Enhancing Staff Knowledge Of Prenatal Depression Screening And Follow-Up Protocols, Gladys Ajohmbu Esunji

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This staff education project addressed inconsistent staff knowledge of prenatal depression screening and follow-up protocols in an outpatient behavioral health practice serving prenatal patients. Prenatal depression is a nursing practice concern because delayed identification and inconsistent follow-up may affect maternal well-being, infant outcomes, family functioning, and timely access to behavioral health support. The practice-focused question was: According to the evidence, among clinical staff in an outpatient maternal mental health setting, what is the impact of structured staff education on adherence to prenatal depression screening on follow-up protocol knowledge? The purpose was to improve clinical staff knowledge through a structured education …

A Multimodal Approach To The Treatment Of Primary Chronic Pelvic Pain In Adult Women: The Positive Impact Of Shared Decision Making On Health Outcomes, Kylie Freese Jul 2026

A Multimodal Approach To The Treatment Of Primary Chronic Pelvic Pain In Adult Women: The Positive Impact Of Shared Decision Making On Health Outcomes, Kylie Freese

Summer Interdisciplinary Research Symposium

Objective:

The goal of this paper was to assess approaches to management of idiopathic chronic pelvic pain (ICPP) in females to improve health outcomes.

Methods:

A structured literature search was conducted in the MEDLINE and CINAHL databases. Studies were included if they evaluated therapeutic interventions for primary/idiopathic chronic pelvic pain in adult females and reported treatment outcomes. Studies with adolescents, males, non-treatment topics, diagnostics, or unrelated conditions were excluded.

Results:

Myofascial therapy resulted in relief of anxiety and depression (-4.0+/-3.2, p< 0.001; -3.4+/-2.5, p< 0.001) and female sexual function index (FSFI) (7.8+/-6.4, p< 0.001). Psychological approaches had similar results regarding pain improvement, however showed worsening of FSFI (-0.31 [ -0.95, 0.34]; -1.95 [-3.63, -0.28]). Duloxetine and amitriptyline trials displayed improvement in pain, with amitriptyline impacting urinary symptoms and duloxetine resulted in lower pain scores. Cannabidiol improved pain, sleep, and mood disturbances (p≤0.001). Multimodal treatment resulted in greater improvement in pain (-2.19, [-3.17, -1.22], p=0.002) and FSFI (2.47, [1.06,3.88], p=0.030). No study showed statistically significant data displaying improvement/worsening quality of life.

Conclusion:

Each individual treatment resulted in improvements in the measured outcomes. Multimodal treatment approaches result in greatest outcomes when …

The Accelerated Apprenticeship Model: An Innovative, Collaborative Solution, Lauren L. Niles, Misty Smith, Sheila S. Gentry, Shikha Modi, Charles Reynolds

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Nursing shortages continue to plague our profession. It is projected that the nation will face a nursing shortage of 78,610 full time nurses in 2025 (National Center for Health Workforce Analysis, 2022). Nursing graduates are also leaving the profession prematurely (Tate, 2024). In 2025, approximately 22.3% of registered nurses (RNs) left their positions within the first year of work (NSI Nursing Solutions, Inc., 2025). Leaders in nursing education continue to seek novel methods to increase the number of practice-ready graduates. The need to better provide graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills for early practice presented an opportunity to create …

Using An Outcome-Based Education Design To Drive Dissemination Of Nursing Work, Kathleen Bradley, Ningning Guo Jul 2026

Using An Outcome-Based Education Design To Drive Dissemination Of Nursing Work, Kathleen Bradley, Ningning Guo

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Nursing work dissemination often begins with a national podium or poster presentation. Submitting an abstract to these professional conferences can be challenging and time-consuming for novice writers. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Outcome-Based Continuing Education (OB-CE) model was used as a framework to design a hands-on Abstract Writing Workshop to help learners embark on their dissemination journey (ANCC, 2021; ANCC, 2025).

In September 2022, an environmental scan revealed less than fifty percent of projects were disseminated beyond the unit of improvement. Additionally, many nurses lacked knowledge and skills of abstract writing, often the first step in the dissemination process. …

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Older adults living alone are particularly vulnerable to declines in their physical, psychological, and social well-being (1). Voice-activated technology (VAT) has emerged as a promising approach to enhance accessibility, social connectedness, and independent living among older adults. This holds significant potential for nurses to optimize care delivery systems and support the overall well-being of older adults (2). However, evidence on its impact on multidimensional well-being, particularly for those living alone, remains limited. (3, 4). Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effects of VAT interventions on the multidimensional well-being of older adults living alone.

A meta-analysis was conducted in accordance …

Culturally Responsive Teaching And Practices Of Online Faculty, Oluwatoyin Okafor, Deanna L. Howe

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Online teaching and learning continue to expand across U.S. institutions (Martin et al., 2020). Online courses often attract even more diverse students than traditional classrooms, including individuals from varied racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, linguistic, religious, and gender backgrounds (Ballenger & Jiang, 2023). To enhance learning and promote success, instructors must address these cultural differences (Kumi-Yeboah et al., 2022; Shonfeld et al., 2021). Culturally responsive teaching (CRT) draws on students’ cultural knowledge, prior experiences, and performance styles to make learning more relevant, engaging, and effective (Abacioglu et al., 2020).

