The Experience Of Administrative Burdens In Snap And Medicaid: New Evidence From A Nationally Representative Survey Of Low-Wage Workers, Stephen Roll, Mathieu Despard, Yung Chun

Center for Social Development Research

When functioning correctly, the U.S. social safety net ensures that everyone can reach a basic standard of living, regardless of economic circumstances, and provides financial support to help families who have fallen on hard times due to job losses or other adverse life events. However, the programs often have complex rules around eligibility, documentation requirements, and compliance. Those features and negative experiences with program staff impose psychological costs—collectively referred to as administrative burdens—that can make enrolling and staying in the programs difficult for many families. Drawing upon data from the Workforce Economic Inclusion and Mobility Survey of a nationally …

The Relationship Between Physical Activity And Cognitive Performance In African American Older Adults, Rio S. Tate Nov 2025

The Relationship Between Physical Activity And Cognitive Performance In African American Older Adults, Rio S. Tate

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The number of older adults in the United States is expected to increase in the years to come. As we age, cognitive performance is noted to decline. African American older adults are more likely than non-Hispanic Whites to experience cognitive impairment and dementia. It is known that physical activity is a modifiable risk factor for dementia. It is not known the extent to which physical activity engagement is related to cognitive performance in African American older adults, and which variables, if any, moderate this association. To answer this question, the authors examined the association between three intensities of physical activity …

A School’S Guide To Tackling Bullying With The B-Pat Framework, Eric Landers, Juliann Sergi Mcbrayer

National Youth Advocacy & Resilience Journal

Bullying is one of the most prevalent forms of victimization in schools, affecting nearly one in five students and contributing to academic decline, absenteeism, and mental health concerns. The Bullying Problem Analysis Triangle (B-PAT) provides a schoolwide framework to proactively address bullying by examining three core components: the aggressor, the target, and the opportunity. When one of these elements is disrupted, the bullying dynamic weakens. B-PAT also emphasizes empowering support staff as place managers, protecting targets through effective school climate and education, and redirecting aggressors toward prosocial leadership. Using data, schools can analyze patterns and adapt policies. Through training, strategic …

The Impact Of Npo Credibility On Enterprise Brand Image In Cause-Related Marketing: A Study Based On The Mediating Effect Of Perceived Corporate Hypocrisy, Jun Wang, Ling Zheng, Xinyi Li, Chiquan Guo

Marketing Faculty Publications

In recent years, scandals regarding the malpractices of many nonprofit organizations (NPOs) for selfish ends have eroded public trust in them. Therefore, it is necessary to consider whether the credibility of NPOs, as one of the three key implementers in cause-related marketing (CRM) campaigns, has a transfer effect on enterprise brand image. The aim of the current study is to examine the relationship between NPO credibility and enterprise brand image, along with its underlying mechanism and boundary conditions. Drawing on the affect-transfer model as well as attribution theory, we propose a theoretical model. This model highlights the mediating role of …

Quality Improvement Project: Impact Of Educational Intervention On Post-Acute And Long-Term Care Staff's Confidence And Accuracy In Aims Screening For Tardive Dyskinesia, Tana Whitt

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a chronic, often irreversible movement disorder associated with prolonged antipsychotic use. In post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings, inconsistent Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) screening practices and limited clinician education contribute to under recognition and delayed treatment. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement (QI) project evaluated whether an educational intervention impacted clinicians’ knowledge, confidence, and perceived importance of AIMS screening among licensed and unlicensed PALTC staff. Guided by Donabedian’s Model of Quality and Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model, the project used a pre-test/post-test design to measure outcomes before and after completion of the Drug-Induced Movement …

Uav Remote Sensing For Assessment Of Conservative Management Practices In Maize-Soybean Cropping System, Aakriti Poudel

