Native American Elderly Formal And Informal Support Systems, Gregory R. Versen
The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare
As a minority group, American Indians have the distinction of being the smallest and the poorest. Their cultural diversity and unique relationship with the United States government set them even further apart from other minority groups. A subgroup of Native Americans about which little is known and even less has been written is the Native American elderly. This group is the focal point of this paper.
This paper reviews selected works by anthropologists, psychologists, social workers, health care professionals, and Native Americans. The intent is to identify and assess the formal and informal support systems to which the Native American …

Intergenerational Dialogues: A Tested Educational Program For Children, Richard H. Davis, Gerald Jay Westbrook
Intergenerational Dialogues: A Tested Educational Program For Children, Richard H. Davis, Gerald Jay Westbrook
Service Learning, General
Children's attitudes about growing old and about the elderly themselves are in large part influenced by negative images projected by the media and through lack of actual experience in interacting with older people. To counter this situation and to provide an opportunity for positive attitude shift, an educational program has been developed for 10- and 11-year-old students. Growing Up-Growing Older is a developed unit of instruction relying on a package of software including films and printed support materials. A strong experiential component is provided through structured intergenerational dialogues, facilitated by visiting older volunteers.

Vcu Today (1981-08-24)
VCU Today, 1972-1988
VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

The Norming Of The Shortened Form Of The Carrow Elicited Language Inventory, Barbara Brown
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
The present investigation was initiated to establish cut-off scores for the shortened form of the Carrow Elicited Language Inventory (CELI).
