Adsorption Of Eriochrome Black-T Dye By Batch Investigations Using Waste Tea@Fe Nps As Low-Cost Adsorbent, Rehana B. Mampilly, Sandip H. Bhatt, Niral J. Modi, Amanullakhan Pathan

International Journal of Thin Film Science and Technology

This work has examined the efficaciousness of iron nanoparticles made from tea waste extract in the elimination of Eriochrome black T (EBT) dye. Field emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM) with EDAX, High- resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and FTIR spectroscopy were used to evaluate the synthesized iron capped nanoparticles. Iron nanoparticles seemed amorphous, according to the X-ray diffraction patterns. The spherical form of the Fe NPs was discernibly shown by scanning electron microscopy. Particle size of Fe NPs is found to be in the 30–40 nm range using transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). Additionally, research was done …

International Journal of Thin Film Science and Technology

This study was conducted to determine the effect of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) on vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS). Thirty sexually active women suffering from vaginal laxity aged 30-45 years participated in this study. Vaginal laxity is often overlooked and underreported, yet it significantly impacts sexual functioning, self-image, and overall quality of life (QoL) in women. These women were randomly assigned to two groups: control group (15 women) received pelvic floor exercises daily for 8 weeks and study group (15 women) received the same exercises daily for 8 weeks plus 2 sessions of HIFU with 4 weeks apart. Evaluation was done …

A Haven For Traffickers: How The United States Provides A Legal Safe Haven For Businesses That Rely On Forced Labor In The International Supply Chain, Ramona Lampley

Pepperdine Law Review

Congress enacted the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (“TVPRA” or “Act”) in 2000, which, through its amendments, gives victims of human trafficking, including forced labor or slave labor, a private right of action against those who knowingly benefit from the abusive labor practices perpetrated on them. Even though slave labor, particularly child labor, is a perceived evil in the foreign supply chains of many domestic companies, courts appear uncomfortable with the some of the civil liability provisions of the TVPRA. This Article examines recent cases brought under the TVPRA, and how, in some cases, courts have eviscerated the private right of …

Judicial Fidelity, Caprice L. Roberts Jan 2024

Judicial Fidelity, Caprice L. Roberts

Pepperdine Law Review

Judicial critics abound. Some say the rule of law is dead across all three branches of government. Four are dead if you count the media as the fourth estate. All are in trouble, even if one approves of each branch’s headlines, but none of them are dead. Not yet. Pundits and scholars see the latest term of the Supreme Court as clear evidence of partisan politics and unbridled power. They decry an upheaval of laws and norms demonstrating the dire situation across the federal judiciary. Democracy is not dead even when the Court issues opinions that overturn precedent, upends long-standing …

International Journal of Thin Film Science and Technology

The conventional method uses the stoichiometric mixture of metallic oxides to synthesize polycrystalline SrTiO3. The SrTiO3 was prepared by spin coating to fabricate Metal-Insulator-Matel (MIM) aluminum-SrTiO3 film-aluminum. The cubic structure of the prepared thin film of SrTiO3 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Strontium Titanate was deposited on silicon substrates. Studying the effect of the film thickness on the structural and electrical properties. The surface morphology of deposited thin films was studied using a scanning electron microscope. Electrical properties for SrTiO3 films at constant frequency were measured. The electrical conductivity decreases with increasing thickness. The behavior of (capacitance- Frequency) at …

How Technology Affordances Of Sharing Economy Platforms Influence Cultural Distance And The Affective Commitment Of Immigrants At The Base Of The Pyramid, Jie Yan, Saman Bina, Yasamin Hadavi, Robin Wakefield

Hunt Institute Working Paper Series

Within the immigrant population, there is a sub-group at the Base of the Pyramid (BoP). Compared to others, BoP immigrants receive lower incomes, have weaker informal networks, and face greater resource constraints. As more and more BoP immigrants participate in the sharing economy, we suggest that the use of sharing economy platforms by BoP immigrants would have a significant impact on their integration into a new country because it would influence cultural distance and affective commitment in multiple ways. Hence, in the present study, we seek to explore the relationships among the technology affordance of sharing economy platforms, the cultural …

Warmth Of The Welcome: Immigration And Local Housing Returns, Xun Bian, N. Edward Coulson, Xiaojin Sun

Hunt Institute Working Paper Series

We study the effect of immigration on home values in the U.S. Applying a county-level instrument for immigration, we find that immigration increases local house price appreciation and decreases its within-county spatial dispersion. Our estimates suggest that, on average, a one percentage point in- crease in the immigrant share of the local population raises house price appreciation by approximately 7 percent and reduces the dispersion of housing return within a county by about 1.5 percentage points. We also show that such effects are strikingly heterogeneous across counties and appear to be deter- mined by local culture. Using several proxies for …
