Polar Reconnaissance & Imagining Survey (Polaris), Max Brooks, Zion Carpenter, Isabel La Coss Feb 2026

Polar Reconnaissance & Imagining Survey (Polaris), Max Brooks, Zion Carpenter, Isabel La Coss

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

In preparation for the permanent human presence on the lunar south pole as part of the ARTEMIS Accords, planned human excursions will conduct science on regions of interest to locate resources for sustained habitation. The objective of the Polar Reconnaissance & Imaging Survey simulation is to take a predetermined region sized image of a planned astronaut excursion site to identify terrain features and threats. This shall be a satellite mission control (MCC) simulation with four Earth-based satellite console operators, and one moon-based EVA encompassing.

Contrasting Coastal Dune Environments In Chile, Aurora Christianson Feb 2026

Contrasting Coastal Dune Environments In Chile, Aurora Christianson

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

Emerging coastalization and urbanization threats to the prehistoric Concón Dunes and Humedal de Mantagua coastal area of Chile is being investigated by researchers via uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS). Four UAS were utilized: Anzu Raptor T, DJI Mavic 3E, DJI Mavic 3M, and DJI Air 3 to collect various images of the coastal dunes. Multispectral and RGB cameras gather images by photogrammetry to create orthomosaics and monitor vegetation indexes in Pix4Dmapper. Thermal cameras provided images in rainbow, white hot infrared, and black hot infrared schemes to monitor wildlife and vegetation. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) was calculated to visualize overall …

Resiliency Training In Collegiate Pilots, Revati Dodani Feb 2026

Resiliency Training In Collegiate Pilots, Revati Dodani

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

This ongoing longitudinal study in a quasi-experimental design addresses the growing need for mental health (MH) support and awareness in aviation, especially for Part 141 collegiate pilots, considering incidents like the Germanwings Flight 9525 tragedy. The study evaluates a five-day Mental Wellness workshop, which is integrated into a Flight Safety course that focuses on building resilience, managing stress, regulating emotions, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, and stigma reduction. Using a one-group pretest-posttest design, participants complete the Predictive 6-Factor Resilience Scale (PR6-50) before and after the workshop, along with demographic questions. Quantitative analysis is conducted using SPSS® with a paired t-test to …

The Physiological And Psychological Benefits Of Inspiratory Muscle Training Across Clinical Populations: A Meta-Analysis, Sabrina Ehrenfort Feb 2026

The Physiological And Psychological Benefits Of Inspiratory Muscle Training Across Clinical Populations: A Meta-Analysis, Sabrina Ehrenfort

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) is an established intervention to enhance respiratory strength, yet its broader effects on psychological outcomes across diverse clinical populations remains unclear. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the overall efficacy of IMT physical performance and psychological well-being, as well as influences of disease type and intervention duration. Clinical populations include pulmonary, cardiovascular, neurological, and other categories. A systematic search was conducted across several electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Sixty-one randomized controlled trials met inclusion criteria, including clinical populations with interventions lasting at least six weeks. Data compared across the trials included Maximal Inspiratory …

Psychological And Physiological Effects Of Inspiratory Muscle Training In Young Healthy Adults, Sabrina Ehrenfort Feb 2026

Psychological And Physiological Effects Of Inspiratory Muscle Training In Young Healthy Adults, Sabrina Ehrenfort

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) has been shown to improve respiratory strength, exercise performance, and overall endurance, particularly in clinical or athletic populations (Ferguson et al., 2022 ). Limited research has explored how IMT influences psychological factors, such as perceived stress, fatigue, sleep quality, and anxiety. Significant outcomes were observed in quality of life, fatigue, and anxiety and depression to majority in clinical (Aslan et al., 2020). This study will investigate the psychological and physiological effects of a 30-day inspiratory muscle training intervention in young healthy adults. Twenty participants were randomly assigned to either an IMT group (n = 10) or …

Effects Of Respiratory Muscle Training On Exercise Performance In Young Healthy Adults, Sabrina Ehrenfort Feb 2026

Effects Of Respiratory Muscle Training On Exercise Performance In Young Healthy Adults, Sabrina Ehrenfort

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

This study will test the hypothesis that six weeks of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) will increase diaphragm muscle thickness, power, and aerobic exercise performance. Utilizing the K5 PowerBreathe device for IMT, participants will complete a six-week training protocol to assess its impact on peak inspiratory pressure (S-Index) and endurance exercise performance (VO2max). Pre- and post-intervention measurements will include diaphragm thickness assessed via ultrasound, S-Index, peak inspiratory flow (PIF), maximal cycling power output, and VO2 max. VO2 max and maximal cycling power will be determined through a step-ramp-step bike test utilizing pulmonary gas exchange measurements. This investigation explores how IMT influences …

I Don’T Remember: Measuring The Frequency And Impact Of Source Recall In Misinformation Correction, Emily K. Vraga, Leticia Bode Feb 2026

I Don’T Remember: Measuring The Frequency And Impact Of Source Recall In Misinformation Correction, Emily K. Vraga, Leticia Bode

Newhouse Impact Journal

It is broadly established that source cues matter for establishing information credibility (Pornpitakpan, 2004). Therefore, it is hardly surprising that when thinking about methods to address and correct misinformation, many scholars have pointed to the importance of source cues (Cook et al., 2017; Lewandowsky & van der Linden, 2021; Literat et al., 2021; Shen et al., 2019). But this research is plagued by inconsistent findings about which kinds of sources tend to be the most effective correctors (e.g., Berinsky, 2023; van der Meer & Jin, 2020; Vraga & Bode, 2017). We argue that research has not adequately accounted for recall …

Face And Content Validation Analysis Of The Professional Pain Preparation Questionnaire For Use In Physical Therapist Education, Rodiel Kirby Baloy

Journal of Innovation in Health Sciences Education

Introduction: Physical therapy educational preparation for the management of individuals in pain may be determined based on the themes of: (1) level of academic preparation, (2) educational hours spent studying pain, including postgraduate training and certification, and (3) clinical experience. This study assessed the face and content validity of a tool, the Professional Pain Preparation Questionnaire (PPP-Q), to assess expert perception as to the value and relevance of each of the identified domains.

Methods: Twelve respondents were enlisted for face validity, and five experts were recruited for content validity. Descriptive statistics, specifically frequency and percentage, were used to describe …
