Libraries frequently rely on variously calculated cost-per-usage (CPU) metrics, but there are other key performance indicators (KPIs) often more strategic for journal collection assessment. These other KPIs can also be more effective for communicating the value of journals. While CPU, in a variety of forms, will probably always be important for evidence-based decision-making, CPU can sometimes obfuscate the real value provided by journal packages and individual journals. We will discuss how CPU can lead to false impressions, especially at the package level. We’ll …

Ethical Considerations Of The Wealth Gap Sentiments In Europe, Joanna Kitsnik Nov 2025

Ethical Considerations Of The Wealth Gap Sentiments In Europe, Joanna Kitsnik

Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei Working Papers

This working paper examines how individuals morally, ethically, and emotionally evaluate extreme wealth disparities in their countries. Using cross-sectional data from the 2019 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) Social Inequality V module, I compare two groups of EU countries with contrasting capital gains tax regimes. Guided by frameworks of moral economies and the capability approach, the analysis investigates how anger toward wealth inequality relates to redistributive preferences, recognition of structural inequalities, and meritocratic beliefs. Preliminary results show that individuals who critically assess existing socioeconomic conditions and acknowledge structural inequalities report stronger resentment toward extreme wealth gaps, whereas stronger meritocratic beliefs …

Special Education Teachers' Experience Implementing Constant Time Delays On Young Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder To Improve Employment Stability, Ayodele Salihu

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often encounter challenges in securing and maintaining employment. With appropriate support, they can gradually develop the functional and social skills necessary to perform job tasks independently, fostering long-term employment and greater autonomy. Achieving independence depends on both the cognitive abilities of individuals with ASD and the instructional strategies educators employ to engage them effectively in the learning process. Constant time delay (CTD) is an evidence-based practice that has demonstrated significant benefits for individuals with ASD in skill acquisition and task mastery. This qualitative study explored the experiences of special education (SPED) teachers in implementing …

Trajectory Analysis Incorporating Non-Response Weights Via A Non-Parametric Feature-Based Approach And A Bayesian Finite Mixture Model Approach, Samia Sultana Nov 2025

Trajectory Analysis Incorporating Non-Response Weights Via A Non-Parametric Feature-Based Approach And A Bayesian Finite Mixture Model Approach, Samia Sultana

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

While conducting longitudinal population-based research, the most insight concerning a phenomenon can be achieved by analyzing the changing patterns of outcomes over time, rather than depending on overall measures that may mask significant within- and between-individual variation. Trajectory analyses address this need by grouping individuals into sub-populations with similar temporal patterns. In population surveys, dropout and wave non-response can distort estimated trajectories and their prevalence. Non-response weights, defined as the inverse probabilities of response, adjust the representation of under-represented individuals and mitigate the impact of over-represented ones, so restoring the population representativeness of the resultant patterns. Nonetheless, conventional trajectory analysis …

Introducing Neuro Sscial Work: A Brief Reflection On Neuroscience And The Profession, Priscila Llamosa Nov 2025

Introducing Neuro Sscial Work: A Brief Reflection On Neuroscience And The Profession, Priscila Llamosa

Social Work Faculty Publications

This reflection introduces and contextualizes the term Neuro Social Work, which I coin to name a specialized practice area at the intersection of social work, neuroscience, and neurodiversity. Drawing on my experience as a social work educator and practitioner, I discuss social work’s uneasy relationship with neuroscience, marked both by the opportunity to deepen our understanding of trauma, development, and healing, and by the risks of using brain‑based evidence to individualize structural harms or justify surveillance of marginalized communities. I outline, in broad strokes, what distinguishes Neuro Social Work from general neuroscience‑informed practice. The note is intended as a concept …

Use Of Calcium Modification In Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Comprehensive Review, Noyan Ramazani, Ala W. Abdallah, Michael V. Dicaro, Divyansh Sharma, Aditi Singh, Kachon Lei

Department of Internal Medicine Faculty Research

Calcified coronary lesions remain a challenge in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in both situations of acute myocardial infarction (MI) and stable coronary syndrome. It significantly increases the risk of procedural complications due to difficulty in equipment delivery, balloon expansion, and stent delivery. Furthermore, stent thrombosis, dissection, perforation, and future in-stent restenosis occur more frequently in calcified coronary lesions, impacting repeat target vessel revascularization and increasing the risk of future MI. With intracoronary imaging (intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography), peri-procedural success for treating calcified lesions has increased significantly. Different modalities of calcium modification techniques have since been introduced. This review …

Quality Improvement Project Assessment Of Emergency Department Staff Knowledge On Use Of Emergency Severity Index In A Critical Access Hospital: Implementation Of Emergency Department-Based Education Program., Amanda Taylor

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

In rural emergency departments, accurate triage is vital to ensuring patient safety and maximizing limited resources. This quality improvement project aimed to strengthen triage practices by enhancing nurses’ understanding and confidence in using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI), a standardized tool for assessing patient acuity. Ten registered nurses at a seven-bed critical access hospital participated in a structured educational program, guided by Lewin’s Change Theory and Benner’s Novice to Expert Theory. The intervention included hands-on training, real-world scenarios, and self-assessment surveys. After the program, nurses showed significant gains in both knowledge (mean scores rose from 70.0 to 88.9, p < .001) and confidence (from 13.5 to 23.2 out of 25). While the small sample size and short timeline were limitations, the results highlight the value of ongoing education in improving triage accuracy and patient care. This project offers a practical model for rural hospitals seeking to enhance emergency nursing practice and promote consistent, evidence-based decision-making.
