Efektivitas Dan Keberterimaan Madcom Noise Protection Sebagai Alat Pelindung Pendengaran Berbasis Perlindungan Ganda, Ahmad Athif Wahyu Ramadhan, Yamtana Yamtana, Naris Dyah Prasetyawati, Sigid Sudaryanto
National Journal of Occupational Health and Safety
Industrial environments often generate high noise levels due to the continuous operation of machinery and production equipment. Persistent exposure to workplace noise exceeding the Threshold Limit Value (TLV) can lead to noise-induced hearing loss. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 430 million people worldwide require rehabilitation for hearing impairment, with 109.4 million of these cases occurring in Southeast and Central Asia. As a critical component of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management, noise control is often implemented using Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an earplug-earmuff combination, developed as Madcom Noise Protection, …

Low levels of physical activity is a global public health challenge, and children are not taking part in recommended amounts of physical activity. To date, the majority of school-based physical activity interventions have not yielded increases in pupils’ physical activity levels, and it is suggested that this is partly due to traditional intervention approaches ignoring the role of individual school context. By context we mean the school setting, ethos, staff, and sociodemographic factors. Public health interventions must consider the context in which they are intervening to be sustainable and to capture complexity. Yet in this field, ethnographic approaches have been …

Transnational Mass Tort Litigation: A Proposal For An International Court Of Civil Justice, Maya Steinitz
Faculty Scholarship
This chapter argues for the creation of an International Court of Civil Justice for transnational mass tort cases. It considers the challenges of adjudicating cross-border mass torts along with the incentives and feasibility of a new international court. Drawing upon case studies including the Bhopal disaster, litigation surrounding the devastation of the Ecuadorian rainforest, and the attempts to sue over human rights abuses in Nigeria, the chapter demonstrates that the world's legal systems were not designed to solve these kinds of complex cases, and the absence of mechanisms to ensure coordination means that victims try, but fail, to find justice …
Braingenebot: A Gpt-Engineered, User-Driven Genetic Data Exploration With Polygenic Risk Scores Ranking In Alzheimer’S Disease
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Background
Polygenic risk scores (PGSs) aggregate the effects of multiple genetic variants to attribute to disease susceptibility, and have been applied to numerous complex diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, as omics and phenotypic data grow exponentially, reconciling findings across studies with differing ancestral backgrounds, study designs, and statistical methodologies remains a pressing issue. Efficiently extracting biologically relevant insights from this expanding body of data is equally challenging, especially for diseases driven by complex interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.
Method
To address these challenges, we introduce BrainGeneBot, an AI‐driven chatbot framework that automates genetic data analysis and bridges …

This article aims to formulate the ethics of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in legal education. Legal education held by the Faculty of Law is a center for the development of excellence in legal science in order to generate competent graduates. The ability to provide a legal opinion on a legal issue is a competency that every law graduate must have. In this era, law students can easily command AI to construct legal opinion without going through the legal research process. The implication for Faculty of Law is that they fail to prepare law graduates who are able to produce legal …

Background
Many novel Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers have been studied in non-Hispanic White populations, despite Hispanic/Latino adults being 1.5 times more likely to develop AD and receiving a later diagnosis. Equitable, accessible assessments are needed to identify individuals at risk earlier. While cognitive screening monitors early AD signs, neuropsychological tests are often inequitable across ethnicity, race, and other social determinants of health. However, we have shown that performance-based motor assessments may be less susceptible to demographic factors than memory tests, and may be more equitable for screening older adults. Gait speed has been linked to elevated amyloid in non-Hispanic White …

2020-Current year OA Pubs
BACKGROUND: Talimogene laherparepvec (T-VEC) is an oncolytic herpes simplex virus therapy approved for treatment of unresectable and metastatic melanoma. However, real-world use often occurs in heavily pretreated patients, where evidence of effectiveness remains limited. This study evaluates treatment responses and clinical factors influencing T-VEC outcomes in patients with diverse treatment histories.
METHODS: We analyzed patients with metastatic melanoma treated with T-VEC between 2015 and 2024. Objective responses (OR), complete response (CR) and partial response were assessed using univariate and multivariate Cox regression models. Durability of responses, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier estimates.
RESULTS: Among …

Background: Better understanding factors leading to suicide and prevention opportunities is a global public health priority. This qualitative pilot study tested whether reviewing inquest recordings could generate insights during COVID-19 and inform public health prevention programmes across a predominantly rural and coastal area where there are significant health inequalities. Methods: Fifty-five inquest recordings reached a suicide conclusion between March 2020 and January 2021. Stratified sampling was used to obtain two samples from each month. Template analysis was employed to thematically analyse data from 30 inquests. Results: Risk factors during this period were social isolation, anxiety, difficulty in routine creation and …

Impact Of Physical Activity On Sleep In Adults Recovering From Substance Use Disorders: A Protocol For An N-Of-1 Observational Study, Sascha Thal, Cele Richardson, Joanne Mcveigh, Craig Thompson, Phoebe Wan, Bingyan Pang, Hugh Riddell, Stephen Bright, James Clarke, Bronwyn Myers
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Introduction Sleep impairments are prevalent among individuals recovering from substance use disorders (SUDs) and are associated with poorer treatment outcomes and increased relapse risk. Physical activity (PA) is known to enhance sleep in general populations, but its day-to-day effects on sleep during SUD recovery remain underexplored, especially across different recovery stages. Methods and Analysis In this observational n-of-1 study, we aim to examine within-person associations between daily PA and sleep quality in three groups of individuals at varying stages of substance use recovery (early treatment, continuing care and long-term recovery). A substudy will validate the agreement between two wearable sleepmonitoring …

Multi-Actor Roles In Basic Education Provision For Indonesian Migrant Workers’ Children In Sabah And Sarawak, Neneng Heryati, Chandra Wijaya, Lina Jannah
Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan
This study examines the governance of basic education access for Indonesian Migrant Workers’ children in Sabah and Sarawak by focusing on the roles of multi-actors involved in service provision. Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and document analysis, the study finds that the operation of Community Learning Centers is highly dependent on the interaction between the Malaysian government as the licensing authority, plantation companies as facility providers and funders, and the Indonesian government through Atdikbud, KJRI/KRI, and SIKK as facilitators of educational diplomacy and the roles of PMI communities. Non-governmental organizations such as Humana Child Aid Society also enhance …

Markets, Globalization & Development Review
Foreign portfolio investments have been at the center of research in the finance, economics, and international business domains since the early 1990s when developing economies started to relax their capital account and allowed the entry of foreign investments. Over the years, various macroeconomic (country-specific and global), firm-specific, and quality factors have been studied as determinants in relation to these flows, Still, there is no consensus regarding which factor influences more than the others. This paper uses bibliometric analysis to understand the existing literature to build a solid conceptual base in this research topic. For this study, bibliometric data of 731 …
