Comprehensive What? Coordination Of Whom? Area Agencies On Aging And The Planning Mandate (Revised), Roger A. Lohmann Jun 1982

Comprehensive What? Coordination Of Whom? Area Agencies On Aging And The Planning Mandate (Revised), Roger A. Lohmann

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

The rural agency on aging did not – could not – engage in effective social planning because it was charged with a full range of responsibilities for sub-state decisionmaking among competing grant applicants. Several aspects of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) planning mission are identified and discussed including “plan preparation”, rational decision-making, sub-state allocations and needs meeting. Widespread acceptance of the legitimacy of AAA planning goals generated three alternative models, which are termed the case management, inter-organizational and community structural approaches. The Descriptive Function Of Language: Changes With Age And Pressure To Inform, Eve Susan Liebman May 1982

The Descriptive Function Of Language: Changes With Age And Pressure To Inform, Eve Susan Liebman

Dissertations and Theses

In recent publications, language function has been referred to as pragmatics (Prutting, 1979). The essence of pragmatic theory is that language is used functionally in social contexts, to accomplish specific types of communication (Wood, 1981). One such communicative function is referred to as the informative function, which occurs when a speaker provides ideas and information to others, as in describing, naming and giving examples {Wood, 1981). It is not clear, however, when children become competent in making specific, clear …

VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. A Study Of The Establishment And Operation Of An Adult Day Care Center In Southside Virginia, Ronald Vernon Dunn

Theses & Honors Papers

Adult Day Cares are a viable option for many Americans with elderly parents. Whether both partner work full-time and are unable to care for their parents, or their parents need the socialization that a group setting would provide, many view these centers as a practical option for them. An Adult Day Care is the mediator between the strict supervision that a hospital setting would provide and the lack of supervision while the adult is at their home. This study examines the history of Adult Day Care Centers, the Adult Day Care options in Southside Virginia, and develops a thorough plan …
