Economic Effects Of Pandemic On Us And Indian Economies With Policy Actions In 2019-2023: A Comparative Analysis, Kishore Kukarni Dr., Amitabh S. Dutta
International Review of Business and Economics
COVID 19 pandemic that started in February/March 2019, with happenings in Yuwan, China spread like a wildfire all over the world. All countries faced one of the worst economic challenges in recent centuries if not ever in the history of the mankind. Early predications were so severe and devastating that some forecasters predicted a death-toll of 100 million all over the world, as the virus was not only spreading fast but also had no solution for its serious fatal effects. It was evident that the patients were dying before getting any effective treatments and many of them were elderly individuals. …

Michigan Tech Publications
BACKGROUND: Acute ischemic stroke complicates 2 % to 3 % of transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVRs). This study aimed to identify the aortic anatomic correlates in patients after TAVR stroke. METHODS AND RESULTS: This is a single-center, retrospective study of patients who underwent TAVR at the Mayo Clinic between 2012 and 2022. The aortic arch morphology was determined via a manual review of the pre-TAVR computed tomography images. An "a priori" approach was used to select the covariates for the following: (1) the logistic regression model assessing the association between a bovine arch and periprocedural stroke (defined as stroke within …

Anomaly Detection On Small Wind Turbine Blades Using Deep Learning Algorithms, Bridger Altice, Edwin Nazario, Mason Davis, Mohammad Shekaramiz, Todd K. Moon, Mohammad A. S. Masoum
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications
Wind turbine blade maintenance is expensive, dangerous, time-consuming, and prone to misdiagnosis. A potential solution to aid preventative maintenance is using deep learning and drones for inspection and early fault detection. In this research, five base deep learning architectures are investigated for anomaly detection on wind turbine blades, including Xception, Resnet-50, AlexNet, and VGG-19, along with a custom convolutional neural network. For further analysis, transfer learning approaches were also proposed and developed, utilizing these architectures as the feature extraction layers. In order to investigate model performance, a new dataset containing 6000 RGB images was created, making use of indoor and …

Leadership Development Strategies For Sustaining Organization Performance Through The Upper Echelon Theory, Marjorie Mccants
Leadership Development Strategies For Sustaining Organization Performance Through The Upper Echelon Theory, Marjorie Mccants
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Organizational leaders within the Department of the Army in the Military District of Washington frequently experience turnover that necessitates a new leader's transition into a position. These new leaders sometimes experience challenges in successfully transitioning into the organization to maintain the continuity of operations. Grounded in the upper echelon theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore strategies senior leaders use to transition new subordinate leaders into their organization successfully. The participants included eight military and civilian leaders with more than eight years of knowledge and experience in employing effective strategies for developing midlevel managers. Data were …

High School Principals’ Perspectives Of Job Stressors That Influence Job Satisfaction, Lonice Priester
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The role of the school principal has become increasingly stressful and the problem is that school principals in a large school district in Maryland experience multiple job stressors that are contributing to low job satisfaction. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore high school principals’ perspectives of stressors that affect their job satisfaction as well as what support systems they believe are necessary to increase their job satisfaction. An additional purpose was to identify methods that could be used to reduce such stress. Herzberg’s theory of motivation, which outlines how job factors motivate workgroups, was used to …

Predictive Modeling And Cryo-Em: A Synergistic Approach To Modeling Macromolecular Structure, Michael R Corum, Harikanth Venkannagari, Corey F Hryc, Matthew L Baker
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Over the last 15 years, structural biology has seen unprecedented development and improvement in two areas: electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM) and predictive modeling. Once relegated to low resolutions, single-particle cryo-EM is now capable of achieving near-atomic resolutions of a wide variety of macromolecular complexes. Ushered in by AlphaFold, machine learning has powered the current generation of predictive modeling tools, which can accurately and reliably predict models for proteins and some complexes directly from the sequence alone. Although they offer new opportunities individually, there is an inherent synergy between these techniques, allowing for the construction of large, complex macromolecular models. Here, we …

While nursing leadership courses proliferate, there is no globally agreed competency framework. A team led by Sigma with funding support from the Johnson & Johnson Foundation has created a global leadership competency framework, based on evidence. This presentation will describe the framework and next steps.
Latine Dual Language Bilingual Education Teachers' Work Experiences, Nelly Noemi Patiño Cabrera
Latine Dual Language Bilingual Education Teachers' Work Experiences, Nelly Noemi Patiño Cabrera
Dissertations and Theses
Given the increasing concern about the scarcity of Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) teachers, it is crucial to understand the trends in teacher retention and attrition from the perspective of DLBE teachers themselves. DLBE teachers departing from their jobs imposes a significant burden on schools and students and affects the implementation of DLBE programs. To delve into this issue, this critical qualitative study focused on the work experiences of Latine K-5 Spanish/English DLBE teachers. Specifically, this study involved six participants divided into two groups of DLBE teachers in the teaching trajectory: three Latine K-5 Spanish/English DLBE teachers currently teaching in …
