Background: By 2050, adults age 60+ will comprise 22% of the world’s population.1 95% of Americans have a chronic condition2 and 63% live in poverty.3-4 Innovative low-cost solutions are needed to support aging-in-place.5-7 The purpose of this case study is to examine the experience of one older adult using a low-cost Smart Health System (SHS) designed to assist with managing chronic conditions. Background: Infertility is a global health issue, and it is estimated that around 48million couples and 186 million individuals are affected worldwide1,2. South Korea is currently facing a significant demographic challenge, with a fertility rate of 0.72 in 2023—the lowest among OECD countries3. Notably, 9.3% of births in 2022 were from government-supported fertility treatments4. Despite an increasing proportion of births resulting from such treatments, there are still no established guidelines to protect couples' confidentiality.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed many changes in global healthcare and the nursing workforce (1). Among these evolutions were the rapid advances in the use of technology to facilitate patient care. Many patients and providers have had experience with tele-health for outpatient visits or specialty consultations, but truly embedding technology, in the form of virtual nursing to support the provision of in-patient, non-ICU nursing care, is a newer phenomenon. This pilot study evaluates the impact of high-fidelity pediatric simulation training on nursing students’ communication skills related to antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) with caregivers and families. The research focuses on developing and testing a simulation lab to enhance students’ decision-making, patient education, and therapeutic communication in AMS contexts. Using a quasi-experimental design, pre- and post-simulation surveys assessed effectiveness, with the Simulation Effectiveness Tool - Modified (SET-M) by Leighton et al. (2015) as the post-survey measure. In a 2023 United States survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 40% of high school students reported symptoms of depression, and 10% reported an attempted suicide.1 For students experiencing mental health symptoms, school nurses are ideally positioned to identify and respond to them.2 However, few school nurses employ a comprehensive intervention strategy that includes all three components of SBIRT: 1) screening for mental health concerns, 2) in-the-moment brief intervention, and 3) referral to mental health treatment if warranted.2-4 The purpose of this study was to describe how school nurses perceive their role in addressing …

Purpose: Traditional training methods for new graduate nurses often rely on bedside experiences and lectures, which may limit the development of clinical skills essential for hands-on patient care. This study evaluates the effectiveness of high-fidelity simulation training in improving clinical competencies among newly graduated pediatric nurses in Taiwan, specifically in managing seizure emergencies. The study examines gains in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.

This case study documents the effort to plan and execute a fully hybrid annual meeting for the Society of Southwest Archivists in 2023. By making the conference accessible to both in-person and virtual attendees, the society moved toward greater inclusivity and equity by offering a professional development opportunity that was affordable and within the ability of a volunteer organization. The case study provides a blueprint for any archival organization to follow in creating hybrid meetings.

Hospitalization can be a distressing experience for children, often resulting in heightened anxiety and pain due to unfamiliar environments, procedures, and personnel. This literature review examines the effectiveness of Child Life Play Interventions—specifically Developmentally Supportive Play, Psychological Preparation Play, and Distraction Play—in reducing pediatric patients’ healthcare- related anxiety and pain. Developmentally supportive play provides children with familiar, age-appropriate activities that help maintain normalcy and routine, thereby reducing stress during extended hospital stays. Psychological preparation play uses role-playing and hands-on demonstrations to enhance children’s understanding of medical procedures, alleviating anxiety and decreasing perceived pain. This literature review investigates the relationship between marital conflict and male depression, focusing on emotional withdrawal and spousal hostility as key contributing factors. Male depression, often underreported due to differences in symptom expression such as anger and irritability, is explored in the context of marital dynamics. Emotional withdrawal, characterized by avoidance behaviors during conflict, is particularly prevalent among men and linked to rigid gender role perceptions. This behavior correlates with increased depressive symptoms and reduced well-being. An adult female (26 years old) with a chief complaint of poor dental alignment, deep bite, and maxillary protrusion came for orthodontic evaluation. Clinical examination indicated Class II canine relationship combined with large overbite and overjet and accentuated Curve of Spee. Radiographic examination showed skeletal Class II and lower right first molar missing. Improved Super-elastic Ti-Ni alloy wire (ISW, developed by Institute of Science Tokyo) curve was added over the lower arch to flatten Curve of Spee, and extraction of bilateral upper first premolars with intramaxillary elastics to perform anterior retraction was considered. Purpose: Skeletal stability after orthognathic surgery remains challenging in Class III malocclusion. This study examined how preoperative mandibular plane angle (FMA) and its surgical changes affect postoperative outcomes.

Patients and Methods: Sixty adult Taiwanese patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion treated by bimaxillary surgery without genioplasty were retrospectively analyzed. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) at preoperative (T0), immediate postoperative (T1), and orthodontic debonding, ≥ 1-year postoperative (T2) stages was used to measure sagittal (Pog-CP), vertical (Me-FH), and transverse (Go–Go) changes. Pearson correlation and multiple regression analyses were performed.

Objectives: The purpose of the study was to determine the volume and to assess the anatomical variations of maxillary sinus using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials and Methods: The study was conducted using 64 CBCT scans of the subjects belonging to the age group 18-50 years. Using Care Stream 3D imaging software, the scans were exported and read in an orthogonal slicing view.
