The Gender Gap: Exploring Superintendents’ Perceptions And Experiences In Iowa, Jillian Dotson, Matt Townsley Sep 2026

The Gender Gap: Exploring Superintendents’ Perceptions And Experiences In Iowa, Jillian Dotson, Matt Townsley

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

Abstract

The gender gap in the superintendent role continues to plague the educational system across the nation. Female school teachers drastically outnumber female superintendents, which limits the number of women superintendents who are available to serve as mentors. Until women can access superintendent positions in an equitable manner, this gender imbalance will continue. The purpose of this study was to explore current Iowa women superintendents' perceptions and experiences with seeking and operating in the superintendency, and understand their perceptions on the strengths and weaknesses of the mentoring support available for new superintendents. The findings confirm that participants in this study …

Seeing The Line Move Up: Educator Perceptions Of Mastery Experiences As Drivers Of Student Engagement And Persistence In Rural Intervention Programs, Carter J. Baran Sep 2026

Seeing The Line Move Up: Educator Perceptions Of Mastery Experiences As Drivers Of Student Engagement And Persistence In Rural Intervention Programs, Carter J. Baran

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

This study examined how educators in a rural secondary school district describe the influence of mastery experiences on student engagement and persistence within academic intervention programs. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with 18 certified educators (six core content teachers, six elective teachers, and six administrators) and a subsequent focus group conducted in a single rural South Carolina school district, this qualitative analysis extends a larger dissertation study on teacher perceptions of dropout-prevention interventions. Using Bandura's (1986, 1997) social cognitive theory and Astin's (1984, 1999) theory of student involvement as a dual conceptual lens, findings indicate that educators consistently identified visible, incremental …

From Tasks To Transformation: How Coherently Sequenced Practicum Experiences Develop Collaborative Instructional Leaders, Daryl Ann Borel, Thomas Harvey Sep 2026

From Tasks To Transformation: How Coherently Sequenced Practicum Experiences Develop Collaborative Instructional Leaders, Daryl Ann Borel, Thomas Harvey

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

This qualitative study examines principal preparation candidates' perceptions of a practicum designed to develop collaborative instructional leadership through coherently sequenced field-based tasks. The practicum required candidates to lead campus teams through needs assessment, strategy development, and implementation monitoring focused on instructional challenges affecting at-risk and economically disadvantaged students. Grounded in Personalized Educational Leadership Theory (PELT), the study analyzed archival written reflections from 150 randomly selected candidates enrolled in a large online principal preparation program. Using a basic interpretive qualitative approach, the analysis identified four themes: candidates' perceived growth in data-informed instructional leadership, structured collaboration as a leadership practice, leadership identity …

Leadership In Context: Examining School District Demographic And Socioeconomic Factors To Predict Superintendent Salary, Samuel F. Fancera, Lorena Valer, Ashley Mungiello Sep 2026

Leadership In Context: Examining School District Demographic And Socioeconomic Factors To Predict Superintendent Salary, Samuel F. Fancera, Lorena Valer, Ashley Mungiello

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

This study examines how district‑level demographic and socioeconomic factors predict superintendent base salaries in New Jersey through the lens of context‑responsive leadership theory. Using secondary data from 529 school districts, the analysis investigates whether student racial and ethnic composition and district socioeconomic status relate to salary outcomes. Correlation and multiple regression results show that all student demographic variables along with district socioeconomic status, significantly predict superintendent salary, with the proportion of White students accounting for the largest share of explained variance. Findings reveal persistent inequities. Superintendents serving high‑poverty, diverse districts tend to earn lower salaries despite facing more complex leadership …

The Unified System Resampling Manifold: Bridging September 2026 Experimental Crises Via Substrate Phase Residue And Conformal Extension Loops, Christopher L. Eckes Sep 2026

The Unified System Resampling Manifold: Bridging September 2026 Experimental Crises Via Substrate Phase Residue And Conformal Extension Loops, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This paper formalizes Paper 155 to construct a rigorous cross-disciplinary bridge between five discrete breakthrough vectors observed in early September 2026: (1) the massive multi-agent AI swarm mapping of the Navier-Stokes smooth existence problem, (2) macroscopic quantum gravity atomic superposition measurements, (3) sub-Landauer limit magnetic memory switching states, (4) synthetic protein self-assembly on van der Waals substrates, and (5) the direct experimental confirmation of the atomic Migdal Effect. Rather than treating these milestones as disconnected successes of competing models, we deploy the Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection (DEHP) model to show they are parallel observable consequences of a single underlying architecture: …

Resolution Of The Grb 221009a Anomaly Via Conformal Metric-Shift Mechanics, Continuous Vacuum Strain, And High-Frequency Surface Acoustic Streaming Boundary Layer Modulation, Christopher L. Eckes Sep 2026

Resolution Of The Grb 221009a Anomaly Via Conformal Metric-Shift Mechanics, Continuous Vacuum Strain, And High-Frequency Surface Acoustic Streaming Boundary Layer Modulation, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This paper formalizes Paper 154 within the Unified Cosmological Substrate Equations (UCSE) and Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection (DEHP) frameworks to resolve the dual anomalies of the 300-TeV photon detected from gamma-ray burst GRB 221009A. Standard 3D physics requires ad-hoc, untestable additions—such as axion-like particles (ALPs) and Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV)—to account for why this extreme energy packet survived a 2-billion-light-year transit through intergalactic starlight and arrived one hour later than its lower-energy counterparts.

