Translated by:

At the Abbey of Saint Denis-en-France, the Benedictine monk and chronicler Guillaume de Nangis (d. 1300) wrote a Latin World Chronicle from Creation to AD 1300. The text contains an account of the reign of King Arthur of Britain that includes the celebrated Sword in the Stone Episode. This iconic scene was not traditionally part of the ‘historical’ account of King Arthur’s biography. The pseudo-historical Brut chronicle story of King Arthur, which originates with Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia regum Britanniae [History of the Kings of Britain] (c. 1136), has Arthur, aged …

PCI Publications and Projects
Background and Aims
Achalasia is an esophageal motility disorder characterized by the inability of the lower esophageal sphincter to relax. Endoscopic methods are currently the mainstay treatment of achalasia and include local administration of botulinum toxin (Botox; Allergan Aesthetics, Westport, County Mayo, Ireland), pneumatic dilation, and peroral endoscopic myotomy. Botox injections traditionally have been performed by standard endoscopy, which lacks precision requiring frequent interventions. Our study introduces a novel technique using endoscopic ultrasound—guided fine-needle injection of Botox combined with controlled radial expansion balloon dilation (EUS-BTID) for treating achalasia. We hypothesize that this combined approach will enhance the efficacy and offer …Simulated Science: Clinical Microbiology Lessons With Operation Outbreak, Melissa Poua

Open Educational Resources
This resource includes suggested teaching materials, posters and other visual aids, and two worksheets in epidemiology and virology, respectively. The target audience for this resource is healthcare majors in clinical microbiology courses. The laboratory activities are adapted to work with a free hands-on teaching phone application (Operation Outbreak) that models an outbreak in real-time, allowing the students to explore interventions and mitigation strategies.

JADARA
Using grounded theory analysis, the current study identifies the perspectives of therapists and counselors regarding the nature of informal and formal resources supporting the treatment of deaf individuals with trauma. Nineteen counselors and therapists were interviewed, and accessibility, formal support, informal networks, and gaps in resources were identified as salient themes. Subsequent analysis identified concerns with confidentiality as a strong theme. This study emphasizes the need for counselors and therapists to become mindful of utilizing resources to support the treatment of trauma while being concerned with confidentiality.

Prevention and Community Health Faculty Publications
Background
A 2006 avian influenza (AI) outbreak resulted in mass removal of chickens in Lower Egypt, which decreased the household supply of poultry. Poultry, a key animal-source food, contains nutrients critical for child growth. This paper examines determinants of stunting between 2006 and 2008 in children 6 to 59 months of age within the context of the AI outbreak.
Methods
The 2005 and 2008 nationally representative Egypt Demographic and Health Surveys (EDHS) were used to analyse anthropometric data from 7,794 children in 2005 and 6,091 children in 2008. Children, 6–59 months of age, with length for age Z-score < −2 S.D. were categorized as stunted. Predictors of stunting were examined by bivariate and multivariable analyses, focusing on Lower Egypt, where a rise in stunting occurred, and Upper Egypt, where stunting declined.
