State Travel Burdens For Out-Of-State Abortion Care In The Wake Of The Dobbs Decision, Kelsey D. Titus
State Travel Burdens For Out-Of-State Abortion Care In The Wake Of The Dobbs Decision, Kelsey D. Titus
Integrative Learning Experience (ILE) Theses
This project examines abortion-related travel burdens as a critical public health policy problem, using the Multiple Streams Framework to link lived experience, health inequities, and policy responses across levels of governance. Anchored in the problem and policy streams, the analysis treats post-Dobbs interstate travel for abortion as a population-level determinant of health that amplifies existing social and structural inequities.
The project employs a qualitative thematic policy analysis drawing on two data sources: a key informant semi-structured interview with a reproductive justice leader and a targeted review of contemporary opinion and commentary articles from leading public health and health policy outlets. …

Game-Based Recruitment Assessment, Hafsa Nasir, Maira Munir, Zara Mahroyan Kashif, Abdul Rafay, Zarlish Mohtasham
BSCS Final Year Projects
The primary objective of our project is to develop a game-based recruitment system that modernizes traditional personality assessments by making them more engaging, adaptive, and relevant by incorporating real scenarios. We began by examining established models such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Big Five personality traits. While these tools provide meaningful psychological insights, their formats are too lengthy, and repetitive. To address this, we selected approximately 20 questions most relevant to workplace behavior and hiring decisions and imitated the scoring process of the MBTI questionnaires. This not only shortens the assessment process but also improves candidate engagement. …
Social Data's Role In Law And Political Economy, Salome Viljoen
Social Data's Role In Law And Political Economy, Salome Viljoen
Book Chapters
Over the past several years, the digital economy has been a notable uptick in interest from scholars across areas of law. This should come as no surprise. The digital economy encompasses some of the largest companies in the world, whose business models pioneer and spread new strategies to concentrate private power across the political economy more broadly. Digital companies have transformed commercial and social life, and they raise problems of concentrated private power. They are also charged with a slew of downstream disruptions resulting from collective pursuit of that power: global, social, and interpersonal forms of dislocation, oppression, impoverishment, alienation, …

Defining Statesmanship: Expert Knowledge And Leadership For The Collective Good, Benjamin A. Ellis
Defining Statesmanship: Expert Knowledge And Leadership For The Collective Good, Benjamin A. Ellis
Journal of Statesmanship & Public Policy: Briefs and Commentaries
This commentary explores the distinction between leadership and statesmanship. While leadership is broadly defined as the use of resources to achieve goals, statesmanship is characterized by the application of expert knowledge to govern for the benefit of all in a changing society. This commentary also outlines the traits, skills, and behaviors that define effective leadership and how these attributes translate to effective statesmanship. This commentary highlights the statesman's use of public perception to inspire empathy and pro-social behavior, ultimately contributing to stronger international relations.
Shame And Shame Resilience Among Students In An Alternative Suspension Program, James Alvin Rader Jr.
Shame And Shame Resilience Among Students In An Alternative Suspension Program, James Alvin Rader Jr.
Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
This explanatory sequential mixed methods study investigated the impact of an alternative suspension academic recovery program on shame and shame resilience among academically suspended college students. Grounded in shame resilience theory, the study examined changes in shame, specifically avoidance behavior, negative self-perception, and overall feelings of shame, and in shame resilience, including critical awareness, recognition of shame, the ability to verbalize shame, help-seeking behaviors, and total shame resilience. Quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-program surveys using the Test of Self-Conscious Affect-4 (TOSCA-4) and a researcher-developed Shame Resilience Scale. Qualitative data were then gathered through postintervention focus groups to …

Robotic Transabdominal Preperitoneal Morgagni Hernia Repair, Chris Robert, Furrukh Jabbar
Robotic Transabdominal Preperitoneal Morgagni Hernia Repair, Chris Robert, Furrukh Jabbar
North Texas Research Forum 2025
Introduction: Morgagni hernia is a rare type of congenital diaphragmatic hernia, representing about 3% of all cases. It occurs due to a defect in the development of the diaphragm in the Morgagni foramen, also known as the sternocostal triangle. Case presentation: A 63-year-old woman with a past medical history of hypertension, hypothyroidism, Barrett’s esophagitis, and cirrhosis secondary to alcohol intake (Child Pugh A) presented with increasing shortness of breath and spasmodic right sided chest pain. A diagnostic workup with a CT chest revealed herniation of fat and a portion of the colon into the right chest with adjacent atelectasis of …

Initiation Of Sterile Vaginal Preps Prior To Cesarean Sections: A Quality Improvement Project, Diane Gilbertson, Timothy Kremer, Kimberly Udell
North Texas Research Forum 2025
OBJECTIVE: Research on patients undergoing routine gynecological procedures with a vaginal preparation has demonstrated a significant reduction in post-operative infections by decreasing the burden of vaginal bacteria. Despite this research, as well as evidence that they reduce postpartum endometritis, especially in labor patients or those with ruptured membranes (Lui), vaginal preparations prior to cesarean section are not standard practice. Prior to the initiation of this quality improvement project, no patients delivering at Medical City Arlington received a vaginal preparation prior to a cesarean delivery. The goal of this quality improvement project is to improve clinical care, patient safety, and healthcare …

The Major League Baseball Pitch Clock: One Year Position Player Injury Analysis, Troy Puga, Nicholas Scigliano, Mckenna Box, John T. Riehl
North Texas Research Forum 2025
Background In 2023, Major League Baseball (MLB) implemented the pitch clock. The effects of the pitch clock on player injury rates is largely unknown, and some, including the major league baseball players association, have suggested that pitchers may be at an increased risk of injury with its implementation. Position players have received little attention in these discussions, even though they may be at the same theorized risk of injuries. The aim of this study is to determine if implementation of the 2023 MLB pitch clock influenced the incidence of injuries in position players. It is hypothesized that implementation of the …
Assessing The Effectiveness Of A Rapid Response Training Course, Nasima Mehraban, Caroline Brooke, Vivek Punjabi, Veeranna Vibhuti
Assessing The Effectiveness Of A Rapid Response Training Course, Nasima Mehraban, Caroline Brooke, Vivek Punjabi, Veeranna Vibhuti
North Texas Research Forum 2025
Introduction: Rapid response teams are crucial in healthcare settings for managing clinical emergencies. To enhance the preparedness of interns in handling such situations, we developed a rapid response training course. This study aimed to evaluate the course's effectiveness by examining changes in residents' self-reported confidence levels before and after completing the training. Methods: A group of interns participated in five simulated rapid response scenarios. Before the training, participants rated their confidence level on a scale from 1 (not confident in running a rapid response) to 10 (very confident). Following the training, they reassessed their confidence level. Pre- and post-training ratings …
Cryptococcal Meningitis In A Patient With Multiple Sclerosis On Fingolimod, Syed Hassan Amir, Teena Mathew
Cryptococcal Meningitis In A Patient With Multiple Sclerosis On Fingolimod, Syed Hassan Amir, Teena Mathew
North Texas Research Forum 2025
Background: There are a host of pathogens that thrive only when the host is weakened enough to be susceptible – Cryptococcus is one such organism that causes fatal meningitis, primarily in HIV patients. Those immunocompromised by other means are also susceptible. Among them, patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) pose a significant challenge as what may initially be considered an MS flare could mask a serious underlying infection. Objective: This case study discusses an MS patient on Fingolimod, an immunosuppressant, that likely made them vulnerable to cryptococcal meningitis. Pathogenesis: Cryptococci are encapsulated yeast that enter the body via inhalation of spores …
