Investigations Of The Eutectic Formation And Skin Rejuvenation By Hyaluronan - Kojic Acid Dipalmitate System, Syed Waqar Hussain Shah, Sumbal Imran, Iram Bibi, Kashif Ali, Nadia Bashir
Karbala International Journal of Modern Science
Eutectic phenomenon has been investigated in binary system based on biopolymer hyaluronan (HN) and kojic acid dipalmitate (KAD). Solid-liquid phase diagram showed a significant dependence of melting points on weight fraction of KAD up to KAD < 0.5. A negligible regain to melting temperature of pure KAD occurred later. Simulations of molecular mechanics using a four-unit segment of HN and KAD revealed the interaction between carbonyl of KAD with 4-OH on N-acetylglucosamine unit of oligomer. Infrared vibrational spectroscopy also endorsed the existence of a weakly interacting system. Such behavior was expected due to steric hinderance and rigidity of biopolymer. The thermal decomposition temperature of HN (i.e., 215 °C) was increased to 322 °C in HK50 having HN and KAD in 1:50 w/w. Bioelectric impedance analysis revealed that these green materials could promote skin health in humans.

On Achieving Strategic Fit For Suvidha Sanitary Napkins Distributed Under Pradhan Mantri Janaushadhi Program In India, Priyank Sinha, Romi Sainy, Chandra Prakash Garg
Management Dynamics
In this research paper, we discuss the transformation of India's menstrual hygiene product (MHP) market and the challenges faced in achieving a strategic fit for the Suvidha scheme within the Pradhan Mantri JanAushadhi program. The paper analyzes the misalignment in marketing and supply chain strategies with respect to the overall competitive strategy, and proposes optimal strategies for different consumer segments. It draws insights from Roger's diffusion model to target various adopter categories effectively. The paper emphasizes the need for continuous assessment, collaboration with stakeholders, and adaptation to ensure the scheme's success in providing affordable and eco-friendly sanitary napkins.
Surprised By Similarity: C.S. Lewis And Thomas Merton On The Self, John M. Gillespie
Surprised By Similarity: C.S. Lewis And Thomas Merton On The Self, John M. Gillespie
Sehnsucht: The C. S. Lewis Journal
Although they never corresponded, and they never met, the Anglican professor C.S. Lewis and the Trappist monk Thomas Merton nevertheless wrote in strikingly similar terms of the “true self,” or a person redeemed by Christ, and a “false self,” the rebellious person one believes themselves to be, but is not. There is very little academic work on the confluence of Lewis and Merton, and none thus far that specifically addresses their shared concept of the self. The aim of this paper is to address this gap in scholarship and, through an intertextual investigation of each man’s major works, fill it. …

Invasive Annual Grass Issues In Canadian Rangelands, V. Maloney
Invasive Annual Grass Issues In Canadian Rangelands, V. Maloney
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
It has been understood for several years now that Canadian grasslands are among the world’s most endangered ecosystems. While the endangerment of the world’s coral reefs and rainforests may make the news more often, the increasingly fast decline of native Canadian grasslands is having a major impact on species diversity as well as global carbon supplies. In this paper, I will discuss the impact invasive annual grasses have had on two important rangeland ecosystems in Canada. Furthermore, strategies for protecting and restoring these invaluable lands will be discussed.

