Under Academic Pressure: Student Mental Health And The Law, Lorenza Zanaga Jan 2026

Under Academic Pressure: Student Mental Health And The Law, Lorenza Zanaga

Florida Atlantic University Undergraduate Law Journal

Mental health has become a significant concern for students in higher education, particularly in demanding programs such as graduate studies, where long hours, heavy workloads, and intense pressure are common occurrences. As more students face burnout, anxiety, and depression, experts have raised an important question: How can schools better support students’ mental health? What legal responsibility do universities and professional schools have to protect students' mental well-being? This article argues that colleges and professional programs should be legally required to support student mental health, as excessive academic workloads can directly harm students. By examining how academic pressure affects students and …

Trampled Grasslands: The Development Of Human Trafficking Laws In Mongolia, Franco A. Loyola Jan 2026

Trampled Grasslands: The Development Of Human Trafficking Laws In Mongolia, Franco A. Loyola

Florida Atlantic University Undergraduate Law Journal

Changes in Mongolia’s constitutions and criminal codes during the democratic transition in the 1990s not only shaped the nation’s vulnerability to the fourth wave of human trafficking but also produced a legal trajectory that distinguishes Mongolia from its post-Soviet neighbors. The nation is unique as their legal history with anti-trafficking laws dates to the 15th century under the Qing Dynasty. Since independence from Qing rule, provisions against certain elements of human trafficking were preserved in Mongolia’s legal codes up to the modern democratic era; the strongest provisions being found within the old Soviet constitutions. However, upon the collapse of the …

When Parenting Becomes Production: Family Vlogging, Child Labor, And The Law's Silence, Morgan Robinson Jan 2026

When Parenting Becomes Production: Family Vlogging, Child Labor, And The Law's Silence, Morgan Robinson

Florida Atlantic University Undergraduate Law Journal

The rise of family vlogging and the ability to earn revenue from the internet through monetization programs have ushered in a new era of child stars. So-called “kidfluencers” are frequently under the scrutiny of their parents, sponsors, and those watching behind a screen. These child influencers currently lack federal protections that ensure their well-being and safety. Family vlogging has been proven to place a financial, mental, and sometimes, physical burden on children involved. Federal regulations have been encouraged by experts and survivors of child internet exploitation but have not been passed. This paper will examine the impact of family vlogging …

The Future Of Educational Equity In Post-Secondary Education: Student Loan Statutory Reforms Under The Big Beautiful Bill Act, Taylor Myers Jan 2026

The Future Of Educational Equity In Post-Secondary Education: Student Loan Statutory Reforms Under The Big Beautiful Bill Act, Taylor Myers

Florida Atlantic University Undergraduate Law Journal

Significant reforms to federal student loans, as outlined in the Big Beautiful Bill Act, will have a substantial impact on students pursuing secondary education, including loan limits, income-based repayment plans, and the elimination of specific deferment plans. Subsequently, those most affected by these changes will be low-income borrowers, middle-income borrowers, and graduate students. Recent changes to federal higher education loan policies, such as borrowing limits, income-based repayment plans, and elimination of certain deferments, can leave greater economic barriers within education. Although the policy aims to provide debt relief to borrowers, it raises unresolved constitutional questions, particularly regarding the government's responsibility …

Therapist Self-Disclosure And Therapeutic Alliance: A Survey Of Psychologists, Miriam Smith M.S. Jan 2026

Therapist Self-Disclosure And Therapeutic Alliance: A Survey Of Psychologists, Miriam Smith M.S.

Selected Full Text Dissertations, 2011-

Of the various forms of therapist self-disclosure, immediate self-disclosure (ISD) refers to the therapist’s sharing of immediate thoughts, feelings, and reactions with the patient in real time. In previous research, ISD has been positively associated with the therapeutic alliance. The therapeutic alliance has been conceptualized as agreement on goals, agreement on assignment of tasks or a series of tasks to achieve those goals, and the quality of the emotional bond. Non-immediate self-disclosure (NISD) is defined as the therapist divulging personal or biographical information about themselves or their life outside treatment. NISD has been found to be risky and potentially harmful …

Comparative Evaluation Of Deep Learning Models: Resnet18, Minivgg, And Yolov8 For Five-Class Blood Cell Classification, Keita Sakurai Jan 2026

Comparative Evaluation Of Deep Learning Models: Resnet18, Minivgg, And Yolov8 For Five-Class Blood Cell Classification, Keita Sakurai

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

Accurate classification of blood cell types is a critical task in automated hematological analysis. This study presents a comparative evaluation of three deep learning architectures, ResNet18, MiniVGG, and YOLOv8, for five-class blood cell image classification. To ensure a fair comparison, all models were trained under standardized conditions, including a consistent 90:10 training–validation split, controlled dataset size, and fixed training epochs. ResNet18 was trained to establish a baseline using residual learning. MiniVGG employed a compact VGG-inspired design with regularization to balance efficiency and accuracy, while YOLOv8 leveraged a lightweight, pretrained classification backbone with integrated data augmentation. Experimental results demonstrate a clear …

Enhancing Stroke Recovery: A Proposal To Implement Self-Efficacy Strategies In Rehabilitation, Ariana M. Allen, Elliott P. Mcneely Jan 2026

Enhancing Stroke Recovery: A Proposal To Implement Self-Efficacy Strategies In Rehabilitation, Ariana M. Allen, Elliott P. Mcneely

Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects

Self-efficacy is a critical predictor of rehabilitation success in stroke survivors, influencing motivation, therapy adherence, and functional recovery. This study will investigate the current use of structured self-efficacy enhancement programs (SEEPs) by healthcare professionals in post-stroke rehabilitation settings. Guided by Bandura's Self-Efficacy Theory, this proposal outlines a study that will include a comprehensive literature review and suggestions for further research. It will explore the frequency and methods of SEEP use, including goal setting, motivational feedback, and graded task planning. Data would be analyzed through descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings are expected to identify usage patterns, barriers, and opportunities to …
