Educating Mental Health Staff On Standardized Intake Response And Appointment Scheduling Practices, Mercy Itesa Feb 2026

Educating Mental Health Staff On Standardized Intake Response And Appointment Scheduling Practices, Mercy Itesa

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This evidence-based educational project focused on solving two problems at a private mental health clinic: Staff members used different methods to record patient intake information and schedule appointments. The methods staff used to interact with patients resulted in inaccurate documentation and longer response times. The project question was: Does educating staff on standardized intake procedures and appointment scheduling processes lead to better knowledge acquisition, as indicated by pre- and postsurvey results? The analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) instructional design framework and the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Models (JHEBP) were used in this educational project. A Walden University librarian …

Food Security Through Church-Sponsored Food Programs, Samantha Scott Feb 2026

Food Security Through Church-Sponsored Food Programs, Samantha Scott

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

A south-suburban Cook County, IL city lacks grocery stores with high-quality food options, which contributes to food insecurity. Residents often rely on highly processed, low-nutrient foods, contributing to nutritional vulnerability. Friendship Church’s food bank sporadically serves this food desert, but sustaining its operations is challenging. Using community-based participatory action research design and the food security theory, data were collected from 25 semistructured interviews with food bank beneficiaries and church staff/volunteers and analyzed using reflective thematic analysis. The four dimensions were examined: availability, access, utilization, and stability. Two questions guided the research: How do parishioners in one south-suburban Cook County community …

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

To address the problems of insufficient detection accuracy and poor real-time performance caused by small detection objects, complex backgrounds, and large calculation volume in routine highway inspection tasks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), this paper proposed an improved UAV-based routine highway inspection algorithm relying on YOLOv 11n, YOLOv 11-UR. The algorithm incorporated the multi-level channel and attention (MLCA) mechanism into the backbone network to fuse channel and spatial dimension information, integrate local and global receptive fields, and effectively enhance feature expression capability. It achieved a significant improvement in detection accuracy with only a small increase in parameters. In the Neck …

Environmental And Economic Benefits Of Brick Aggregate For Road Applications In Bangladesh, Liu Zhifang, Liu Gang, Xu Jinlong, Zhang Jingbo Feb 2026

Environmental And Economic Benefits Of Brick Aggregate For Road Applications In Bangladesh, Liu Zhifang, Liu Gang, Xu Jinlong, Zhang Jingbo

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

In response to the shortage of stone materials in Bangladesh, which leads to higher costs for road construction due to reliance on imports, this study investigated the significant potential of utilizing brick slag aggregate and recycled aggregate as substitutes for graded gravel. This approach was particularly relevant given the country’s large production of clay-fired bricks and substantial construction waste. Using a life cycle analysis (LCA) method, the study established environmental impact inventories for graded gravel, brick slag aggregate, and recycled aggregate. The BEPAS model was employed to quantitatively analyze the environmental impacts of the two alternative solutions, providing a comprehensive …

Targeting Tau In Alzheimer's Disease: Rationale, Approach And Challenges, Aram Aslanyan, Martha S Foiani, Tatiana A Giovannucci, Eric Mcdade, Karen E Duff, Catherine J Mummery, Michael Schöll, Kristin R Wildsmith, Ross W Paterson

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder and the leading cause of dementia characterised by the accumulation of beta amyloid (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFT). Several monoclonal antibodies against amyloid in early AD have shown the utility of reducing brain amyloid in large phase 3 studies, resulting in modest clinical benefit. To further slow, or even halt disease progression, targeting additional pathobiological pathways is likely to be necessary. In this review, we aim to appraise the scientific rationale for targeting tau in AD. The burden of tau pathology is correlated with disease severity and its role in …

Sclerostin Deficiency Sensitizes White Adipocytes To Thermogenic Signals That Induce Beiging In Mice, Gillian M Choquette, Soohyun P Kim, Kevin J Wilkinson, Belen C Avelar, Sushrut Pathy, Zhu Li, Jasmine Wu, Susan Aja, Daniel L J Thorek, Michael J Wolfgang, Ryan C Riddle

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Maintenance of bone mass is coordinated with adipose tissue function through the secretion of hormones and endocrine factors that act on the opposing tissue. Sclerostin, a small glycoprotein produced by osteocytes embedded within the bone matrix, potently suppresses bone formation by antagonizing Wnt/β-catenin signaling while stimulating adipose tissue accumulation via the same mechanism of action. Since sclerostin-deficient mice develop pockets of multilocular adipocytes in subcutaneous adipose, we investigate the influence of sclerostin on thermogenic and β3-adrenergic stimuli-induced white adipose tissue beiging. Here, we report that Sost gene expression in bone and serum sclerostin levels are induced by β3-adrenergic agonists via …

West Nile virus (WNV) is an endemic arboviral infection in the United States that has undergone phyloge-netic evolution since its introduction 25 years ago. An integrated vector–human–pathogen study was conducted in the summer of 2023 to unearth contemporary Culex quinquefasciatus habitat patterns and human transmission spillover foci in South Carolina, a state with historically little WNV data. A serosurvey revealed WNV seroprevalence 10 times the national average (22% versus 2%, respectively), with unusual epidemiologic risk factors. Female Culex quinquefas-ciatus WNV positivity was low (2.7%), with viral phylogenetics 100% homologous to the WN02 clade. Mosquito vectors clustered in affluent urban neighborhoods …

The search for predictors of plant diversity has challenged scientists for decades. Here we identify intense photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) as a major factor constraining plant species richness in global grasslands. We show that the strength of the negative relationship between species richness and PAR increases with increasing elevation and that species richness is more strongly correlated with intense PAR than with UV-B radiation, climate variables, and atmospheric nitrogen deposition. In addition to species richness, plant biomass was also negatively correlated with PAR at higher elevations, indicating that intense PAR also constrains plant biomass in montane grasslands. Furthermore, we show …
