Fundamental Terms In The Topics Of Rulings And Their Relationship To Fundamentalist Thought, Abdullah Al-Bashir
Jerash for Research and Studies Journal مجلة جرش للبحوث والدراسات
This research deals with the denotations of fundamental terminology as it is used by the fundamentalist theologians in the study of Sharia ' rules. The research looks into the areas of differences and similarities in fundamental terminology from the point of view of expression and meaning. It also investigates the causes of the differences and similarities in the various fundamentalist schools. This reveals the great importance of studying fundamental terminology in the light of the intellectual disagreement among the investigators of this field of scholarship. This seems evident in the terms which have similar expressions but different meanings

In the age of narration many endeavour have been made and they differed to such extent so that every scholar would have his own book. Among this entire great legacy our distinguished scholars have singled six books to narrate Al hadith of the prophet and tracing down its prdiations. These books contain the most popular sayings and doings of the prophet among scholars however these books became the only authentic religious source after the holy book and many scholars like to keep and refer to. As a matter of fact there have been a great debate among scholars as …

All Things Arabia: Arabian Identity And Material Culture, Ileana Baird, Hülya Yağcıoğlu
All Works
By employing the innovative lenses of ‘thing theory’ and material culture studies, this collection brings together essays focused on the role played by Arabia’s things - from cultural objects to commodities to historical and ethnographic artifacts to imaginary things - in creating an Arabian identity over time. The Arabian identity that we convey here comprises both a fabulous Arabia that has haunted the European imagination for the past three hundred years and a real Arabia that has had its unique history, culture, and traditions outside the Orientalized narratives of the West. All Things Arabia aims to dispel existing stereotypes and …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The heyday of Islam was marked by the rapid development of Islamic science, culture, and education. This rapid development is supported by the existence of institutions that accommodate these developments. At that time, scientific institutions were established as learning science, culture, and Islamic education. Ibn Killis was a figure and pioneer of the development of education in the Fatimid Caliphate in Egypt. He founded a university and spent thousands of dinars per month to finance it. One of the most important foundations built during the Fatimid period was the construction of Dar al-Hikmah (The house of wisdom) or Dar al-'Ilm …

Throughout history, mosque libraries have played a critical part in the advancement of civilization. From an economic perspective, the advancement of civilization in terms of education and welfare cannot be separated from the existence of libraries. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of the development of the mosque library literature using bibliometric tools (RStudio with "biblioshiny" and Vosviewer) based on the Web of Science (WOS) database. This study shows patterns of co-authorship, document citations, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic evolution. "Theology" In The Public University, Sarah T. White
"Theology" In The Public University, Sarah T. White
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Recent studies have suggested the transformative potential of “theological” inquiry anddiscourse in religious studies, particularly, in furthering religious literacy and peace building initiatives through greater understanding of “other”. Yet, “theology” is a relatively new academic approach to peace building and conflict studies and is still marginalized to a large degree in secular universities. Vigorous inquiry into the intrinsic value and potential role of “theological” inquiry and discourse in secular academics, as well as possible pedagogical strategies, are worthwhile and necessary towards achieving the wider aims of the secular university. To those ends, this paper presents a broad survey of the …

Data analysis is done in five stages, namely writing all transcripts of interview results, finding statements about research focus, grouping these statements into meaningful units, and constructing all explanations about the meaning and essence of the informant's experience. The results showed that NUU implemented four …

The Relationship Between Motivation And Professional Learning For Teachers In Makkah, Saudi Arabia, Yassir Alzahrani
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Even though, there are many studies on teacher professional learning and many studies on teacher motivation, there is a lack of research to examine the relationship between teacher professional learning and motivation. This study examined the relationship between teacher motivation and professional learning in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
This study was conducted using two instruments. The first instrument was the Education Participation Scale (EPS) originally developed by Boshier (1991). However, the researcher used the most recent version of EPS by Richter et al. (2019). The EPS determines what factors most motivate teachers to participate in professional development. These factors are personal …

Assessing The Liability Exposure Of Public Joint-Stock Companies' Directors Under The Liability Rules In Saudi Arabia, Ahad Ali Alomran
Maurer Theses and Dissertations
Historically, the business environment in Saudi Arabia has been considered low risk. However, with the introduction of Vision 2030 in 2016, the socioeconomic transition and regulatory evolution witnessed in Saudi Arabia have reshaped the business environment and redefined the risk landscape faced by public companies and their boards. The increase in the market regulator’s monitoring and penalizing activities, the legislative reforms of management liability rules, the approval of securities class action, and the unprecedented rise in shareholder activities against their board of directors are recent developments that directly affect directors’ exposure to liability. Generally, operating in a legal system with …

Evil Eye is a type of act that is associated with pukau. There was no prominent debate among the Malaysian community about the evil eye, but discussions and cases of poaching took place through reports from news, newspapers and social media. Furthermore, the explanation of the evil eye among Islamic medical practitioners is also unclear, and some are even confused about the actual understanding by associating it with pukau. This study aims to explain from the point of view of the true understanding of the evil eye from the fiqh al-hadith angel and explains its relationship with pukau as well …

