A Hermeneutical Model Based On The First Epistle Of John, Patrick Vance Apr 1979

A Hermeneutical Model Based On The First Epistle Of John, Patrick Vance

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

The purpose of this senior project is to give the present student an opportunity to synthesize three years of seminary-level training in the area of hermeneutics, with an eye to its operation in the pastoral setting. The project therefore seeks to present a model, directed to the local pastor, of how a biblical book can be prepared for an expositional preaching series. The model endorses three stages of preparation study thought by the student to be essential to a quality pulpit ministry. The stages are history, exegesis and theology. Each stage is contained within a major chapter which endeavors to …

American Perceptions Of Chinese Communism 1945-1950, Edward C. O'Dowd

History Theses & Dissertations

This thesis explores the images of the Chinese Communists which were held by career Foreign Service Officers in China, non-career diplomats in China and the decision-making elite in Washington during the period of time from 1945 to 1950. The study centers on the questions of the tractability of the Chinese Communists to negotiations and the connection of the Chinese Communists to the Soviets. The study uses several propositions of social psychology to explain the differing images and the resulting effect on Sino-American relations.

West German Feminist Book Publishers, Mary Grunwald Jan 1979

West German Feminist Book Publishers, Mary Grunwald

Women's Studies Quarterly

Feminist publishers are the sensation in the German book trade. The entire phenomenon has sprung up in four years, a measure of the great accomplishment of the women's movement in a society that, compared to that of the United States or England, holds women in open contempt.

Far and away the biggest, most stunningly successful enterprise is the Frauenoffensive Verlag in Munich. Its rise to a snug place among established publishers was aided by …

In the hope of giving some direction for a regional approach to the legal past of the South, Vanderbilt Law School, with the generous assistance of the University Research Council, sponsored a two-day Symposium on this important topic in the spring of 1978 and invited leading scholars to participate. Principal papers by Richard Maxwell Brown, Maxwell H. Bloomfield, Robert M. Ireland, A. E. Keir Nash, and Robert J. Haws and Michael V. Namorato discussed diverse aspects of southern legal history.
