Can Eastern Wisdom Solve Western Problems? A Book Review On Sun Tzu’S “The Art Of War”, Tian Qin

Health Care Administration Faculty Research

This paper explores how Eastern philosophical wisdom, specifically Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, can be applied to address modern Western organizational challenges. By drawing parallels between Sun Tzu’s military strategies and Bolman and Deal’s (2008) organizational theory—particularly the structural, political, and human resource frames—the review highlights how strategic evaluation, environmental awareness, and adaptive leadership can drive success in contemporary institutions. It critically examines Sun Tzu’s authoritative leadership style and its limitations, while emphasizing the continued relevance of strategic thinking, stakeholder analysis, and resource management in complex organizations such as higher education. The analysis suggests that while some of Sun …

An Algorithm For Three-Dimensional Bubble Simulations And Analysis For Advanced Nuclear Propulsion, Pongkrit Darakorn Na Ayuthya Jan 2025

An Algorithm For Three-Dimensional Bubble Simulations And Analysis For Advanced Nuclear Propulsion, Pongkrit Darakorn Na Ayuthya

Dissertations

This dissertation presents the development of a predictive simulation framework for analyzing gas-liquid dynamics in Centrifugal Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (CNTP) systems, where hydrogen gas is injected into a rotating liquid uranium fuel core. Using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), a fully Lagrangian mesh-free method, this research models multiphase flow behavior under extreme conditions, capturing critical phenomena such as bubble formation, surface deformation, void fraction evolution, and rotational confinement. A novel modification to the liquid equation of state is introduced to mitigate SPH artifacts, improving fluid stability and enabling surface recovery after deformation. The model is validated against experimental data from static …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has revolutionized the treatment of B-cell malignancies. Nevertheless, relapse due to loss of CD19 expression remains a major clinical challenge. CD22 serves as an alternative target because of its consistent expression on malignant B cells, even in CD19-negative disease. Optimization of CD22-directed CAR design is therefore critical to enhance antitumor potency and persistence. Two novel anti-CD22 CAR constructs were generated from monoclonal antibody clones 24A7G6 and 29H9C8, each incorporating either a 4-1BB or CD28 costimulatory domain. The resulting CAR T cells were evaluated for proliferation, phenotype, and cytotoxicity against CD22-positive (Raji, Nalm-6) and CD22-negative …

The Kincare Craze In Child Protection: Romanticism, Subterfuge, And Racial Separatism, James G. Dwyer Jan 2025

The Kincare Craze In Child Protection: Romanticism, Subterfuge, And Racial Separatism, James G. Dwyer

FIU Law Review

A deluge of federal and state legislation in recent years aims to channel maltreated children removed from parents’ custody into kin placements, responding to advocates for parents who claim this is categorically better for children than entering or remaining in foster care with biologically unrelated caregivers. The claim has romantic appeal, sufficient to beguile legislators. But the research on outcomes for children in different post-removal placements does not support it. In reality, motivations other than child welfare underlie the advocacy for this legislation. The core aim is to evade federal child-welfare mandates adopted in the 1990s and long condemned by …
