Vcu Today (1985-03-06) Mar 1985

Vcu Today (1985-03-06)

VCU Today, 1972-1988

VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

This study examines the impact of gender on the division of domestic labor among working women and men. This research focuses on three kinds of productive activities (paid work, household work, and child care). In addition to productive activities, two kinds of social activities (time spent with relatives and friends, and time spent in entertainment activities) are included. This research also …

Survey Analysis Of The Council Bluffs Senior Citizens' Center Programs And Participants, David R. Dimartino, Jack Ruff

Publications

In the summer of 1984, representatives of the Council Bluffs Senior Citizens Center requested assistance from the Center for Applied Urban Research to analyze their program offerings and attendance. The request resulted in two types of assistance. First, working with volunteers and staff, two students from the University of Nebraska at Omaha compiled existing information on Senior Center usage. These efforts resulted in a computerized list of about 700 users by the types of activities in which they participated. This list is to be used when sending program information to participants. Automation allows sorting in order to select users according …

Hospitals Caught In The Antitrust Net: An Overview, John J. Miles, Mary Susan Philp Jan 1985

Hospitals Caught In The Antitrust Net: An Overview, John J. Miles, Mary Susan Philp

Duquesne Law Review

Over the past eight to ten years, many activities of hospitals have been subjected to increased scrutiny under the antitrust laws. The new competitive environment in which hospitals find themselves, as well as changing antitrust legal principles, suggest that this greater scrutiny will even increase in the future. A hospital's administration and its legal counsel, therefore, must be able to recognize and analyze activities engaged in by hospitals that can raise serious antitrust concerns. This article briefly addresses the developments that have led to greater antitrust litigation involving hospitals. It then identifies several activities by hospitals that can prove troublesome. …
