Engaging Clinical Teams Through Leadership, Workplace Culture, And Job Satisfaction, Garidanielle Matsey
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Current literature does not adequately address the factors that lead to and prevent burnout and poor work performance among inexperienced clinicians and clinical supervisors working in group private practice. Exploring supervision experiences, specifically leadership style, employee engagement, and internal communication, may provide insight into the experiences of novice mental health professionals and their supervisors in addressing burnout and enhancing work performance. Through a qualitative single-case study design informed by interpretative phenomenological principles, data were collected in semistructured interviews with five behavioral health leaders from a two-location group private practice who hold dual roles as clinicians and supervisors. The interview data …
Staff Education Project To Improve Hypertension Medication Adherence In An Underserved Clinic, Margaret Mboe Etukeni
Staff Education Project To Improve Hypertension Medication Adherence In An Underserved Clinic, Margaret Mboe Etukeni
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Hypertension is one of the most common chronic conditions managed in primary care. The identified practice problem for this staff education project was the lack of structured staff training and inconsistent provider knowledge regarding evidence-based strategies to improve medication adherence among patients with hypertension. Poor medication contributes to preventable complications such as stroke, heart failure, and kidney disease. The purpose was to evaluate if an educational intervention could improve provider knowledge related to medication adherence strategies in an underserved clinical setting. The practice question guiding the project was: In clinical staff working in an underserved clinic, does a staff education …

Improving Follow-Up And Continuity Of Care Protocols Through Staff Education In An Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, Bimpe Omobolade Adedo
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In this DNP staff education project, I aimed to solve two main issues which disrupted patient treatment continuity: better documentation and follow-up care practices. The existing gaps in knowledge have led to missing scheduled appointments, missing medical information, and weak communication between hospital staff and clinic staff resulting in disorganized patient care. The main goal of the project was to improve staff understanding of post treatment procedures, maintenance systems, and medical recordkeeping requirements. Ten clinical staff members participated in education. Pre- and post-knowledge assessments were used to evaluate knowledge change. The normalized learning gain formula served to measure the extent …

RAD52 is a conserved member of the homologous recombination repair (HRR) apparatus from yeast to humans. Mutating conserved amino acids in the internal and external DNA binding domains of the human RAD52 protein (HsRAD52) has discrete effects in vitro. Previous studies have shown that HsRAD52 supports multiple mechanisms of HRR in budding yeast, suggesting the utility of this model system for exploring the correspondence between losses of HsRAD52 function in vitro and their impact in vivo. We report that disrupting the internal and external DNA binding domains of HsRAD52 produced distinct effects on the repair of genomic DNA double-strand breaks …

Challenges And Opportunities In Lentivirus Viral Vector Manufacturing For In Vivo Applications, Eduardo Barbieri, Caryn Heldt
Challenges And Opportunities In Lentivirus Viral Vector Manufacturing For In Vivo Applications, Eduardo Barbieri, Caryn Heldt
Michigan Tech Publications
The clinical success of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies has revolutionized oncology, yet the high costs and logistical complexities of ex vivo manufacturing remain significant barriers to global patient access. In vivo cell therapy, which involves the direct injection of lentiviral vectors (LVVs) to engineer cells within the patient’s body, offers a promising, cost-effective alternative. However, transitioning from ex vivo to in vivo applications necessitates a fundamental shift in LVV biomanufacturing to ensure safety and efficacy. This paper examines the critical bottlenecks in the current LVV production landscape. In upstream processing, we explore LVV particle assembly and maturation mechanisms, …

Food and Animal Sciences Faculty Research
The global poultry industry continues to face significant challenges due to Salmonella infections, which pose severe public health concerns and economic losses. Recently, the reemergence of antimicrobial resistance has led to the restriction of antibiotic use in poultry, especially as growth promoters, thus accelerating the search for sustainable alternatives. Among these, probiotics have gained attention as potential candidates for improving poultry health and mitigating Salmonella colonization in the gut. This review summarizes the key mechanisms through which probiotics exert anti-Salmonella effects, including competitive exclusion, production of antimicrobial substances, reinforcement of the intestinal barrier, and modulation of host immune responses. Commonly …

Funding Resilience Or Missing The Mark? An Analysis Of Rrf Allocation And Climate Risk Alignment In Italian Municipalities, Giulio Breglia, Mariagrazia D’Angeli, Giacomo Gazzellone
Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei Working Papers
Natural hazards are an increasing concern, placing disaster preparedness and mitigation at the forefront of policy agendas. In this context, Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) has allocated €3 billion for explicit disaster prevention, with a primary focus on hydrogeological risks such as floods and landslides. This study evaluates the geographical and thematic distribution of resilience-related funding, examining whether financial resources have been effectively targeted toward municipalities with the highest exposure to environmental hazards. Using a clustering classification, we identify substantial disparities in the allocation of resilience funds, revealing that municipalities with relatively low risk levels often receive disproportionately high …

