The Role Of Risk And Resilience In Psychological Distress: An Application Of The Minority Stress Model, Rachel Clair Franklin
The Role Of Risk And Resilience In Psychological Distress: An Application Of The Minority Stress Model, Rachel Clair Franklin
Theses and Dissertations
LGBT individuals experience disproportionate levels of psychological distress compared to heterosexual populations, often attributed to minority stressors, including experiences of discrimination and victimization. Guided by the Minority Stress Model, the present study examined whether social and community support moderated the relationship between minority stress and psychological distress, and whether rejection sensitivity and fear of discrimination mediated these associations. Data were collected from a sample of 251 individuals who self-identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender in the United States. Multiple regression, moderation, and mediation analyses using the PROCESS macro were conducted to examine relationships among experiences of discrimination, sexuality-based victimization, …
Seroprevalence Of Hepatitis B And Hepatitis C In Patients Hospitalized In Palliative Care Service, Meryem Betos Koçak, Burcu Güler
Seroprevalence Of Hepatitis B And Hepatitis C In Patients Hospitalized In Palliative Care Service, Meryem Betos Koçak, Burcu Güler
Saudi Medical Journal
Objectives: Patients receiving palliative care often have complex comorbidities and frequent healthcare exposure, which may place them at risk for blood-borne infections such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). However, data on the seroprevalence and prognostic impact of these infections in palliative populations remain limited. This study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of HBV and HCV markers in patients hospitalized in a palliative care unit and to assess their association with mortality. Methods: This retrospective study conducted on 545 adult patients a tertiary palliative care unit between 2018 and 2024. Demographic characteristics, comorbidities, nutritional support, mobility, …
Signs Of Belonging: Community Identities Of Deaf Elders In Central And Coastal Massachusetts, Nelia Eaddy
Signs Of Belonging: Community Identities Of Deaf Elders In Central And Coastal Massachusetts, Nelia Eaddy
Undergraduate University Honors Capstones
This study focuses on shared experiences and themes of community identities within the elder Deaf community of central and coastal Massachusetts. Lived experiences and linguistic journeys shape our overall senses of belonging and identities; subsequently, they profoundly affect our relationship to our communities (Eastaugh, 2019). This research study discusses how concepts of belonging shift as individuals age within their community and how that impacts their sense of belonging and experiences with language. Communities where individuals feel a sense of belonging encourage identity development. The experiences of elders who identify as “Deaf” (due to their language preference and cultural influences) within …
Perceived Parental Favoritism And Disfavoritism: Associations With Depression And Entitlement In College Students, Emma S. Hren
Perceived Parental Favoritism And Disfavoritism: Associations With Depression And Entitlement In College Students, Emma S. Hren
Senior Honors Projects, 2020-current
Research consistently shows that children’s perceptions of differential treatment can have negative and lasting impacts on their well-being. Suitor and colleagues (2017) examined perceptions of favoritism among adult children in the form of emotional closeness, disappointment, conflict, and pride. The current study builds upon prior research by adding fathers, entitlement, and dimensions of practical and financial help. At James Madison University, 235 undergraduate students completed an online survey, which measured depression, entitlement, and social comparison in relation to perceptions of parental treatment. Results indicated associations between perceptions of differential parenting across emotional closeness, disappointment, conflict, pride, and financial and practical …

Be Prepared For Your Nurse Practitioner Clinical Readiness Exam, Elizabeth Heavey, Renee Biedlingmaier, Colleen Burgoyne, Carnel C. Jackson
Milne Open Textbooks
This text contains case studies and review questions for nurse practitioner students; focusing on the 3Ps of nurse practitioner education (Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Physical (Health) Assessment) to help NP students prepare for their clinical courses and pass their clinical readiness exam. It includes cases commonly seen in entry-level NP practice. In addition to the three individual sections of the text that focus on cases applying content from each of the distinct courses (Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Physical Assessment), we included summative case studies at the end of the book that connect all three areas in a single case. Because these three …

Fall Prevention In A Medical Intermediate Care Unit (Mimu) Through Use Of A Collaborative Fall Bundle, Sara M. Jose
Fall Prevention In A Medical Intermediate Care Unit (Mimu) Through Use Of A Collaborative Fall Bundle, Sara M. Jose
Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Project Abstract
PURPOSE
This DNP project focused on reducing the fall rate in a medical intermediate care unit by half, from 1.81 falls per 1000 patient days to 0.91 falls per 1000 patient days.
BACKGROUND
The number of patient falls poses a significant concern in a medical intermediate care unit. The fall rate goal is zero.
METHODOLOGY
The Collaborative Fall Bundle includes implementing the Fall TIPS Toolkit, an 11 x 17 bedside poster informing patients and staff of their fall risk factors and interventions to counteract; an alarm buddy system pairing two nurses to answer each other's call lights and assist with …

The Role Of Creatine Supplementation On Neuromuscular Function, Mark Petry
The Role Of Creatine Supplementation On Neuromuscular Function, Mark Petry
Theses - ALL
This study examined the effects of short-term high-dose creatine monohydrate (CrM) supplementation on neuromuscular and corticospinal function in healthy adults. Creatine is widely recognized for its role in enhancing muscular performance and energy availability, yet its short-term effects on neural and neuromuscular outcomes remain unclear. The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether three days of CrM loading would influence maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) peak torque, corticospinal excitability (CSE) measured via transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)-induced motor evoked potential (MEP) amplitude, muscle cross-sectional area (CSA) and muscle quality via echo intensity (EI). Nine healthy creatine-naive adults completed a repeated-measures design …
