International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction In Poland, we note an increasing number of students with special or specific educational needs, who need support in achieving milestones of physical and cognitive development. Among them are obese, with posture defects, depression or mood disorders, as well as students from Ukraine. Given the physical, mental, emotional and social health benefits of being physically active, adapted physical activity can be a support for these students. The aim of our work is to present assumptions and partial results of the project "Deficits are not a limitation - adapted physical activity an opportunity for every student”.
Methodology of the project …

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Outdoor active play during early childhood supports healthy child development and is a fundamental right for all children. Childcare centres are one of the first opportunities for participation in active play among children with and without disabilities, presenting a potential space for inclusive outdoor active play to occur. Children with disabilities (CWD) face many barriers to participation resulting in exclusion within the childcare setting, especially when outdoors. To promote and sustain outdoor active play during early childhood for all children, this project aimed to understand parent and early childhood educator perspectives of barriers and facilitators to outdoor active play for …

Self-advocacy refers to the ability of an individual to efficiently understand and express their rights and needs (Holzberg et al., 2019). Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a targeted self-advocacy program on children with visual impairments. The Physical Activity Self-Advocacy Inventory for Adolescents with and without Disabilities was used. The intervention occurred within two week long overnight sports camps for children and youth with visual impairments. A systematic self-advocacy intervention was implemented throughout the week by self-advocacy experts. The participants were given the PASAI before and after the camp to assess their perceived competence …

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction The importance of sustainable physical literacy (S-PL) in childhood is emphasized to support lifelong physical activity and health (WHO, 2018). Despite increasing recognition of physical literacy’s significance, its application among children with developmental disabilities (DD) remains underexplored (Kaioglou & Venetsanou, 2020). This systematic review aims to conceptualize S-PL and propose a comprehensive S-PL framework for this population.
Methodology A systematic search of English and Korean academic literature published between 1995 and 2024 was conducted across PubMed, SPORTDiscus, ERIC, DBpia, KISS, and RISS. The search followed the PICO-TSS framework, using keywords ‘physical literacy’ AND ‘physical’ AND ‘literacy,’ considering a lack …

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction: Mothers of autistic children face physiological and psychological health concerns (Li et al., 2022; Lovell et al., 2021). While yoga may improve physical and emotional well-being in parents of children with disabilities (Özdemir & Karadağ, 2024), research on yoga programs specifically designed for mothers of autistic children remains limited. To develop effective yoga interventions that promote health and well-being of mothers of autistic children, it is essential to understand their perspectives on yoga and the factors influencing their participation. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the attitudes and intentions of mothers of autistic children toward yoga participation.

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction
Physical activity plays a crucial role in the growth and development of children. However, existing literature has shown that children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) generally participate in physical activities less frequently. 18% of boys with ASD fail to achieve 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) on any given day throughout the week. However, there is a relative scarcity of the related research in China. This study seeks to investigate the physical activity patterns of children with ASD in China.
Methodology
A total of 63 ASD families participated in this study. Children's physical activity patterns were assessed using …
The Foundations Of International Taxation: Knocked From Post To Pillars, Yariv Brauner
The Foundations Of International Taxation: Knocked From Post To Pillars, Yariv Brauner
Akron Law Review
After a century of convergence and consolidation, the international tax regime is at a crossroads. A recent program promoted by the OECD, known as the two pillars program, departs in many ways from long standing norms of the regime. But the OECD and many states insist that the foundations of the regime have not changed, portraying the two pillars as a negotiated, pragmatic compromise that responds mainly to the challenges that the digital economy presented to the old rules. This article rejects this portrayal, arguing that the program is far from being a balanced or a truly negotiated compromise between …

The Phoenix Takes Flight: The Importance Of Trauma-Informed Positive Education, Kathleen Turner Ledgerwood
Feminist Pedagogy
Since the pandemic, trauma has touched almost everyone. Pervasive illness, death, and isolation affected us in ways we have not paused to process. Many students were young and particularly affected by the pandemic. The rise in mental health concerns has made it more imperative to address mental health within our pedagogy. This article will outline strategies for helping to manage mental health within our pedagogy in order to better help everyone using an approach that aligns with trauma-informed and positive psychology pedagogical practices. Our future is one of compassionate, caring, trauma-informed work that bolsters the well-being of our students.

Exploring Dimensions Of Crystallized Identities, Candice L. Ruh
Feminist Pedagogy
For college students, learning about the components of identity can generate deeper knowledge about how personal and social identities differ, and how identities influence the way individuals experience socio-cultural systems and structures. The Exploring Dimensions of Crystallized Identities activity uses principles of self-reflexivity and dialogue to explore theoretical frameworks for practical application. This experiential activity is a facilitated dialogue driven by student involvement and is best suited for students in mid- to upper-level undergraduate courses. It encourages students to reflect on their and others’ identities, and to consider the social impacts of diversity in their lives.

Creating And Re-Energizing Communities Of Meaning Throughout A Course, Nancy A. Heise, Anum Ahmed
Feminist Pedagogy
We propose a feminist course approach wherein instructors build what Amie Macdonald (2002) called "communities of meaning" in their classrooms (p.120). Through an intentional focus on supporting students' 1) individual identities, 2) holistic well-being, and 3) epistemic "buy-in" to classroom content, students will connect more deeply not only to themselves and their classmates, but also to the course material. We suggest four community-building touchpoints as a starting point for instructors looking to integrate this course approach. We start with an activity to lessen awkwardness around first-day name pronunciation. We emphasize the importance of creating collaborative classroom expectations with students, and …

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction Athletes competing in elite Deaf sports, known as Deaflympic sports, display unique sociocultural characteristics (Clark & Mesch, 2018). Yet, sport psychology research has largely overlooked this group of athletes for decades (Markov-Glazer et al., 2023). This study therefore aimed to examine sport psychology practices in Deaflympic sport, focusing on identifying distinctive characteristics, needs, and preferences of this athlete group.
Methodology To achieve this goal, six in-depth focus group interviews were conducted with 23 active Deaflympic athletes (26.1% female) and four coaches from individual sports (e.g., tennis) and team sports (e.g., handball). Participants discussed their use of psychological skills and …

Introduction Participation in sport is a vital contributor to health, social inclusion, and quality of life1. Despite growing awareness, people with disabilities continue to face barriers to full participation.