Faculty Research 2026
The poor clinical outcomes of pediatric high-grade glioma (pHGG) highlight the urgent need for new therapies. Oligodendrocyte lineage transcription factor 2 (OLIG2) is a pro-mitotic transcription factor highly expressed in glioma stem cells and may represent a novel therapeutic target. To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of an OLIG2 inhibitor CT-179 in pHGG, we determined the OLIG2 mRNA expression in 10 patient-derived orthotopic xenograft (PDOX) models. In vitro activities of CT-179 were analyzed in monolayer and neurosphere cells (0–10 µM) with and without radiation (XRT) (0–8 Gy), brain penetration was evaluated in tumor-bearing PDOX mice, and in vivo efficacy was determined …

Passed Down Like Prayer: The Burden And Inheritance Of The Superwoman Schema, Keyishi Shante Peters
Passed Down Like Prayer: The Burden And Inheritance Of The Superwoman Schema, Keyishi Shante Peters
Tennessee State University Alumni Theses and Dissertations
This qualitative phenomenological study examined how Black Baby Boomer and Millennial women perceive and internalize the Superwoman Schema (SWS), a cultural expectation emphasizing strength, emotional restraint, and self-sacrifice. Grounded in Black feminist thought, the analysis explored how the SWS is passed down like prayer, quietly inherited, spiritually charged, and embedded in the everyday practices of survival. Four themes emerged: Being Everything to Everybody, Carrying It All Until It Breaks You, We Were Taught Not to Say No, and Learning to Put the Cape Down. Baby Boomers often described the SWS as a necessary legacy forged through historical struggle, while Millennials …

Seeing Beyond The Words: What Interdisciplinary Methodologies Reveal About International Law, Matthew S. Erie, Mark Pollack, Wolfgang Alschner, Beth Simmons, Katerina Linos
Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals
INTRODUCTION: On April 24, 2025, the International Law and Social Science Interest Group debuted at the ASIL Annual Meeting with a panel that posed a deceptively simple question: how can social science tools advance the work of international lawyers? Chaired by Chantal Thomas, the session brought together Matthew Erie, Wolfgang Alschner, Beth Simmons, and Katerina Linos— scholars who bridge doctrinal and empirical inquiry—to show how ethnography, computational text analysis, counterfactual inference, and mixed-method design can illuminate legal puzzles that doctrine alone cannot solve. The four short essays in this symposium provide parallel illustrations of this core theme: Erie’s ethnographic approach …
Understanding Affective Job Satisfaction Among K–12 General Education Teachers: The Roles Of Personality And Job Characteristics, Kailey Thornton
Understanding Affective Job Satisfaction Among K–12 General Education Teachers: The Roles Of Personality And Job Characteristics, Kailey Thornton
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
Understanding predictors of affective job satisfaction among teachers is essential for fostering positive school climates and retaining effective educators. While existing research has identified various predictors of teacher job satisfaction, many studies have not used a comprehensive model that includes both individual and job characteristics. Given the unique nature of the teaching profession, it is often examined separately from other occupations, with a tendency to treat the challenges of teaching as inherent and unchangeable aspects of the role. However, by applying a broader occupational lens, this study aims to view teaching through the same framework used to understand job satisfaction …

Background: Lead (Pb) persists in urban soils, where its partitioning among geochemical fractions governs mobility, bioavailability, and human health risk. These fractions are strongly controlled by soil physicochemical properties, necessitating site-specific remediation strategies. Methods: This study developed a site-specific Pb immobilization framework linking amendment selection to soil geochemistry and sustainability considerations. Pb-contaminated residential soils from three U.S. cities, San Antonio (alkaline), Baltimore (acidic), and Detroit (near-neutral), were treated with gypsum, biochar + lime, and alum, respectively. Changes in Pb speciation were tracked using sequential extraction over 7, 30, and 90 days. Results: All amendments significantly reduced exchangeable Pb (F1) and …

Abstract – Heart failure (HF) is a complex, multifactorial clinical syndrome with diverse etiologies and phenotypic manifestations, affecting millions of people globally. HF is broadly classified into 3 subtypes: HF with reduced ejection fraction, HF with mildly reduced ejection fraction, and HF with preserved ejection fraction. Each subtype exhibits distinct pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical trajectories, and therapeutic responses, posing significant challenges in terms of diagnosis and management. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), a metabolically active visceral fat depot situated in close proximity to the myocardium, plays a dual role in physiological and pathological states, offering potential utility as a biomarker and therapeutic …

Social determinants of health (SDOH) training is a critical component of medical education, equipping physicians to address factors such as economic stability, education, and health care access. Despite its importance, the evaluation of SDOH training often focuses on lower-level outcomes, such as learner satisfaction and knowledge assessment, with limited emphasis on behavioral change and patient outcomes. Kirkpatrick’s model offers a validated framework for addressing this gap by categorizing training outcomes into four levels: Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Results.
By applying Kirkpatrick’s model in combination with Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) quality assessment and bibliometric network analysis, this …
