The Social Views Of Dwight L. Moody And Their Relation To The Workingman Of 1860-1900, Myron Raymond Chartier Aug 1969

The Social Views Of Dwight L. Moody And Their Relation To The Workingman Of 1860-1900, Myron Raymond Chartier

Fort Hays Studies Series

This evaluation is complicated for two basic reasons. The amount of subjectivity that enters into one's assessment always plagues any attempt on the part of the historian to be objective; however, it seems that religious phenomenon is even more difficult to evaluate honestly. This writer believes that he has no "axes to grind" in regard to Moody and the workingman. The record of history has been the primary interest.

Consideration Of Anticipatory Uses In Decisions On Coastal Development, Daniel Wilkes Jul 1969

Consideration Of Anticipatory Uses In Decisions On Coastal Development, Daniel Wilkes

San Diego Law Review

Between 1849 and 1965, San Francisco Bay shrank from 700 square miles to its present 400 square miles before a halt to piecemeal filling stopped its irreversible destruction. This loss should have been foreseeable. When decision makers work on an ad hoc basis, it is logical that they would look no further than the proposal at hand. Any objections considered were solely from those parties already using the Bay. In Florida, a series of decisions taking fresh waters away from the Everglades National Park now threatens to destroy entirely the ecology of the Everglades. The existence of this threat illustrates …

The History Of Radio Station Kfuo 1954 To 1969, Roger R. Kahle Jun 1969

The History Of Radio Station Kfuo 1954 To 1969, Roger R. Kahle

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of this research paper is two-fold. First, I hope to bring together significant source material for future historical analyses of Radio Station KFUO during the years 1954-1969. Hence, this paper is accompanied by a bulky Appendix, that reproduces the significant historical documents, and by a detailed Bibliobraphy, noting the location of additional materials. Second, this time period was selected both because scanty historical study has been focussed on it heretofore, and because 1954-1969 is the tenure of KFUO's second General Manager. The events that occurred during this time period have significantly altered the historical motion of KFUO and …

The easternmost of the counties, Caroline, is located on the edge of the Tidewater section; Orange and Culpeper, in the Piedmont, extend to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The land is generally flat in the east, becomes more rolling as it approaches the mountains. Soils range from sandy loams in Caroline County to the sandy and clay loams with underlying crystalline rock …

A Comparative Study Of The Prolegomena In Karl Barth's Christliche Dogmatik Of 1927 And The Kirchliche Dogmatik Of 1932-1938, Heino Olavi Kadai May 1969

A Comparative Study Of The Prolegomena In Karl Barth's Christliche Dogmatik Of 1927 And The Kirchliche Dogmatik Of 1932-1938, Heino Olavi Kadai

Doctor of Theology Dissertation

After his first Prolegomena in 1927 seemed to indicate the shape which his theology was to take, Barth abruptly discontinued his work to start over again. The new beginning in 1932 led to the monumental Kirchliche Dogmatik. Did Barth need to start over again? In what way do the two Prolegomena agree or disagree? What were the advantages of the Kirchliche Dogmatik? These are the questions that should be answered in this study. In the process of the investigation Barth's basic foundations of theology become visible in the historical context in which they were conceived and in which they are …

A Survey Of Trends And Problems In Biblical Interpretation, Edgar Krentz May 1969

A Survey Of Trends And Problems In Biblical Interpretation, Edgar Krentz

Concordia Theological Monthly

Any man fool enough to accept the assignment described in the title above deserves his fate. He is like the mythological traveler approaching ancient Thebes. To go forward means to meet the Sphinx and her dread riddle; to miss the answer means to be thrown headlong down a precipitous cliff and face destruction. Yet the possibility that one may deprive Oedipus of his glory by answering the riddle leads one to trudge along the dusty path under the hot sun.

It includes a complete list of volumes and pamphlets dealing with the various aspects and details of the Lutheran Church in America. If this source was used, it would embrace some thirty thousand titles.

Measuring Trainee Comprehension Of Casework Relationship In A Public Welfare Orientation Program, Margaret Berweger

Dissertations and Theses

This study was undertaken as a first step in measuring effectiveness of the Oregon State Public Welfare Orientation Center program in teaching principles of the casework relationship as conceptualized by Felix P. Biestek. This anticipated the development of a reasonably reliable instrument, improvement and validation of which would be undertaken in a subsequent study.

The population tested was made up of male and female college graduates, newly hired by the State, who were then entering a four week orientation program for caseworkers. Their education and experience varied, but all had passed the State Civil Service examination for this position.
