Scope Of Utilizing Waste Marble Dust In Concrete: Statistical And Surface Response Approach, Khatib Zada Farhan
Scope Of Utilizing Waste Marble Dust In Concrete: Statistical And Surface Response Approach, Khatib Zada Farhan
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Engineering Sciences
The sludge produced from marble processing has become a significant environmental hazard in major marble mining and processing countries. Utilizing marble dust (MD) as a partial replacement for cement offers benefits: it reduces the need for landfill disposal, which can lead to air and water pollution, and it decreases the consumption of cement, which contributes to the global carbon footprint. This study examines the key properties of concrete incorporated with MD and develops a composite mix with the optimal MD content using response surface methodology. The influence of MD/Cement ratio, Water/Cementitious material ratio, and parameters indicating important constitutive elements in …

Goodness-Of-Fit Test For The Kumaraswamy Distribution Via Energy Distance Approach With Applications To Real Data, Joseph Njuki, Thomas Gilbert
Goodness-Of-Fit Test For The Kumaraswamy Distribution Via Energy Distance Approach With Applications To Real Data, Joseph Njuki, Thomas Gilbert
Mathematics and Statistics
In this article, we develop a goodness-of-fit test for the Kumaraswamy distribution based on energy statistics. Due to the availability of its quantile (inverse) function, the Kumaraswamy distribution has been shown to be the preferred alternative to the Beta distribution, since both have bounded support in the (0,1) interval. The proposed test procedure is simple and more powerful against general alternatives. Under different settings, simulations show that the proposed test is capable of being well controlled for any given significance (nominal) levels. In terms of power comparisons, the proposed test outperforms other existing methods in different settings. We then apply …

An Exploration Of Audio-Score Techniques And Practices, Lindsay Vickery
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
This paper discusses the emergence of the Audio Score as a distinct compositional practice in which auditory communication, rather than visual notation, is the primary medium through which compositional information is conveyed to performers. Drawing on recent theoretical writing by Bhagwati, Sdraulig and Lortie, Schimana, and d’Heudières, the study situates Audio Scores within the evolution of technological, aesthetic, and ideological developments. The discussion proposes a framework distinguishing three core roles of auditory material in Audio Scores— orientation, emulation, and instruction—and seeks to clarify the boundaries between Audio Scores and adjacent practices. The analysis foregrounds performer experience as a critical site …

The Joy Of Shopping: Thrill Of The Treasure Hunt, Jane Gu, Cristina Nistor, Matthew Selove
Business Faculty Articles and Research
People sometimes enjoy the thrill of the hunt, which implies search can generate joy in addition to costs. Some customers say they enjoy searching for unique items such as vintage T-shirts and luxury handbags, and managers at warehouse stores, thrift stores, and many online selling platforms say they design their store format to offer a treasure hunt experience. We develop a model in which customers enjoy searching for a treasure. Our model’s search utility function includes a term based on the treasure’s net value, a term based on the instantaneous likelihood of discovering treasure, and a constant term reflecting other …

This qualitative study establishes a critical bridge between special education and liberatory pedagogy, positioning these historically siloed fields as interdependent for systemic justice. While Special Education Teachers (SETs) daily work involves resisting systemic oppression, special education has been historically excluded from liberatory pedagogy and instead focused on medicalized models and deficit based assumptions. The separation of liberatory pedagogy and special education contributes to professional siloing and a culture of compliance that prioritizes bureaucratic processes over the meaningful and radical work of SETs.
The research utilizes a qualitative design rooted in Collaborative Critical Inquiry (CCI) where an intentional sample of veteran, …

Background
Librarians providing evidence synthesis services often face project management challenges, from tracking progress on search strategy development to clarifying team roles. Librarians have a variety of tools to address these challenges.1 We propose using electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), which standardize how scientists record research progress. Institutions have adapted ELNs to protect intellectual property and improve rigor and reproducibility.
Although many published systematic reviews report following guidelines such as PRISMA, they still lack rigor and reproducibility.2 Therefore, one of the authors developed the Standards for Working with Research Librarians-on Systematic Reviews (SWiRL-SR) checklist to facilitate collaboration and improve …

Background: Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is classically defined as a neuroglial tauopathy characterized by perivascular accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau within neurons and astrocytes. Defining lesions localize to the depths of cortical sulci, implicating vascular and glial elements in early pathogenesis. This systematic scoping review evaluates the extent to which astrocytic dysfunction contributes to CTE pathogenesis, specifically whether astrocytic alterations precede or potentiate neuronal tauopathy.
Methods: A structured search of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus was conducted from inception through December 2025 in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Due to substantial heterogeneity in study design, including postmortem analyses, experimental …

Automatic Speed Guidance Method And Simulation Evaluation For Trams At Intersections, Jing Teng, Wencong Tong, Zhongjie Zhang, Xing Yao, Junxian Li
Journal of System Simulation
To address the lack of speed regulation mechanism and the high dispersion of operational time in the current manual driving mode, this paper proposes an automatic speed guidance method for trams at intersections. Considering the speed disturbances caused by potential traffic conflicts at intersections, an initial decision point for safe passage speed at an intersection is established, dividing the operational curve into deterministic segments and disturbance-response segments. To verify the effectiveness of the method, a case study of Songjiang Tram Line 1 is conducted.Driving simulation experiments are performed to obtain manual driving trajectories, and a dynamic trajectory simulation model …
