Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Background: The physicochemical characterisation of homoeopathic medicines remains a challenge. Raman spectroscopy is a promising tool for identifying structural modifications in the solvent matrix and specific vibrational ``fingerprints'' induced by the potentisation process. Objective: This study aimed to characterise three remedies (Nux vomica, Thuja occidentalis, and Nitricum acidum - 5C potencies) using Raman spectroscopy to identify specific vibrational markers and evaluate the technique's ability to differentiate between different preparations within a complex matrix. Materials and methods: The drugs were analysed as crushed granules (solid state) and after dissolution in betamethasone disodium phosphate (liquid state). Raman spectroscopy was …

There is evidence of strong relationships between posttraumatic stress and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Interventions focused on healthy behaviors may promote CVD risk-reduction in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The present study includes analysis of the associations among key outcomes from an intervention study of a cognitive behavioral healthy lifestyle intervention in PTSD, treated as an adjunct to standard trauma therapy. Specifically, we examined whether changes in physical activity and sleep efficiency were associated with changes in body weight and cholesterol. The health behavior intervention is conducted in 12 weekly sessions and includes four overlapping modules (physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and …

Correlation Between Gas Mixing Ratio And Functional Properties Of Sputtered Zinc Oxide Nanostructures For Uv-Induced Antibacterial Applications, Mohanad A. Aswad, Firas J. Kadhim
Baghdad Science Journal
Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures were synthesized using reactive DC magnetron sputtering, and their structural, optical, morphological, and antibacterial properties were systematically investigated. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the formation of single-phase hexagonal wurtzite ZnO crystals with high crystallinity. The average crystallite size was estimated using the Scherrer equation. Field emission scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the gas mixing ratio plays a key role in morphology control, with dominant particle sizes ranging from 40 to 50 nm across all tested ZnO samples. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirmed the high degree of purity of the synthesized ZnO nanostructures and showed Zn and O …

Corona discharge characterization is essential for industrial plasma devices such as electrostatic precipitators, where effective sharp electrode configurations can generate high discharge currents at relatively low potential differences efficiently and measurably. This study aims to determine the characteristic equation of the current-voltage (I-V) curve for DC corona plasma with both electrodes sharp, which represents the optimal condition for producing corona discharge. A geometric approach based on modified capacitance by introducing a current multiplier factor (k) on the sharp electrode surface is implemented. Corona discharge is assumed to depend on the maximum local electric field at the electrode tip, while k …

Participant Recruitment And Retention In Studies Investigating Pregnancy-Related Pelvic Girdle Pain: A Methodological Systematic Review, Jasmine Darley, Bradley Halliday, Jill Shawe, Joanne Hosking, Zoe Hoare, Jennifer Freeman
School of Nursing and Midwifery
BackgroundRecruiting and retaining participants for clinical trials is a common and well-documented challenge, with particular complexity in perinatal populations which are historically underrepresented in health research. Recruitment and retention are known to be shaped by context-specific factors, yet no systematic review has examined these processes within the clinical domain of pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PPGP), a common and potentially debilitating condition affecting around one in five women in the UK.ObjectiveThis methodological systematic review aimed to summarise participant recruitment and retention in clinical trials investigating PPGP across four objectives: (1) to identify methods of recruitment and retention; (2) to assess the …
