Women's Perspectives On Public Transportation In Jakarta, Indonesia – Reliability And Service Quality Insights, Yong Adilah Shamsul Harumain, Lita Sari Barus, Nurfatin Fauzi

Journal of Strategic and Global Studies

The provision of public transport is of utmost importance in effectively addressing the needs of women residing in developing nations. Nevertheless, it has been noted that the issue of gender-sensitive public transport lacks substantial consideration in the majority of developing nations worldwide. Universal designs are recognised internationally for their rational and economically efficient characteristics, as they accommodate the needs and preferences of not only women but also other individuals who require or desire access to public transportation. Within the realm of public transport, a controversial topic has emerged regarding the introduction of specialised or unique services. The present debate has …

The security dilemma, a fundamental concept in international relations, describes how the defensive actions of one state can provoke perceptions of threat among others, potentially leading to an arms race. By analyzing military spending data from 2019 to 2023 for key European countries including Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Azerbaijan, Russia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of GDP, this study highlights how nations closest to the conflict, …

Knowledge And Attitudes Toward Baby-Led Weaning In Primary Care, Taylor Schreiner

DNP Projects

Objective

Adequate nutrition is critical for an infant’s growth and development. Around the age of six months, most infants can begin the process of being introduced to table foods. The debate is about what method is safest for the infant, spoon-led feeding or baby-led weaning (BLW).

Methods

This project explored the beliefs, attitudes, and knowledge of both parents of infants and primary care providers (PCP) on baby-led weaning. Data were obtained through the use of pre-and post-surveys following the implementation of specific education for parents and PCPs.

Results

The findings from parents who participated would suggest that most parents who …

Stricken By The Worst Type Of Sickness: The Communal Reaction And Response To Impaired Individuals In The Middle Ages, Alice Holland

Dissertations and Theses

Medieval communities often approached trouble within the fold collectively. This includes concerns over the health and safety of their individual members. This thesis examines the communal perception and treatment of disabled individuals in the Middle Ages. Using four twelfth-century miracle collections, The Miracles of Saint Gibrian (1145), The Life and Miracles of William of Norwich (1150-1172), The Miracles of Our Lady of Rocamadour (1172-1173), and The Miracles of Thomas Becket (1173-1179), I examine how communities created systems of care for their impaired members. In using these sources, which tell the stories of common individuals traveling to shrines for a saint's …

Itagaki Paru's Animalized Japan, Adoria Shanelle Walker Jul 2024

Itagaki Paru's Animalized Japan, Adoria Shanelle Walker

Dissertations and Theses

In the earlier works of manga artist and author Itagaki Paru, animal characters are used to prompt a discussion of the uchi/soto ("in-group"/"out-group") dynamic present in Japanese society. Throughout her most popular work, Beastars, and its supplemental short story collection Beast Complex, Itagaki tackles binary thinking and in-group versus out-group social politics using a blatantly obvious, yet nuanced and subtle herbivore-versus-carnivore, predator-versus-prey metaphor. The world she depicts in these works is full of misunderstandings caused by hastily made assumptions, sometimes instinctually quick. With her animalized characters, she explores human stigmatization and the poor treatment of those who do not want …

Navigating Neuropsychology: Unraveling Anxiety’S Impact On Virtual Assessment With Older Adults, Hannah Henderson

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

Digital technology plays a large role in our society and has for decades. Most recently, the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 jumpstarted more integrated use in daily living (Brem et al., 2021). The older adult population represents a minority of internet users; however, they are one of the fastest growing populations in their internet use (Gitlow, 2014) despite their hesitancy and related anxiety surrounding integration of technology into their daily lives. One facet of integration includes healthcare, particularly mental health and cognitive assessment. Cognitive assessments, also referred to as neuropsychological assessments, are particularly useful with older adult populations, as they can …

POLR3-related hypomyelinating leukodystrophy (POLR3-HLD) is a rare inherited neurological disorder caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in specific genes encoding subunits of RNA polymerase III (Pol III). Here, we report the third patient worldwide with pathogenic variants in POLR3K and clinical features consistent with POLR3-HLD. The female patient presented with mild intellectual and behavioural disturbances in childhood, as well as growth delay, with brain MRI revealing diffuse hypomyelination and a pattern consistent with POLR3-HLD. In adolescence, she manifested minor motor dysfunction. Next-generation sequencing revealed a paternally inherited missense variant in POLR3K (c.322G>T; p.D108Y) and a maternally inherited large deletion, spanning …

An Examination Of The Importance Of Developing Conflict Resolution Skills Within Adolescence, Adrianne Turnbow Jul 2024

An Examination Of The Importance Of Developing Conflict Resolution Skills Within Adolescence, Adrianne Turnbow

Masters Projects

Many students lack conflict resolution skills. According to Çeviker, Kağan, and Akıllı when faced with a conflict, students often react to conflict with anger, aggression, and avoidance. However, implementation of social emotional programs within school setting proves strategies, such as peer mediation and other programs reduce “obliging and avoiding behaviors” (Çeviker et al, 2019). Most importantly, the development of conflict resolution skills helps students to develop traits needed to adapt to future life situations. These traits consist of the development of social and individual qualities, such as resiliency and emotional tolerance when faced with conflict, in combination with, the development …

Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia

This research analyzes the spatial correlation between freshwater aquaculture production in Magelang Regency and the social and economic welfare of the community. Utilizing the Indeks Moran, LISA, and bivariate LISA methods, the results indicate inter-district correlations in freshwater fish production with a clustered distribution pattern. Mungkid and Muntilan districts are identified as production centers and hotspots. Freshwater fish production is also associated with community welfare, showing correlations with farmer groups despite a scattered distribution. However, the analysis of freshwater fish production and freshwater fish-based SMEs reveals a strong spatial relationship, particularly in Mungkid district, a central area fostering local development.

The manufacturing industry typically requires capacities on a large scale, increasing the risk of workplace accidents and illnesses. Thus, a stringent Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guideline is needed, notably through early Return to Work (RTW) policies. In this review we explore how the acceleration of the RTW process influences employees, factories, and policy after accidents. Using a literature review approach, this research collected the data and information from from books, journals, and articles discussing the topic of OHS management in domestic and overseas factories.Acceleration of RTW included gradual task modifications, alternative tasks, and workstation adjustments to facilitate workers’ …

Occupational and Environmental Medicine Journal of Indonesia

Background: N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) is an aliphatic amide which is miscible with water and a majority of organic liquids. Due to its amphiphilic properties, it is a widely used industrial solvent, especially for polymers. DMF has been consistently hepatotoxic, inducing effects on the liver at lowest concentrations or doses. N-acetyl-S-(N-methylcarbamoyl)cysteine (AMCC) which is one major metabolites of DMF, found in urine after DMF exposure of the whole workweek.

Objective: To determine the way of AMCC can be use as biomarker of DMF exposure and the best possible sampling time.

Method: This study conducted a literature search using evidence-based databases …
