Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental condition associated with impairments across educational, occupational, and social domains. Individuals with ADHD are often exposed to misunderstanding and negative evaluation, which can contribute to stigma and psychological distress. Recently, “masking”—efforts to conceal or compensate for ADHD-related characteristics to meet social expectations—has been discussed as a potential behavioral response to stigma, yet empirical research on this phenomenon remains limited. This narrative review synthesizes English-language research on public stigma and self-stigma related to ADHD and examines how stigma may be associated with masking behaviors in ADHD, drawing on conceptual insights from the literature on …

Perioperative Anxiety And Emergence Delirium In Veterans With Ptsd, Hallie H. Glassco, Nancy Westbrook
Group: Samford University Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing
Veterans are at higher risk for emergence delirium and emergence agitation due to the high rates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Trauma-informed care (TIC) involves recognizing the widespread impact of trauma, the signs and symptoms, and integrating this awareness into all aspects of the patient's care to promote safety and patient empowerment while avoiding re-traumatization. The case presented here generated the following clinical question: In veterans with PTSD undergoing general anesthesia, does a trauma-informed anesthetic approach that includes midazolam, dexmedetomidine, and patient-directed adjustments reduce the incidence of perioperative anxiety and emergence agitation/delirium compared to standard anesthetic practices? The case involved …

Gender Norms, Socio-Organizational Ergonomics, And Female Labor Force Participation In South Asia, Huma Maqsood, Nor Fatimah Che Sulaiman, Suriyani Muhamad, Nor Aizal Akmal Binti Rohaizad, Sana Mukhtar
The Qualitative Report
Socio-organizational ergonomics encompasses workplace social and cultural factors that influence inclusion, performance, and well-being. Gender-based socio-organizational ergonomics has both microeconomic and macroeconomic implications. In this context, underutilization of women’s economic potential, evidenced by low female labor force participation, emerges as a critical factor that compromises sustainable growth in developing countries. To study the phenomenon, we examined the impact of gender norms on socio-organizational ergonomics and female labor force participation in South Asia. Qualitative data from in-depth interviews with 20 female participants are thematically analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s TA framework. Our findings highlight that socio-organizational ergonomics in South Asia is …

Comparative Assessment Of Growth And Morphometric Characteristics In Naked Neck, Rhode Island Red, And Black Australorp Chickens, Naseer Ahmad, Sarzamin Khan, Rafi Ullah, Kamran Khan
Journal of Bioresource Management
This study investigated growth performance and morphometric characteristics in three chicken genotypes namely Naked Neck (NN), Rhode Island Red (RIR), and Black Australorp (BAL). One-hundred and eighty chicks (age, day-old), comprising 60 birds from each genotype, were distributed randomly into three replicates per group, with 20 chicks per replicate, under a completely randomized design. Birds were reared on deep litter for 18 weeks. Hatch weights were significantly higher (P < 0.05) in BAL (30.7 g) and RIR (30.2 g) compared to NN (28.2 g). Body weights showed no significant differences (P > 0.05) from weeks 2 to 4, but BAL and RIR outperformed NN (P < 0.05) from weeks 6 to 10. BAL maintained the highest body weight from weeks 12 to 18 (P < 0.05). Total weight gain (0-18 weeks) was significantly greater in BAL (1567 g), followed by RIR (1491 g) and NN (1219 g). The genotypes had significant effects on both feed intake and feed conversion ratio (FCR; P < 0.05). At 18 weeks of age, FCR was most efficient in BAL (3.53), followed by RIR (3.83), and NN (4.85). Mortality between weeks 4 and 18 was lowest in NN at 1.7 %, compared with 1.81 % in RIR and 1.84 % in BAL. Significant differences (P < 0.05) among genotypes were also observed in morphometric characters such as shank length, keel length, and breast circumference, with BAL generally showing larger measurements. In conclusion, BAL exhibited superior growth, feed efficiency, and morphometric characteristics, while NN demonstrated lower weight gain but better survivability, highlighting genotype-specific advantages for different production goals.

Effect Of Transition And Fast-Break Training On Fatigue Delay, Blood Lactate Levels, And Offensive Skill Performance In Young Basketball Players, Omar Mohammed Majid Saud
Effect Of Transition And Fast-Break Training On Fatigue Delay, Blood Lactate Levels, And Offensive Skill Performance In Young Basketball Players, Omar Mohammed Majid Saud
Modern Sport
Basketball is defined as a high intensity sport which significantly depends on an anaerobic energy system, specifically its phosphagen and lactate components, especially during very fast transitions from the offensive phase to defensive failure and vice versa. These scenarios involve continuous accelerations/decelerations coupled with accurate actions under time constraints. The relevance of these requests is even higher for under-18 players, as they are at a special stage (against the above-mentioned physical and physiological development) directly affecting the capacity to resist fatigue and keep performance levels in the 2nd half during competition. This accumulation of lactic acid leads to an erosion …

Bilateral Vocal Process Avulsion: A Rare Complication Of Laryngeal Trauma., Hye Rhee Chi, Omar Ramadan, Robert T Sataloff
Otolaryngology (ENT) Resident Research
Vocal process avulsion is a rare and often overlooked complication of laryngeal trauma, most commonly associated with endotracheal intubation. It involves detachment of the vocal process from the body of the arytenoid cartilage, leading to dysphonia, dysphagia, voice fatigue, and/or aspiration. While strobovideolaryngoscopy and laryngeal electromyography may suggest underlying structural disruption, diagnosis can be challenging when findings are subtle or imaging is inconclusive. Definitive diagnosis and management typically involves surgical evaluation and repair to restore vocal fold tension and glottic competence. We present the first documented case of bilateral vocal process avulsion following endotracheal intubation.

Journal of Bioresource Management
Goats play an essential role in sustaining rural communities in Pakistan by providing milk, meat, and income under diverse production systems. This study compared the morphometric features of exotic Saanen goats with local breeds (Beetal, Kaghani, Gaddi, and non-descriptive) in Swat, northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to evaluate growth patterns, body structure, and the potential for body weight estimation. A total of 500 animals were sampled from research stations and smallholder farms, with morphometric and qualitative traits recorded following FAO guidelines. Distinct differences among breeds were observed. Beetal goats exhibited the highest body weight (58.2 ± 2.0 kg), chest girth, and body …

Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
Smoking constitutes a significant issue in Indonesia, particularly among low-income forest farmers. Cigarettes are the second-highest household expenditure after rice, potentially comprising almost 40% of total annual income. In 2022, the prevalence of smokers aged 15 years and older was recorded at 28.26%, with West Nusa Tenggara ranking second (26.59%). This situation exacerbates poverty and reduces the quality of human resources. The study was conducted in 2023 in Ciamis Regency, Tasikmalaya (West Java), and Sumbawa (West Nusa Tenggara), areas with high cigarette consumption. The aim was to analyze the influence of demographic factors (income, age, and education) on smoking behavior …

Background: Many adults fail to achieve guideline-directed low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goals on statin monotherapy, requiring additional nonstatin lipid-lowering medication. Enlicitide, an oral proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor, lowered LDL-C by 60% compared with placebo; its efficacy compared with other oral nonstatin therapies has yet to be examined.
Objectives: This study assessed the efficacy of enlicitide, a novel oral PCSK9 inhibitor, vs other oral nonstatin therapies.
Methods: In this phase 3, randomized, double-blind, active-comparator trial, statin-treated adults aged ≥18 years with LDL-C ≥55 mg/dL and a previous major atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) event, or LDL-C ≥70 mg/dL if at …