LSU Master's Theses

Sustainable agriculture practices promote cover cropping, which enhances nutrient management and impacts subsequent crop productivity in field crop rotations. Precision agriculture technology, particularly Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) remote sensing, enables a detailed evaluation of crop management. The studies were conducted in a maize-soybean rotation system with winter cover cropping and fallow management. The maize experiment investigated the effect of nitrogen application rates and cover cropping, using UAV-derived Normalized Difference Red-Edge (NDRE) to monitor crop performance. NDRE effectively captured the N response and the effect of cover cropping across growth stages, particularly during mid-season (55-81 DAP), where it showed a strong …

Examining Private Landowner And Stakeholder Attitudes, Perceptions, And Knowledge Of Prescribed Fire In Louisiana, Chloe E. Crawford Nov 2025

Examining Private Landowner And Stakeholder Attitudes, Perceptions, And Knowledge Of Prescribed Fire In Louisiana, Chloe E. Crawford

LSU Master's Theses

Periodic fire was a primary driver of ecosystems across the Southeastern United States for millennia; however, fire suppression policies have become pervasive in the United States and led to increased fuel loads in forests as well as reduced biodiversity and reduced disease resilience. Prescribed fire presents a risk mitigation strategy and land management tool whereby practitioners can apply fire to the landscape in a controlled manner, thus reaping the benefits of fire while minimizing the risks associated with fire. Land in Louisiana is primarily privately managed and owned, so state-level conservation goals cannot be met without private landowner participation. As …

Extracranial metastasis of IDH-wildtype glioblastoma is very rare and poorly understood at the molecular level. We report a case of FGFR3::TACC3 fusion IDH-wildtype glioblastoma in a 61-year-old male, whose preoperative blood sample showed highly aberrant cfDNA fragmentation patterns, which could be suggestive of early systemic dissemination, undetected by standard-of-care imaging of his body. Eleven months post-resection and adjuvant therapy, he developed widespread extracranial metastases. Comprehensive molecular profiling of matched primary and metastatic tumors revealed broadly conserved genomic, transcriptomic, and copy number landscapes, with the metastasis harboring an additional ERCC6 deletion and enriched expression of receptor tyrosine kinase signaling genes. These …

Pip2-Driven Cytoplasmic Domain Motions Are Coupled To Kir2 Channel Gating, Eva-Maria Zangerl-Plessl, Anna Stary-Weinzinger, Colin G Nichols, Sun-Joo Lee

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) channel activity is important in the control of membrane potentials in both excitable and non-excitable cells and is regulated through various ligands, including specific membrane lipids. Phosphatidyl-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) is required for activity of all Kir channels, binding to the cytoplasmic domain in a compact conformation tightly tethered to the transmembrane domain. Most Kir2 channel structures determined in complex with PIP2 molecules are nevertheless in a closed state, requiring additional conformational changes for channel opening. We have carried out full atomistic MD simulations, which indicate PIP2-dependent conformational changes that are coupled to opening and closing of the …

Muscle Fatigue Arising Intrinsically From Sur2- But Not Kir6.1-Dependent Gain-Of-Function In Cantu Syndrome Mice, Rosa Scala, Maya Mukadam, Yuezhou Chen, Courtney Frazier, Nathaniel W York, Robert C Tryon, Gretchen A Meyer, Colin G Nichols

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Cantu syndrome (CS) is a rare disease caused by gain-of-function (GOF) mutations of Kir6.1 or SUR2 subunits of ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels. CS patients with SUR2 and Kir6.1 variants display a similar constellation of symptoms, including muscle weakness and fatigue. The effects of CS mutations on skeletal muscle KATP channels, and any consequent direct effects on contractility, are currently unclear. Here, we used two knock-in mouse models of CS, respectively, carrying GOF mutations Kir6.1[V65M] or SUR2[A478V], to assess KATP channel properties and contractility in isolated fast-twitch extensor digitorum longus (EDL) and slow-twitch soleus (SOL) muscles. Electrophysiological recordings in isolated myofibers …
