Mansoura Medical Journal

Background: Twenty to thirty percent of men experience premature ejaculation (PE). The bioactive amine serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) produces a diverse array of outcomes in the brain and other tissues. Researchers investigated serotonin in relation to many other activities and events, including sexual functions. This study set out to investigate whether or not there is a correlation between intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) with the C-1019G promoter polymorphism (rs6295) in 5-HT1A receptor gene in men who have lifelong PE.

Methods: The current study included 50 cases with PE and 50 apparently healthy subjects as a control group. Participants were assessed for …

Rail Sign By Doppler Ultrasound As A Predictor Of Outcome Of Placenta Accreta Spectrum, Ola Khaled Mosaad El Malahy, Mohammed Nezar El Shahat, Lotfy Sherif Sherif, Khaled Samir, Amany A Makroum, Alhussein Ahmed Mohamed Jan 2026

Rail Sign By Doppler Ultrasound As A Predictor Of Outcome Of Placenta Accreta Spectrum, Ola Khaled Mosaad El Malahy, Mohammed Nezar El Shahat, Lotfy Sherif Sherif, Khaled Samir, Amany A Makroum, Alhussein Ahmed Mohamed

Mansoura Medical Journal

Background: Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) involves abnormal placental invasion into uterine wall and is associated with life-threatening maternal complications. Doppler ultrasound is the primary diagnostic tool, though its ability to determine invasion depth and predict outcomes remains uncertain. Multidisciplinary management improves safety, and treatment often requires planned cesarean hysterectomy, or conservative management. The aim of this work was to correlate rail signs by Doppler US as a predictor of deep villous invasion and to detect whether rail signs can predict maternal and fetal outcomes.

Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted on 59 patients aged > 20 years old, with PAS …

Role Of Foxl2 Immunohistochemical Marker In Diagnosis Of Ovarian Sex Cord-Stromal Tumors, Correlation With Histopathologic Features And Inhibin Expression, Eman Magdi Hikal, Sylvia Albair Ashamallah, Nadia Abd El-Moniem Nada, Dina Abdallah Ibrahim

Mansoura Medical Journal

Background: Ovarian Sex Cord-Stromal Tumors (SCST) are a broad category of rare neoplasms that exhibit diagnostic challenges. Alpha-inhibin has been traditionally used as immunohistochemical marker (IHC) for SCST, but restrictions as lack of specificity and variability of cytoplasmic staining evolved.  Forkhead box L2 (FOXL2) is one of the earliest markers of ovarian differentiation and is essential for the normal development of granulosa cells and has been identified to be a sensitive and specific marker of Sex Cord-Stromal differentiation.

Aim: Assess FOXL2-IHC expression in different types of SCSTs and correlate its expression with histopathological features and Inhibin-IHC.

Methods: …

Patellar Morphology In Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty Patients With Unexplained Pain, Mohammed Ahmed Abdelkhalek Abdelrazek, Adham Elsharkawey Elgeidi, Yasser Youssef Abdelrahman Abed, Kamel Mohamed Ahmed Ahmed Youssef

Mansoura Medical Journal

Background: An effective surgical procedure for treating end-stage osteoarthritis of the knee (OA) is total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Pain is the main reason why many patients are still unhappy with their results following TKA. Patients who did TKA may experience anterior knee pain (AKP) with or without patellar resurfacing. Research has indicated that the morphology of the patella or trochlear geometry affects the stress on the patellofemoral joint.

Objective: To determine whether clinical scores and pain after TKA without patellar resurfacing were correlated with patellar shape. Methods: This retrospective case control study included 70 cases. We retrospectively assessed patients with …

Mansoura Medical Journal

In children, immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) remains a serious health concern, which is an autoimmune disorder (AID) characterized by an isolated decrease in platelet count, leading to an increased risk of bleeding.

The use of vitamin D supplementation represents a turning point in many autoimmune diseases, with the potential to deliver high cure rates with fewer side effects than previous therapies. In this review, we explore the incidence of ITP , immunopathogenesis, diagnosis and management in pediatric patients. We will discuss the mechanisms of action of vitamin D , focusing on its role in autoimmune diseases especially ITP

Journal of Educational and Psychological Studies

The revised Snijders-Oomen Nonverbal Intelligence Test (SON-R 6–40) provides a standardized measure of intelligence. The test’s author, Nan Snijders-Oomen (1943), conceptualized intelligence as the ability to learn and the extent to which children can benefit from school education. This test is widely used in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, but its application remains limited in Arab environments, particularly in Oman, where there is a scarcity of psychometric evaluations of nonverbal intelligence tests. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the revised Snijders-Oomen Nonverbal Intelligence Test (SON-R 6–40) among a sample of sixth and ninth-grade students in Muscat …

Supporting Latine Older Adults’ Nutrition And Physical Health Goals In Counseling, Zachary P. Mcniece, Jacqueline J. Bergman Jan 2026

Supporting Latine Older Adults’ Nutrition And Physical Health Goals In Counseling, Zachary P. Mcniece, Jacqueline J. Bergman

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

Latine older adults face disproportionate risk of chronic nutrition-related conditions and food insecurity, which can exacerbate or contribute to the development of mental health-related concerns. Cultural stigma toward mental illness can result in Latine clients, especially older adults, somatizing symptoms and focusing on physical health goals in counseling. Despite these intersecting needs, counselors often overlook clients’ physical health goals due to limited training and the assumption that medical providers alone should address them. This article advocates integrating basic, culturally responsive nutrition information into counseling practice to support client well-being while staying within the scope of practice. We offer practical recommendations …

Spectroscopic And Structural Characterization Of Unexpected Porphyrinoid Byproducts Resulting From The Reaction Of A Cyclopentadiene Trialdehyde With N-Alkyltripyrranes, Kimberly Le, Gregory M. Ferrence, Timothy D. Lash Jan 2026

Lash

Faculty Publications – Chemistry

Acid-catalyzed condensation of N-alkyltripyrranes with a cyclopentadiene trialdehyde, followed by oxidation with aqueous ferric chloride solutions, gave unusual tripyrrolic byproducts in addition to previously reported carbaporphyrins and oxycarbaporphyrins. These stable nonaromatic structures incorporate aldehyde substituents, macrocyclic ketones, two conjugated pyrrole units, and a pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrrole moiety. The NMR and UV-vis data were consistent with a nonaromatic system, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction confirmed that these structures are highly distorted. Structural characterization of a related aromatic carbaporphyrin triketone was also accomplished.
