Additions To Clarinet Chamber Ensemble Music: A Focus On The Younger Groups, Martha Elvira Smith Gomez

ATU Scholars Symposium

Chamber ensembles are a valuable tool in music education. However, these ensembles are often overlooked or omitted from the school band program. These ensembles promote individual growth in multiple ways, boosting confidence, independence, reliability, and musicianship. While there already exists extensive repertoire covering the many different types of chamber ensembles, appropriate and diverse music geared towards younger clarinet trios can be very difficult to find.

In my presentation, I will be highlighting the importance of chamber music and guiding the audience through my process for creating the collection of the seven arrangements that compromise my creative portfolio. This collection provides …

Quantifying And Navigating The Potential Impacts Of The Mvp Southgate Extension On North Carolina’S Mmiw Crisis, Ryan Collins

ATU Scholars Symposium

Across the United States and Canada, there is an ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). While there are multiple intersecting factors that create these statistics, a considerable factor found across both nations is pipeline construction projects. The establishment of temporary worker camps for these projects has been shown to coincide with an increase in violent crime including human trafficking, sexual assault, and harassment against local women. In North Carolina, the proposed Southgate extension of the Mountain Valley Pipeline has been met with tremendous pushback from Indigenous North Carolinians, who remain concerned about the potential establishment of these …

Twelve GovState faculty participated in Quality Matters workshops on online teaching best practices facilitated from March 2021 to June 2023. Interviews with study participants revealed common themes and were compared to training responses and usage in Blackboard courses to determine transference. Results showed training was applied to regular practice in not only online courses but other …

Research Development Review: The NORDP Journal

As a practice, research development encompasses activities that expand innovation and discovery for individuals in academia and industry. Proposal management encompasses a specific suite of rigorous, reproducible, and structured activities dedicated to preparing a persuasive, coherent, and compliant proposal in response to a funding opportunity. While the approach is scalable, the presence of a skilled professional proposal manager is often reserved for multi-institutional, multi-million-dollar proposals. Proposal management is a well-established profession outside of higher education. Proposal management as a profession has …