This mixed-methods study entailed revising the Culturally Responsive Teaching Knowledge and Practices of …

Comparative Analysis Of Strain-To-Velocity Conversion Methods For Active-Source Das Data And Collocated Nodal Stations, Prajwal Panthi, Brady R. Cox Jul 2026

Comparative Analysis Of Strain-To-Velocity Conversion Methods For Active-Source Das Data And Collocated Nodal Stations, Prajwal Panthi, Brady R. Cox

Civil and Environmental Engineering Student Research

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) provides dense spatial measurements of the dynamic strain along fiber optic cables, offering high-resolution wave sensing for ground motion monitoring and subsurface imaging applications. However, DAS records the axial strain or strain rate, whereas traditional seismic and engineering ground motion equipment and derived metrics are based on particle displacement, velocity, or acceleration, necessitating reliable strain-to-velocity conversion methods. This study evaluates three widely used conversion approaches: the fk-rescaling, curvelet-based conversion, and slant-stack methods. These approaches are applied to a unique high-energy, near-field, active-source dataset collected at the Birds Landing Site in Sherman Island, California. The dataset includes …

All Decisions

In this licensee holdover proceeding, Respondent Aaron Dancy claimed succession rights as the nephew of the former tenant and moved for summary judgment. The court granted dismissal, finding that Petitioner's failure to disclose the subject premises' regulatory status under LIHTC, the 420-c Tax Incentive, the J-51 Tax Incentive, and a regulatory agreement prejudiced Respondent by depriving him of information material to his succession claim.

2020-Current year OA Pubs

BACKGROUND: Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) surveillance is critical for patient safety. Many healthcare systems use electronic algorithms to flag candidate infection events but still require manual chart review to confirm CAUTI cases. We evaluated the use of a large language model (LLM) to enhance CAUTI surveillance.

METHODS: We analyzed 919 potential CAUTI cases flagged by the electronic surveillance algorithm at Barnes-Jewish Hospital from 2021 to 2024. These cases were previously classified as 291 CAUTIs and 628 non-CAUTIs by trained infection preventionists (IPs). Several approaches for applying the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) CAUTI definition after extracting clinical data from …

Development Of Computational Imaging Pipelines To Advance Virtual Pet Imaging Trials, Suya Li Jul 2026

Development Of Computational Imaging Pipelines To Advance Virtual Pet Imaging Trials, Suya Li

McKelvey School of Engineering Graduate Student Theses & Dissertations

Positron emission tomography (PET) provides functional information that is essential for disease diagnosis, treatment assessment, and biomedical research. However, the development and validation of PET imaging methods often require simulated imaging data with known ground truth, as well as large clinical datasets that are realistic and scalable. These requirements are difficult to satisfy using clinical studies alone, motivating the development of virtual PET imaging techniques. Physics-based simulation can model PET acquisition with high accuracy, but its computational cost limits its large-scale usage. Meanwhile, conventional digital phantom-based image generation approaches often lack the anatomical diversity and heterogeneous tracer uptake patterns observed …

The Case For Virtual Prison Games In The Fourth Industrial Revolution, Colleen M. O'Toole, Calvin V. Nguyen

Journal of Science & Technology Law

This paper, a shortened version of an article which will be published in the Northern Illinois University Law Review in Fall 2024, aims to reframe the debate over how best to address the enormous financial and social costs of a criminal justice system which relies on traditional, brick-and-mortar prisons to control criminal behavior.

The first part of the paper presents a comparison of the current system of incarceration and the system of electronic monitoring that exists alongside it.  It first evaluates the type of offenders any alternative solution would be appropriate for.  It then compares the cost of the current …

Between Promise And Power: Artificial Intelligence, Shareholder Activism, And The Corporate Governance Of The Next Generation, Pierluigi Matera Jul 2026

Between Promise And Power: Artificial Intelligence, Shareholder Activism, And The Corporate Governance Of The Next Generation, Pierluigi Matera

Journal of Science & Technology Law

Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to influence the dynamics of corporate governance, with shareholder activism emerging as a particularly dynamic and contested domain of transformation.

Institutional investors are already leveraging sophisticated AI-powered tools to enhance decision-making and manage risk. At the same time, AI offers new possibilities for smaller and traditionally marginalized shareholders. By enabling real-time monitoring and strategic analysis, AI can amplify the power of individual investors—especially younger cohorts who combine technological fluency with values such as environmental sustainability and diversity—to shape identity-driven proxy campaigns. Although not AI-driven, the campaign led by Engine No. 1 against ExxonMobil illustrates how …

Exposing The Wizard Of Oz: Transparency And Testing Of Artificial Intelligence Systems, Henry H. Perritt

Journal of Science & Technology Law

The press and media, elected officials, some high-tech entrepreneurs, and a new breed of “ethicists” are calling loudly for governments to regulate artificial intelligence (“AI”), especially generative AI, popularized by ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Much of the clamor is ill-informed about the technology and based on exaggerated concerns about its risks. Nevertheless, the pressure for regulation is real and is already evoking governmental responses. Transparency requirements are far better than command-and-control regulation. The technology is far too new, however, for any form of command-and-control regulation. Would-be regulators need to take a deep breath and sit back for a while to …