The Rhetorical Feature Of Chiasmus In The Quran And Its Translation Into English, Ahmad Al-Harahsheh
An-Najah University Journal for Research - B (Humanities)
The study aimed to investigate the linguistic functions, patterns and translation of chiasmus in the Quran. The sample of the study consisted of 32 different verses from the Quran accompanied with four reliable translations of the Quran, namely Palmer, Arberry, Pickthall and Yusuf Ali to examine how these chiasms translated into English. The study relied on Nida’s (1964) formal approach to translation as a theoretical framework. The study concludes that there are five chiastic patterns in Arabic in the Quran: double-chiasm (AB- BA), tripartite-chiasm (ABC-CBA), quad-chiasm (ABCD-DCBA), quintuple-chiasm (ABCDE-EDCBA) and hexa-chiasm (ABCDEF-FEDCBA). These chiasms are contrasted in the same verse …
A Wali’S Quest For Guidance; The Islamic Genealogies Of The Seh Mlaya, Verena Meyer
A Wali’S Quest For Guidance; The Islamic Genealogies Of The Seh Mlaya, Verena Meyer
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
The Seh Mlaya is a narrative tradition of Sunan Kalijaga’s conversion and becoming a wali that is well-known for its drawing on pre-Islamic narrative and discursive legacies. In this article, I explore the Islamic genealogies of the narrative as told in a Surakarta manuscript (RP 333). I argue that the author uses the verse narrative to articulate two prominent, yet seemingly opposed, intellectual and spiritual traditions in Islamic Java and the relation between them: the speculative and ecstatic teachings of the Sufi lineage of the Syattariyah on the one hand, and Ghazālī’s work with its emphasis on obedience and the …

Judicial Applications Of The Rule “Lesson In Contracts Is For The Purposes And Meanings Not For The Words And Premises" In The Egyptian Civil Law And The Perspective Of The Uae Civil Transactions Law, Dr. Tahani Hamed Abu Taleb
UAEU Law Journal
In this research, I tried to verify how the Egyptian Civil Law deals with the rule “Lesson in Contracts is for the Purposes and Meanings not for the Words and Says" which explains the contradiction between wordings of the contract and the real intent of the contracting parties, because it affects the parties’ obligations. For that purpose, understanding the rule from its origin (The science of the general rules of the jurisprudence) understanding its applications and verifying how other legislations deals with it is a must.
Although the Egyptian civil law has not mentioned this case, I tried to find …

Commerce And Justice: Ottoman And Venetian Courts In Istanbul During The Seventeenth Century, Tommaso Stefini
Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dissertations
"Commerce and Justice: Ottoman and Venetian Courts in Istanbul during the Seventeenth Century” analyzes legal disputes and economic transactions between Ottoman and Venetian merchants in Istanbul on a daily basis between 1600 and1620. At that time, the Venetians constituted the largest European community in the Ottoman capital, and they engaged intensively in trade ventures with Ottoman businessmen belonging to different religious and ethnic communities, including Muslim Turks, Sephardic Jews, and Orthodox Greeks. This dissertation asks how Ottomans and Venetians cooperated in commercial undertakings and solved controversies despite the absence of a system of inter-polity law and secular legal regimes in …

The Barāhima’S Dilemma: Ibn Al-Rāwandī’S Kitāb Al-Zumurrud And The Epistemological Turn In The Debate On Prophecy, Elizabeth Grace Price
Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dissertations
After the turn of the 10th century, Muslim theologians began to cite a puzzling thought experiment in their discussions of prophecy, which took the form of the following two-horned dilemma: either a prophet conveys what is in accordance with reason, so they would be superfluous, or a prophet conveys what is contrary to reason, so they would be rejected. This thought experiment was cited on the authority of a group called the Barāhima. The Barāhima’s own solution to the conundrum was simple – they did not recognise a need for prophets or revealed scriptures, because humans could obtain knowledge of …

Perceiving The Intangible: Introspective & Meditational Practices In Moroccan Sufism, Anna Gray Morales
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
Sufism has earned an exponentially prominent role within Morocco’s political and social arenas through recent decades. The Moroccan monarchy’s endorsement of the religious variant and its prevalence in pop-cultural events, national journalism, and literature are a few indicators of its growing influence. However, the tradition is, by no means, a modern construction and has existed since the beginning of the larger Islamic tradition. What qualities, then, has granted Sufism its relevance as a cornerstone of Moroccan society today? Its chief focus on introspective and meditational practices, rather than physical religious discipline, may foster a more inclusive and liberal form of …

As a Muslim Majority Country governed by laws born out of religious doctrine, Morocco deals with issues of equality and justice that are forcefully related to and intertwined with religion. This paper looks at the intersection of religion and equality, especially in the interpretive context of society and governance. It also considers the difference in religious interpretation affecting religious use and image. Additionally, the religious notion of Tawhid is analyzed in a symbolic context to further understand how God’s nature influences the actions of humans, especially with actions pertaining to social justice and equality. Through ethnographic interview, the perspective on …

Making Yourself At Al-Dar: On Islamic Education, Social Imaginations, And Affective Possibilities, Alia Amr Amin Shaddad
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis explores the Dar as an alternative space of knowledge, and unravels how its different contexts and rhythms allow us to imagine what that alternative means in the everyday. In order to do so, this thesis unpacks questions of space, time, subjectivity, and potential. I look at the ways in which this Dar is constituted as a space through its relations with other spaces and by engaging questions of temporality. By doing so, this thesis maps this space to make clear what and how it is, and highlights the historical and geographical context it exists in. This also includes …