Tennessee Master Beef Producer Program Promotes Sustainable Beef Production, K. M. Mason, G. E. Bates, J. D. Rhinehart
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Tennessee is home to 1.75 million beef cattle as of January 2022 (USDA, 2022). The majority of cattle farms in Tennessee are cow-calf operations, with a few stocker-backgrounder operations across the state. Most of the cows in the state are maintained on tall fescue (Schedonorus arundinaceus (Schreb.) Dumort. pastures, with hay being fed in the winter months and sometimes during the summer. Maintenance of a strong cow herd and sufficient grazing land relies on utilization of sustainable production practices. With urban sprawl creating competition for land area, it is important to use production practices that are efficient and attainable …
Soil Carbon Monitoring Program For Ranches In Dryland Ecosystems, David E. Prado-Tarango, S. Ates, J. Talbot
Soil Carbon Monitoring Program For Ranches In Dryland Ecosystems, David E. Prado-Tarango, S. Ates, J. Talbot
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Implementation of ranching practices that lead to greater soil carbon sequestration has become increasingly important due to rising atmospheric CO2 levels. Sustainable ranching practices are suggested to improve soil health and sequester more carbon in the soil. However, there is a paucity of measured data from replicated on-farm studies to support this premise. Thus, we developed a soil carbon monitoring program for a ranch located in the state of Oregon. Our monitoring program is focused on measuring the net carbon budget and the soil carbon sequestration totals. To achieve this goal, we combined field-sampling data with the COMET-Farm model. A …
Legumes As A Biological Tool To Address The Sustainability Of Ruminant Production Systems, H. Sheridan, M. B. Lynch
Legumes As A Biological Tool To Address The Sustainability Of Ruminant Production Systems, H. Sheridan, M. B. Lynch
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Growing public concern regarding accelerated rates of climate change, the depletion and degradation of natural resources such as biodiversity water and soils, coupled with policy commitments to address these challenges, are placing increasing pressures to enhance sustainability metrics associated with agriculture in general, and ruminant production systems in particular. At EU and indeed global scale, there has probably never before been so many potentially conflicting challenges for agriculture. On one hand, agricultural systems need to produce more, to feed the increasing global human population, while at the same time being much less reliant on economically and environmentally costly chemical inputs …
Efficacy Of Suture Versus Sutureless Technique After Periodontal Flap Surgery – A Split Mouth Study, Saranya M
Efficacy Of Suture Versus Sutureless Technique After Periodontal Flap Surgery – A Split Mouth Study, Saranya M
Annual Research Symposium
Suturing is an integral part of periodontal flap surgery, but it has disadvantages such as difficulty in maintaining oral hygiene, increased post-operative discomfort, and higher infection rate. To overcome these problems, a search for an alternative like tissue adhesives, possibly a sutureless technique has been experimented. The aim of the study was to compare the stability & healing properties after periodontal flap surgery using tissue adhesive and surgical sutures.

Contribution Of Mine Water And Uranium Ore Rocks To The 222rn-Induced Radiation Dose Received By The Mine Workers In A Low-Ore Grade Underground Uranium Mine, India, Imran Athar Beg, Patitapaban Sahu
Journal of Sustainable Mining
More than 50% of the radiation dose received by underground mine workers is mainly due to the inhalation of radon (222Rn) gas and its decay products in an underground mine working space. Monitoring and controlling of 222Rn exhalation in the underground mine working plays a vital role in minimizing the radiation risk hazards to the mine-workers. This study discusses the contribution of mine water and uranium ore to 222Rn activity concentration in mine air and its health risk assessment. The annual effective radiation dose (ERn) due to inhalation of 222Rn for mine workers is estimated 0.10 mSv/y. Furthermore, the estimated …

Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that are accompanied by negative health outcomes, high mortality rates, impaired functioning, and comorbid mental health conditions. Despite many empirically supported interventions for eating disorders, it remains one of the most challenging mental disorders to treat, as individuals often struggle to maintain treatment gains. One method of improving our understanding of effective eating disorder treatment is to identify important processes of change to target during therapy. The aim of the current study was to test two candidate mediators of disordered eating symptom change during residential treatment: self-compassion and body image inflexibility. In the …
Open Strategy For Social Impact: An Action Research Study Of A Multistakeholder Open Strategy Planning Process, Jo Pang
Dissertations
As social and environmental challenges become increasingly dire, organizations are focusing on creating positive social impacts beyond generating profits. Traditional strategic planning tools were originally created for the purposes of profit maximization and are not sufficient for organizations with the aim of addressing complex social issues. Open strategy offers a promising alternative by increasing multistakeholder involvement in the formulation of organizational strategy. Existing research has supported the idea that multistakeholder collaboration is an effective means for creating positive social impact since societal challenges are too complex for any one organization to sufficiently address. Despite these promises, there are risks and …
