active condensation, or dryness occur on walls of various caves. Results obtained from a sample of four prehistoric caves and one stalagmite cave from Southwest France, indicate that the measurable thickness of water-films is generally in the 25-70 µm range for cave walls and reaches 200-300 µm on the horizontal plane of …

Conversational Implicature In The Collection Hadith Qalb (“Heart’S Talk”) By Abdullah Al-Faisal “A Pragmatic Study”, Nawal Saeed Al-Zahrani
Conversational Implicature In The Collection Hadith Qalb (“Heart’S Talk”) By Abdullah Al-Faisal “A Pragmatic Study”, Nawal Saeed Al-Zahrani
UB Journal for Humanities
This research falls within the general framework of rhetorical studies, specifically within the specialized aspect of studying and applying a phenomenon from discourse phenomena, namely the phenomenon of conversational implicature. This is achieved by uncovering its presence in the poetry of the Saudi poet Abdullah Al-Faisal in his collection Hadith Qalb (“Heart’s Talk”).It is assumed that conversational implicature is one of the discourse phenomena that seek to reveal the implicit dimensions embedded within discourse, based on the premise that every utterance has circumstantial and contextual conditions that determine its meaning and content. A speaker may sometimes not state something explicitly, …
The Legal Effects Of Judicial Judgments Under Saudi Law –A Comparative Study–, Fahad Ali Abdullah Alhassun
The Legal Effects Of Judicial Judgments Under Saudi Law –A Comparative Study–, Fahad Ali Abdullah Alhassun
UB Journal for Humanities
This study examines the legal effects of judicial judgments under Saudi Law, focusing on the legal consequences that influence the parties’ legal positions and the jurisdiction of courts. The importance of this topic lies in the fact that judicial judgments constitute the primary instrument through which the judiciary performs its essential role of resolving disputes, ensuring justice, and stabilizing legal transactions. Studying the effects of judgments is therefore a natural extension of their fundamental role, particularly regarding the principles of jurisdiction exhaustion and res judicata, which serve as the foundation for preventing contradictory judgments and ensuring their stability. The research …

Artificial Intelligence And The Translation Of Culture-Specific Terms On Arabic Monolingual Signs At Aseer Tourist Sites, Saudi Arabia, Ali Mohammad A. Alghamdi, Bakr Bagash Mansour Ahmed Al-Sofi
UB Journal for Humanities
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly used in various fields, including the translation of signs within linguistic landscapes. This field-based study investigates the performance of AI tools, namely, Google Gemini and DeepSeek, in translating culture-specific terms (CSTs). To this end, Arabic monolingual signs at tourist sites in Aseer region in Saudi Arabia were documented and a comparative content analysis approach was employed to evaluate the accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and contextual relevance of the AI-generated translations. These translations were then compared to human translations using the same criteria designed for independent human evaluation. The findings indicated that Gemini consistently outperformed DeepSeek …
Filling In The Gaps: How The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Can Enhance Protections For H-1b Visa Holders, Mahi Patel
Northwestern Journal of Law & Social Policy
H-1B Specialty Occupations Visas allow numerous foreign nationals to obtain a pathway for entry into the United States through their hard-earned efforts and specialized skills. After meeting stringent requirements and completing complex processes, holders of H-1B visas may begin working in America. Unfortunately, when these individuals come to the land of opportunity, they encounter a harsh reality of employment: the incessant discriminatory abuse of H-1B visa holders by their employers. H-1B employees endure severe working conditions, long hours, unattainable deadlines, wage disparities, and racial biases as they navigate an unknown nation. Employers tend to exploit H-1B workers because these visa …

Disclosures, Disclaimers, And Disinformation Advertising, Areeb Asif
Northwestern Journal of Law & Social Policy
Every regular internet user in the United States has been exposed to fake news at some point. Most of them, if not all, would agree that this problem needs a solution. Nevertheless, even as fake news has taken on unforeseen prominence in recent years, very little concrete action has been taken to curb its impact on American society. Some scholars have chalked this up to the Supreme Court’s expansive conception of the First Amendment, which makes it incredibly challenging to regulate political speech. Others posit that the problem is Section 230, which allows platforms to profit from fake news without …
Personal Healthcare Networks: Integrative Review Of Patient-Centered Social Network Analysis Studies, Tyler Gaedecke, Sarah Harkins, Walter Bockting, Kasey Jackman
Personal Healthcare Networks: Integrative Review Of Patient-Centered Social Network Analysis Studies, Tyler Gaedecke, Sarah Harkins, Walter Bockting, Kasey Jackman
Biennial Convention (CONV)
Background: Social network analysis is an interdisciplinary social science methodology used to investigate relationships between individuals, communities, and systems. In health research, it has often been used to research interpersonal dynamics on healthcare teams. However, it is infrequently applied to the patient perspective of those teams. One kind of social network analysis, the “personal” network, collects data based on one’s own perception of their connections and relationships. This methodology may be useful to gain the patient’s perspective on accessing healthcare services.
Purpose: To describe and evaluate empirical research using social network approaches to capture the patient perspective about healthcare teams’ …
Balancing Support And Challenge For Twice-Exceptional Learners Through Ai-Infused Lesson Design, Claire E. Hughes
Balancing Support And Challenge For Twice-Exceptional Learners Through Ai-Infused Lesson Design, Claire E. Hughes
Teaching Repository of AI-Infused Learning
This strategy prepares graduate teacher candidates to design inclusive lessons for twice-exceptional (2e) learners, or talented students with disabilities, by using AI to infuse both scaffolds for access and enrichments for challenge. Candidates critically evaluate outputs, revising to ensure accuracy, rigor, and alignment with Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The approach models how technology can expand instructional possibilities while reinforcing professional judgment needed to meet the needs of 2e learners.