By stripping away modern academic tribalism and separating the foundational 2D phase fluid substrate (z=0) from emergent 3D geometric projections (z>0), we prove that the 300-TeV …

I'M Too Lazy To Come Up With A Good Title: How The Internet Makes Your Brain Lazy, Anonymous , Sep 2026

I'M Too Lazy To Come Up With A Good Title: How The Internet Makes Your Brain Lazy, Anonymous ,

Undercurrents: A Journal of Undergraduate Student Composition

This anonymous student writer is a Computer Science major and a Massachusetts resident who describes himself as “interested in everything but passionate about nothing” — except not divulging any personal information. He presently spends his days secluded, enjoying living his ideal lifestyle enshrouded “in the devastating abomination that we all know to be the Internet.” He wrote this paper for a Composition II research assignment in order to rationalize a “terrible memory.” He is currently “overcoming(?) perfectionism after a long 4-year battle.”

The Language Of Science Is Questioned, Cooper Wilkinson

Undercurrents: A Journal of Undergraduate Student Composition

Cooper is a Biochemistry major and a Cognitive Science minor who moved to Boston from Kansas City, Missouri. Cooper has always loved science, and has recently gained an interest in linguistics and the overlapping subjects of science and language. He wrote this essay during the Spring remote semester, and was proud to be able to “overcome the challenges of remote learning and grow even while the world was at a stand still.” Cooper says that he was grateful to be able to choose his writing topic and to no longer be “forbidden to write in the first person”. In addition, …

The Writing Process In The Modern Digital Age: A College Student's Perspective, Adil Shahid Sep 2026

The Writing Process In The Modern Digital Age: A College Student's Perspective, Adil Shahid

Undercurrents: A Journal of Undergraduate Student Composition

Adil is a Communications major living in Fall River, Massachusetts. Adil enjoys writing and reading, and for a long time he kept a daily journal where he vented about his days to the blank pages. He feels that many students his age have lost touch with writing and reading simply because schoolwork has tainted their views of it. He hopes “that people do not lose sight of their creative outlets and passions and hold on to them dearly.” Adil and his classmates created a survey about student writing habits because they felt it was “important to see where other peers …

The Marginalization Of African Americans In Educational Institutions Through Race And Language, Aneika Robinson Sep 2026

The Marginalization Of African Americans In Educational Institutions Through Race And Language, Aneika Robinson

Undercurrents: A Journal of Undergraduate Student Composition

Aneika is a sophomore and an undecided major who lives in Springfield, MA. She came to the United States from Jamaica when she was three years old. In this paper, Aneika wanted to address some of the subtle ways that “institutional racism is found within the foundations of schools in the United States.” She says that this essay “became something that was very special to me because it addressed a social issue that I am very passionate about. I care for equality of all people of color, as I believe that the color of a person’s skin should not determine …

Play-Based Literacy Learning In Early Education, Sarah Dickinson

Undercurrents: A Journal of Undergraduate Student Composition

Sarah is an Early Childhood Education major from Warwick, Rhode Island, and ever since she was little, she knew she wanted to have a job in which she was able to help others. After attending freshman orientation she realized she wanted to pursue a teaching career. Sarah says “I have worked in numerous classrooms over the last few years and have noticed the negative effects that didactic teaching practices have on children’s development, as well as their relationship with learning.” Sarah’s goal with her paper was to bring attention to the ways in which play can be reintroduced into early …

Measuring Maladaptive Social Media Use: Development And Validation Of A Multidimensional Four-Factor Scale, Leanna Tally, Abigail Mace, David Carscaddon

Journal of Counseling and Psychology

The advent of social media has had a tremendous effect on the realms of social interaction and entertainment, particularly in younger generations. As this sensation has continued to grow and intensify, increasing concern has been raised about the potential adverse effects of social media use, including the possibility of dependence and addiction-like symptoms. This study aimed to create a scale capable of measuring social media dependency based on an alternative and internet-specific theoretical model. Participants (n= 133, ages 18-25) answered questions about their social media usage and related variables, completing a 26-item scale, the MPIQ, and accompanying items. McDonald’s omega …

“And When We Wished We Would Drive Away The Night”: Preventing The Disneyfication Of Aglarond, Kristine Larsen Sep 2026

“And When We Wished We Would Drive Away The Night”: Preventing The Disneyfication Of Aglarond, Kristine Larsen

Journal of Tolkien Research

It is well-known that two trips to the Cheddar Gorge Caves formed the basis for the “Glittering Caves of Aglarond” found in Helm’s Deep and described in The Two Towers. Tolkien explained a 1971 letter how that “the passage was based on the caves in Cheddar Gorge and was written just after I had revisited these in 1940 but was still coloured by my memory of them much earlier before they became so commercialized. I had been there during my honeymoon nearly thirty years before.” In April 1940, the Tolkiens and their three youngest children took an extended holiday …

King Faisal University's Personal Data Protection Framework: An Analysis Of Saudi Regulatory Guidelines, Mohammed Ali Alghamdi

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and its Implementing Regulation impose binding duties on controllers, including public universities that process extensive personal and sensitive information. This study examines King Faisal University's (KFU) published privacy policy to determine the extent to which it reflects the mandatory provisions of the PDPL and the regulatory orientations issued by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). The study adopts a doctrinal legal method combined with qualitative content analysis and a gap assessment. It evaluates the policy's treatment of collection purposes, legal bases, data-subject rights, complaint channels, governance responsibilities, impact assessment, breach notification, …
