Background/Significance:
Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) inhibitors are widely used in the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), often combined with Methotrexate (MTX) to reduce immunogenicity. Agents such as Infliximab and Adalimumab are effective for moderate to severe ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Although generally well tolerated, both have been linked to dermatologic adverse effects. Alopecia is a visible and distressing side effect that may affect quality of life and adherence. The magnitude of this risk in IBD patients receiving combination therapy remains unclear. Post-marketing databases allow detection of rare adverse drug reactions and potential interactions.
Purpose:
We used OpenVigil, a …

Evaluating Adherence To Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Guidelines As A Decision For Primary Cesarean Deliveries, Sarai Trenhs Do, Laurel Pietrzak Do, Manuel Lamptey Ms, Jessica Jf Kram Mph, Callie Cox Bauer Do
Scientific Day
Background/Significance:
Cesarean delivery rates in the United States remain high at ~32% of deliveries. Primary cesarean deliveries or Nulliparous, Term, Singleton, Vertex (NTSV) cesareans are ~26%. National benchmarks focus on reducing NTSV cesareans as a key strategy to addressing the overall cesarean delivery rate. While the NTSV benchmark (NTSV rate 23.6% or lower) is an important benchmark for quality improvement, it does not account for clinical factors that may influence delivery decisions. Non-reassuring fetal status (Category II or III) is a frequent indication for NTSV cesareans, yet it is inconsistently defined and fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring guidelines (Clark guidelines) …

The Role Of Faith In Coping With Mental Health Challenges In Late Life: A Phenomenological Study Of Religious Experience In The Aging Population, Krista Kelley
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation are significant concerns among older adults. These conditions are often neglected due to stigma, atypical symptom presentation, and medical comorbidities, resulting in increased healthcare utilization, heightened suicide risk, and emotional dysregulation. Psychosocially, these challenges obstruct a successful resolution of Erikson’s final stage, ego integrity versus despair, leading to dissatisfaction, regret, and reduced well-being. Although previous research has suggested a link between religious engagement and improved mental health outcomes, few studies have explored older adults’ lived experiences of faith in coping with mental health. This qualitative phenomenological study examined the experiences of 25 older adults regarding …

Winning Formula: The Life Of Colonel Edward R. Bradley, Lorraine Potter
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Edward R. Bradley was a towering cultural icon of the early twentieth century. He is best known as the owner and breeder of four Kentucky Derby winning horses and as the owner and operator of the longest-running illegal casino in American history. However, Bradley's story has rarely been told, due to both his characteristic humility and the dubious nature of his profession. Bradley worked, lived, and invested in nearly every pivotal American region during the Progressive Era, plying his trade as a highly successful gambler, speculator, and horse breeder. Though his accomplishments were immense, his demeanor remained dignified, plainspoken, and …
