Acclimatization Of Older Men To Work In Heat., Edward Payson Daugherty

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

There is a paucity of evidence to support the hypothesis that there is no significant difference (NSD) between the rate of acclimatization gain and loss of young and old men as they work in a hot environment. Ten young men (Group 1 (x age 24.8 years)) and 5 older men (Group 2 (x age 64.4 years)) volunteered to complete a 39 day exercise regimen in an environmental chamber. Days 1-4 were the Baseline Phase (BL) (68-72 F{dollar}\\sp\\circ{dollar} dry bulb (DB), relative humidity (RH) 40%). The Anchor: 1986

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Educator Preparation & Leadership Faculty Works

The first part of this paper discusses the nature and use of high-inference and low-inference criteria for the evaluation of science textbooks. The second part discusses a project entitled Criteria for the Analysis and Selection of Science Textbooks (CASST). Included are results of a state survey which show that very little emphasis is given to problem-solving in the forms used by textbook adoption committees, that few states use science textbook appraisal forms that are specifically designed for grade level groupings, and that science process skills are not often given much prominence in textbook evaluation forms.
